Merlyn Chesterman's passion for art developed during her time studying Fine Art at Bath Academy of Art in England. She has since exhibited her work around the UK and internationally, including at the prestigious Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Inspired by her travels in Asia and the United States, Merlyn's work explores themes of atmosphere, beauty, danger, remoteness, weather, and mystery. She works with various woods, carefully selecting boards for their unique qualities, and prints on high-quality papers using oil-based, water-washable ink.

During this workshop, participants will learn the basic concepts of relief printmaking using wood and become familiar with the necessary tools and materials. The objectives include developing artistic control in creating black and white woodcuts, maintaining and sharpening tools, and selecting suitable blocks and paper. By the end of the workshop, attendees will have the skills and knowledge to confidently create woodcut prints at home with minimal investment.
