Carabao island feels like being situated on the edge of the world and what's more appropriate then staying in the Ocean's Edge hotel - a piece of luxury surrounded by nature. The hotel boat picked us up from Caticlan airport (get a Motorized tricycles from the airport to SE hotel which is the meeting point). The boat trip is an hour from there to Carabao island. They have two pickup slots 10:30am and 2:30pm. We stayed there just after the typhoon (december 2019) when all the comms and internet were down. The staff was very helpful and made sure to overcome all the complexities we had after the nature disaster e.g. the electricity was on and off, no communication with the rest of the world. There is not much around the hotel but the staff is very accommodating and if you request to go to town they can drive you there on demand so you don't feel trapped in the resort. The small beach below the hotel is great for chilling out or for snorkeling. Also you can arrange a dive or a snorkelling trip with the Vibrations Dive Center which is located on the beach. Guillaume and Manu are so passionate about what they do and they have lots of stories about the oceans and its creatures to share. Highly recommended! The only comment about the service is that the restaurant staff are very slow, however, during our 5 days stay we have noticed the gradual improvement. The menu of the restaurant is vast and should be chopped in order to speed up the process. However, there is still a room for improvement from service to quality of the food.

Sunset Cove Beach and Dive Resort is a gem in Romblon. The resort has a dive shop run with the highest professional standard by owners Ronny and Charo and their main divemaster Jojo. Ronny and Charo are dive instructors themselves and their love of the sport shows through the professionalism of the dive shop. You don't have to worry about safety when you dive here.Dives are planned by dive experts who know the area very well. Ronny talks to every guest and will ask what you are interested in seeing and plan the dives accordingly. The resort is also run with utmost professionalism. The rooms are clean and decorated with great taste in a contemporary take of mid-20th century American-European design. The staff are excellent, especially Golden and her husband. (Sorry I forgot his name!) Jojo the divemaster is excellent and knows the dive sites well. This resort was such a treasure to find in Romblon. It's a bit hard to get to, but worth all the trouble, and Ronny can arrange all transportation needs to ensure smooth travels. I am definitely going back! Thanks to Ronny, Charo, and the staff for impressing my visiting American relatives and making me look good!

Turtle Cove Island Resort is on Tablas Island, but only accessible by boat. That is the start of the fun. The owners James and Rona are wonderful hosts who will go out of their way to give you a wonderful holiday experience. Explore the little out of the way coves by wandering along rugged mountain pathways. Find little secrets hidden around - a treehouse and little cabanas for quiet moments overlooking crystal waters. The beaches are kept clean and have soft white sand. The waters are crystal clear and you can snorkel or dive in the area. The accommodation is modest but all you need with hot water and clean and secure rooms and the food is good. We loved it here and would recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet paradise escape away from the touristy crowds of nearby islands.

It is a bumpy 4km ride from the main road. I think I was the only guest when I stayed here. This resort is on the eastern side of the island so it is affected by the prevailing winds. The beach is also affected by washed up seaweed but the caretakers are out daily cleaning it up. This is a one beach one resort location. My room had a double bed, single bed, wardrobe with attached table top and a chair. The lighting was good. The aircon unit was fairly quiet and worked well. The only power point was inconveniently located where you had to place your phone on the floor when recharging or use the chair. The large bathroom had a separate recessed shower area. The hot water system worked well as was the water pressure. The basin faucet had virtually no water pressure, it was no more than a dribble. I reported the problem to reception. Dinner from the restaurant needs to be preordered prior to 5pm. You will be totally reliant on the restaurant for meals as there is nothing else around. Food was okay. Mango/banana shakes were excellent. Hopefully they will soon use an alternative to plastic straws. Mosquitos are out playing once the sun goes down so use a repellent. Internet data can be slow at times. The resort's wifi is unreliable. Customer service is limited to your requests. DO NOT miss out on walking up to the viewpoint. Only a short walk and well worth it for the views. The isolated location makes it a great place to just chill out. The big plus...no roosters.
