Attend the 2nd Annual Youth Art Exhibit Gallery Opening, presented by the Center for Youth Equity, showcasing the creative talents of over 20 young artists from the New Orleans area, aged 11 to 21. The exhibit explores the theme of Culture, as these artists delve into the elements that shape their identities and aspirations. Culture can encompass various forms of artistic expression, such as drawing or playing music, as well as traditions, food, and language that reflect a person's ethnicity and community. It is a source of belonging, inspiration, and support, especially in times of need. The gallery opening will take place on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, at the prestigious Big Couch venue located at 1045 Desire Street in New Orleans. This exquisite event is open to the public, and attendees will be treated to light refreshments throughout the evening. At 6:15 pm, there will be a brief award presentation to recognize the exceptional talent on display. Admission is free, but claiming tickets in advance will help us better organize the logistics of the event. Artists aged 11 to 21 from Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, or Plaquemines Parishes are encouraged to submit their works for consideration by contacting youthart@tulane.edu. The Center for Youth Equity is a pioneering research center dedicated to youth violence prevention within the community partnerships and infrastructure of Tulane University's Violence Prevention Institute. As the first CDC-funded Prevention Research Center in the Gulf South focused on youth violence prevention, it plays a vital role in building and strengthening the network in New Orleans and across the region.
