Join the Center for Art Law at Fordham Law School in New York City for a film screening of "The Melt Goes on Forever: The Art & Times of David Hammons" (2022), presented in collaboration with the Artist Representation Society (ARS) and Fordham Art Law Society (FALS). This November, experience a captivating chronicle of the enigmatic Black American art star David Hammons and his groundbreaking career. Directed by Judd Tully and Harold Crooks, "The Melt Goes on Forever" (2022) documents Hammons' remarkable journey from the Watts rebellion era in 1960s Los Angeles to his current status as a prominent figure in the global art world. Through his genre-defying artistic practice, which challenges American society and the elite art establishment, Hammons invites viewers to engage with the racial divides of our time and envision a new cultural landscape for the 21st century. The film features interviews with esteemed artists, curators, and critics, as well as archival footage and evocative animation. Following the screening, a panel discussion will be held with director Judd Tully, art critic Nancy Marcotte, archival researcher for the film, and other experts. Don't miss this extraordinary event that showcases an artist who continually defies conventions and remains subversive. The event will take place on November 29, 2023, at Fordham University School of Law in New York City. Tickets range from $19.94 to $38.09.
