This workshop, led by Hamish Mabala Neill, is aimed at theatre-makers, directors, and performers, and will offer some insight into a theatre-making practice from a different global context. South Africa’s theatre scene is known by key works like WOZA ALBERT, The Island, and Sophiatown – all of which drew from the theatre-making practices developed in the 60s and 70s that came as a result of the political apartheid imposed. Importantly, this is NOT a South African theatre-making workshop. This does not yet exist in our context as there are so many streams, influences and styles present across our context. It is, however, a theatre-making workshop that highlight some of the common theatre making practices from the broader South African Theatre making scene. Hamish Mabala Neillis a Global South Visiting Fellow in Theatre Studies at the University of Glasgow. He is an Applied Drama/Theatre lecturer, project leader, and current Director of the Creative Research Hub (CRH) at Drama for Life, of the University of the Witwartersrand (Wits) in Johannesburg, South Africa. Hamish has worked on multiple, diverse, award winning (industry and civic), theatre-for-social-change projects including Through Positive Eyes (2012-13), AfriQueer (2015-17), and as initiator and lead of the celebrated applied theatre and public health project, Knowledge UNZIPPED (2016-2024). This is simply a dream castle. When I arrived, it was the April holiday, and there were almost no people on the road. Only the ancient buildings stood in the cold air, solemn and heavy, which made people feel awe.

We came here on a spontaneous visit one Sunday afternoon in January and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our wee boy loved seeing the &ldquo;old fashioned house&rdquo; and was so well looked after by all the staff, from the cash register to the flat and back out again.

We went round twice (with a shift change between visits!) and the insight into one story of no doubt thousands like it in Glasgow was fantastic. Plus our boy thoroughly enjoyed colouring in his wallie dug. A hidden gem that is well worth the wander through Garnethill.

This museum is a place where people have to punch in. I especially like the oil paintings in the museum. After seeing it, I feel a great enjoyment. The museum is also a favorite place for primary and secondary school students.

Glasgow Cathedral

It is said that it can be traced back to the famous William Conquest period. It was built to commemorate St. Diego. It took hundreds of years to build and has been around for nearly a thousand years. It is the oldest religious building in the entire Scottish region. It is also a must-see for tourists.

George Square

George Square is located in Glasgow city center and is very conveniently accessible by train or subway. On nice days, you can sunbathe and watch pigeons in the square. It is close to the famous shopping street, where you can buy souvenirs, clothes, shoes and socks. There are also many restaurants and eateries to choose from. 
George Square is a must-see attraction. In addition to admiring the architecture of the square;during different festivals, such as Christmas, the square is built into a Christmas Market, becoming a dynamic and happy atmosphere.
