Details

Experience the beauty and transcendence of nature through three enchanting musical performances at the Truth & Transcendence concert. This captivating event takes place at St. David's Episcopal Church and School in Ashburn, VA on February 10, 2024. The concert begins with George Walker's Lyric for Strings, a moving composition that explores the resilience of the human spirit in the face of darkness. This powerful piece sets the stage for Ralph Vaughan Williams's mesmerizing The Lark Ascending, performed by the talented Jie H. Kim, concertmaster of the LSO. Through the enchanting sounds of the violin, Kim portrays the lark as a symbol of nature's beauty and transcendence. Continuing the theme of nature's secrets, Ottorino Respighi's Pines of Rome transports the audience to a world where pine trees share their stories from times past. These majestic trees, the keepers of truth, transcend time and space as their secrets unfold. The highlight of the evening is the world premiere of Traveler in the Mist, composed by Kim Allen Kluge and Kathryn Kluge. Inspired by David Grann's groundbreaking book, Killers of the Flower Moon, this piece delves into the atrocities suffered by Oklahoma's Osage Indians in the early 20th century. Through the haunting melodies, the blackjack trees bear witness to these hidden truths. In addition to these captivating performances, the talented Melichenko Family from Ukraine will take the stage, delivering a powerful message of freedom through their energetic and spirited performance. Don't miss out on this extraordinary concert that celebrates truth, transcendence, and the enduring power of nature. Doors open 30 minutes before the concert, and seating is general admission. The program will include an intermission and run for approximately 2.25 hours. Tickets are available for purchase, with prices ranging from $0 to $35.
