First of all, I'd like to note that the Hotel Kazakhstan is one of Almaty's symbols. When I was a child, I had a lamp that was a miniature replica of this hotel. The hotel has an excellent location, and the rooms are clean and cozy. The bed is very comfortable, with pillows of varying firmness, so it's easy to find one that suits you. The room has everything needed for a comfortable stay. I noticed that the walls have good sound insulation. Breakfasts are good, with plenty of pastries to suit every taste. On weekends, be prepared for the lobby to be crowded, as weddings are often celebrated there. But this adds a unique charm to the hotel. I was satisfied with my stay and would gladly return. And the views from the window on a sunny day are simply magnificent!

The hotel is in a good location with spacious rooms. The level of service doesn't match the stated level. The bathroom is in terrible condition. The drain in the shower stall is clogged, and it's not fixed during cleaning. The shower faucet closes under its own weight, requiring a hand to hold it in place. You can shower in the bathtub, but the drain blocking valve is damaged, and the shutoff mechanism is broken. The valve is simply installed in the trap with blue tape 🤦🏻. The valve is difficult to remove, but it can be done. The faucet in the bathtub has no pressure, allowing for a good body wash, but washing your hair is extremely difficult. There's no ironing board or iron in the room; they are provided upon request, with a 20-30 minute wait. The ironing board is far from fresh, and a thin, multi-purpose cover is stretched over a dented metal frame, causing it to dangle in folds. There's no door lock (latch or chain), and the switch on the lock doesn't prevent hotel staff from accessing the room. Waking up to a service representative walking around the room is a real experience. I encountered this after the first night, and I've since put up a ”do not disturb” sign. If your room isn't cleaned in the morning, for any reason, it won't be cleaned that day without your reminder.

The hotel isn't bad, but I was surprised by the lack of service. I arrived at 6 AM after an overnight flight, and there was no water in the room. This should be communicated, especially since the photos show everything. So, in a sleepy state, I had to figure out where to get water, leave the room, etc. It was incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Based on the photos of my room, I should have had a coffee machine, but it wasn't there because apparently, it was a different room type. However, on the website, the more expensive room looked identical in photos and description. The staff didn't try to be accommodating; they just stated the facts – this isn't available because of X, and that isn't available because of Y. There was a queue for coffee at breakfast, and when they ran out of mugs for me, I was simply told to go to the next machine and find cups myself, instead of them bringing one to me. The mini-bar was empty, even though there was a price list, there was nothing inside. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this hotel for business trips. For frequent business travelers, hotel conveniences are the most important thing to help you relax a little, as you're not at home, and unfortunately, this hotel lacked that.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The service was excellent, both at the front desk and during breakfast. Housekeeping was fantastic; they consistently replenished slippers and dental amenities. Since I was traveling alone, they provided two bottles of fresh water daily. A bathrobe was also included. Breakfast offered a good variety, and everything was delicious. They even had national sweets, which was a nice touch. I tried the spa and jacuzzi. Overall, it was okay, but the jacuzzi water was heavily chlorinated, leaving my hands very dry afterward. There was no hand cream in the room, which would have been a great addition. While the hotel isn't right in the city center, the location is still convenient. It's a 10-minute walk to the metro station, and Arbat Street, a popular pedestrian street, is nearby.

There's also a local mini-supermarket about a 2-minute walk away, which was very handy. I'd seen previous reviews mentioning that rooms on the 10th floor were under renovation, so I requested a mid-floor room just in case. I went up to the 10th floor when I went to the gym and it seemed the construction was finished. **What I liked:** * The staff were relatively friendly, especially the front desk staff. * The room was spacious. * Breakfast was decent. * Wi-Fi was stable. * It's pleasantly quiet, being slightly outside the main center. **What I didn't like:** * The bathtub drainage was poor. * The water sometimes looked slightly cloudy. * The shower temperature was occasionally unstable. * Even with all the lights on, the room was a bit dim.

Booked this hotel because it was near to the airport, and being only 20 minutes away made for a great stopover between flights. That said, the hotel itself has plenty to offer. The rooms are nice and clean. We actually had an issue where we had too much hot water which is sort of the opposite problem of what you'd expect. The staff were friendly and helpful. They also had plenty of water coolers around to refill bottles, which is a nice touch not all hotels would offer. We didn't use the pool, but we saw that it was large and plenty of people were using it. Breakfast was simple, but did enough to cover all the bases. All in all, would recommend a stay here. Especially if you're looking for somewhere near the airport to crash.

The hotel is quite high-quality. We booked a suite. The room had a capsule coffee machine (one capsule was free, and more could be purchased for 700 tenge). A kettle, tea and coffee set, and water were also provided. Slippers, robes, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and soap were also provided. The bed was large and comfortable, and the linens and towels were crisp white. Breakfast was included, and it was excellent. There was a wide selection of delicious food, and there was a coffee machine. Reception was very quick to resolve any issues we had. There's nothing interesting nearby, as the hotel is located in a residential area, but the hotel itself is excellent. One caveat: the ventilation in the restroom is constantly noisy. It can't be turned off. Flight fatigue and earplugs allowed me to ignore it. The staff was pleasant and polite.

Good breakfasts and optimal temperatures in the rooms and throughout the hotel, even in hot weather. The rooms have everything you need, nothing fancy, consistent with the advertised service level. Check-in was delayed, but they immediately apologized and compensated for the inconvenience, so it didn't spoil the mood in the end. I'll mention the pleasant hotel staff again. As for inconveniences – a leaky bathtub.

The room is good for one person. The bed was comfortable and the heating is decent. Wifi is fast enough for me to work. Daily housekeeping is great. The breakfast options are sufficient but their coffee machine keeps on running out of Chocolate, sometimes it just dispensed dark water. The location of the hotel is ideal. The staff can speak English and they helped me with some of my requests. I initially stayed for 4 nights andextended my stay for one night and my key card stopped working on the final day, they had to reactivate it. The daily breakfast was served in the ground floor restaurant which is quite dark and not ideal. Overall i had a pleasant stay, and would consider booking this hotel again when I return to Almaty.

European-style mansion, mountain view villa, five-star experience! This is the most luxurious guesthouse I've ever stayed in, bar none! And this is my second time staying here! To be honest, I've stayed in many guesthouses and many four- and five-star hotels, but I think Oriental Club is the most worth recommending. It can't even be called a guesthouse; it should be called a mansion. First, its architectural style is a typical European mansion building + luxurious decoration + a large garden, making it instantly appealing. The sense of luxury here is no less than a five-star hotel, which is unique among guesthouses! Second, because I particularly love the environment, this is my second stay. I've gotten to know the owner quite well, and from our conversations, I learned that this is probably the most highly educated management team I've ever seen running a guesthouse: one person has an MBA from France and lived in Paris for many years; one is a PhD from Faraday University; two are Master's degree holders from Faraday University; and two others are foreign trade elites, sales champions in the European and Central Asian markets. They are all highly educated and qualified individuals, a rarity among guesthouse owners. None of them had prior experience in the guesthouse or hotel industry; their involvement stemmed from their partnership with Huawei, and the villa served as the location for their product showroom, a joint venture with the company. Since the showroom wasn't yet completed, extra rooms were converted into temporary guest rooms, resulting in this dual-use Oriental Club. Furthermore, the owners are incredibly welcoming, and the breakfasts are exceptionally clean and hygienic. The owners share breakfast with guests daily, eating from the same pot, which inspires confidence in the food's hygiene! Even the water used for cooking and tea is purified and filtered! This is probably unparalleled in the hotel and catering industry! Finally, the villa boasts a large and beautiful garden, lush with trees and fruit trees laden with fruit, including apple, blackberry, cherry, plum, and blackcurrant trees—a truly delightful sight. For someone like me who is particularly discerning about their living environment, this kind of place is perfect: quiet, comfortable, and offering a slow-paced lifestyle—very therapeutic. Highly recommended!

The hotel is in a great location, because it is super central. Baykonur metro station is very near and on Abaya many buses routes linking to every part of the city. This is the best pro of the hotel, I must say that the room was clean but… it really needs a serious renovation of the furniture, of the room style and the corridors as well. It looks like the hotel is stuck in the mid 90s-early 00s, the carpeting is very old and all the closets and beds are very old… The corridors are very Soviet style, it looks like to be in a polyclinic room. This is not a 4-steal hotel for nowadays standards, the photos of the rooms shown on trip.com are deceiving, our standard double room was not like that at all. Please, try to invest a little bit more in this hotel. It has a great potential.

The breakfast was generally good, and the location is convenient for getting a taxi.

The location is excellent, within walking distance to all major city attractions. The room was very spacious, almost a bit too empty; it would be even better if the soft furnishings had more design flair. The breakfast was incredibly rich and delicious, with large, sweet cherries and fresh fruit that started the day off perfectly. The front desk staff were also very responsible; although they didn't have extra bottled water at the front desk, they immediately notified housekeeping to bring some.

Fantastic stay! We will be back for 5 days next year. We stayed for 1 night and 1 day, and everything was much better than we expected. The resort is beautiful and very clean. What we loved: The Room: We stayed in the purple chalet. It was very cozy, warm, and had a great mountain view. The Staff: The service was excellent. The staff speaks very good English and they were so helpful with our questions. Skiing: We had a great time on the slopes! The equipment and the snow were perfect. Our Plan: One day was too short. We liked it so much that we are planning to come back next year in the Autumn season for a longer stay of 3–5 nights to see the colors of the trees. Bottom Line: Highly recommended for families and international travelers. Thank you!

The hotel is surrounded by many restaurants and has convenient parking. There are also several gas stations nearby. The staff were friendly, and the beds were comfortable and clean. It was quiet at night as well. The breakfast was decent. Just a heads-up: if you use the navigation from the platform (like Gaode Maps), it will guide you past the hotel's main entrance parking lot and lead you to a side entrance, which is a one-way street. You won't be able to turn back from there, so be aware.

Nice hotel but not close to city center. No eateries nearby neither. Will have to Yandex to the city center or order delivery. Breakfast buffet in the mornings with almost same selection daily but they're tasty enough so we didn't mind it. There's a rooftop restaurant/bar on the 11th floor called SHYN. Nice pasta, cocktails and DJ spinning till late.

Clean. Excellent location. It's strange that breakfast cannot be charged to the room! You have to pay directly before eating. Union Pay doesn't work on their terminals. And for this price, breakfast should really be complimentary!

First of all, I'd like to note that the Hotel Kazakhstan is one of Almaty's symbols. When I was a child, I had a lamp that was a miniature replica of this hotel. The hotel has an excellent location, and the rooms are clean and cozy. The bed is very comfortable, with pillows of varying firmness, so it's easy to find one that suits you. The room has everything needed for a comfortable stay. I noticed that the walls have good sound insulation. Breakfasts are good, with plenty of pastries to suit every taste. On weekends, be prepared for the lobby to be crowded, as weddings are often celebrated there. But this adds a unique charm to the hotel. I was satisfied with my stay and would gladly return. And the views from the window on a sunny day are simply magnificent!

I hope that in the future there will be clearer signage reminding guests to use the provided tongs and serving spoons when taking food from the buffet, or that staff can occasionally monitor the buffet area to ensure proper hygiene. Unfortunately, I completely lost my appetite after seeing some guests, specifically Indians, using their bare hands to take food, despite the serving utensils being readily available. I also noticed other guests looking on with visible discomfort. It was an unpleasant and unhygienic experience that detracted from what is otherwise a very nice 4-star hotel. In addition, the dining area was affected by a mix of very strong perfume and noticeable body odor from some guests, which made the breakfast experience even more unpleasant. While I understand the hotel cannot control personal grooming, maintaining a comfortable dining environment is important. I hope this issue can be addressed to help maintain the hygiene standards and dining experience that guests expect.
