KINTSUGI Workshop Series at Vermilion is a transformative experience that combines the art of mending with self-exploration and collective healing. From October 7 to November 11, participants can embark on a journey of inner discovery and community connection. This series, guided by the spirit of mending with art, offers four sessions that delve into various aspects of personal growth and empowerment. In Session I, "Finding Power in The Invisible: Recounting Personal Truth in Fictions," participants will explore the power of storytelling as a means of self-expression. Session II, "Beyond Language: Storytelling with Body Language and Movements," focuses on nonverbal communication and the art of physical expression. Session III, "Relearning Safety: Trust Building with Community Leaders," aims to create a sense of trust and safety within the community. Finally, Session IV (special topic to be announced) will offer a unique opportunity for participants to engage in a Playback Theater Workshop. Based on Meyer's Minority Stress Model, the KINTSUGI workshop series recognizes the challenges faced by individuals with diverse identities in New York City. However, it also celebrates the strength that comes from embracing these intersecting identities. The workshops provide a safe space for sharing, allowing participants to liberate themselves through the use of fiction and narratives, ultimately finding healing through various art forms. Hosted by Vermilion Theater, a government-registered non-profit organization, this workshop series aims to bridge cultural gaps by producing multilingual plays for both the Chinese diaspora and non-Chinese-speaking audience. The organization is committed to creating a unique cultural experience through theater art. Donations are welcome and greatly appreciated, with a suggested amount of $10. Your support, regardless of the donation size, will have a significant impact on our journey as we take our first steps forward. Join us for the KINTSUGI Workshop Series and embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery and collective healing.
