The hotel is located directly across from Lake Windermere, nestled on a hillside. There are many small rabbits hopping around, and flocks of sheep peacefully grazing on the grassy slopes next to the hotel. You can also find plenty of blackberries in the nearby fields, which are quite tasty. The external environment is absolutely beautiful, with lots of lavender and other flowers in the hotel's courtyard, where plump bees busily fly around collecting nectar. On the hillside overlooking the road, there are several swings facing Lake Windermere for guests to enjoy, offering panoramic views of the lake just across the way. Next to the swings, there are a few apple trees bearing fruit. Lazily swinging here makes you feel like the whole world slows down. Our room, the Hazel room, was quite spacious, featuring a large bed (I'm not sure if it was two single beds pushed together or one with two mattresses) and a sofa bed. The bathroom was also very large, with both a shower and a bathtub. There aren't many restaurants near the hotel, but fortunately, the hotel's restaurant is decent, and the prices are comparable to other establishments. For public transport, you're reliant on buses, which aren't very frequent. We initially wanted to go to the town and the Lake District National Park, but as it was already afternoon and we missed a bus, we decided to give up. Instead, we explored the area around the hotel and enjoyed some slow time on the swings, which was also a great experience.

The property and the ambience is lovely. The view from the restaurant garden is very pleasant and beautiful. The room size, bathroom size and amenities were good. We faced 1 major problem to be precise which made us a bit sore. Cleanliness - the room was clean except for the carpet. It didn’t feel like it was vacuumed. There was probably a pet staying in that room before us and there was a lot of hair on the carpet. I understand it is a pet friendly property and I have absolutely no problem with that. But cleaning the room properly before the next checkin is a basic expectation. We couldn’t step on the floor without our feet being covered with hair. Apart from that, everything else was very good. Breakfast was also good and the customer service was very polite and hospitable as well.

The scenery is very good! ! The picturesque scenery, as mentioned in many reviews, the hotel itself is a scene. The traditional English manor style, blooming gardens, and tranquil lakeside all make people linger. During this trip to the Lake District, I went to the town center and ambleside. It is not an exaggeration to say that I personally feel that only by staying at the Langdale Chase Hotel can we truly appreciate the beauty of the Lake District. The attitude of the staff is also relatively good. The hotel is about 5 kilometers from the railway station and a taxi is 10 pounds; it is about 2 kilometers from the ambleside pier. You can also take a bus to these two towns, but the bus stop is five to six hundred meters away from the hotel, which is not particularly recommended. If you are not driving by yourself, it is better to take a taxi. If you are taking a taxi, it is best to call the front desk. It usually takes ten minutes. If you are in a hurry, it is best to advance. The toilet facilities are slightly outdated, but there is no major impact. The lake view room I stayed this time was quite spacious with a balcony. Overall, very satisfied!

The feeling of an English country villa is very cozy. When traveling with a family, we thought that three people would squeeze into one bed, but when we came back, we found that the service staff had put up a folding bed. The service staff was very nice. If there was no service staff after 7pm, you could call if you needed anything, and enter and exit the hotel by yourself with the key. The restaurant is warm and clean, the service is good, and the dishes are also rich. It has its own independent parking lot. I will recommend it to my friends.

Lounge (common area) is Cosy, there is a piano for guest to play! Yet, the room is rather small, especially the toilet and the shower area. Great (4) choice of breakfast, and delicious. Guest can use a health club (gym) of a local area for free, but it is some 10 mins drive from the hotel according to the host. It'd be much better if the room is air-conditioned.

Very cozy little hotel, run by a Chinese couple, very friendly and welcoming. I studied here, came here for a holiday, and settled on this hotel. Although I feel that the house is more chronological, the real number is very well preserved, the decoration is exquisite, clean and tidy, and the details are great. It is only 5 minutes walk from the train station. The town is not big. It is also very convenient to go to other towns on foot or by bus. I booked a single room, the decoration made people feel comfortable and warm, and the hygiene was great. I must call for breakfast. I have been in the UK for a month. This is the best meal I have ever moved. Overall highly recommended

The hotel lobby has a very British aristocratic style, and each restaurant is very distinctive, but my favorite is the breakfast restaurant. It is so beautiful and comfortable to sit by the window, look at the lake through the green lawn, and eat English breakfast. We ordered dinner, which was also very good, especially the appetizers. The room is also very large, and we can see the lake in our room. It is very shocking to get up in the morning and look at the lake under the blue sky and white clouds. The facilities are also very good. It is a hotel that is worth staying in many times.

The walk from the bus to the hotel is quite steep, so it's not recommended for solo travelers (especially with luggage). There's no elevator, and the staff needed help carrying luggage. Since I was traveling alone, I booked a single room. Looking up the website, I remember there were three single rooms available, and the view from the one I was assigned wasn't particularly good. However, the interior was relatively new and clean, and I was particularly pleased with the spacious shower in the bathroom. The toiletries were very nice, and they also provided small cookies, snacks, and a bottle of mineral water upon check-in. There are some great deals on the hotel website for spring and summer, so check before booking. The highly recommended breakfast is also available on a la carte basis. I noticed a window seat available, but the staff refused twice. The third time, they reluctantly offered to move me to a window seat, saying ”Oh my God!” so I deducted a point for their service. However, the view was beautiful. Overall, I recommend this for solo backpackers or for booking a signature room for two.

The environment was exceptionally beautiful, showing the owner has excellent taste, especially considering they booked a room with a view. However, the bathroom layout was inconvenient; there wasn't enough space for my makeup bag and other belongings, and the toilet and sink were right next to each other in my room, making it quite cramped. The male owner was very welcoming, while the female owner was rather aloof. Overall, they were quite friendly, but there were minor issues during my two-day stay regarding the heating, windows, exhaust fan, and bathtub. The issues weren't serious, but it was frustrating that I couldn't reach them for several hours via Ctrip or the phone and email they provided. The breakfast was good, but nowhere near as good as the breakfast at the previous hotel, J… The price was relatively high when I booked, but it dropped significantly two weeks later, probably due to the off-season. This is just for your reference.

The scenery around the Lake District is absolutely stunning, and based on the hotel’s impressive rating (9.7 at the time of booking), we were genuinely looking forward to a pleasant and comfortable stay. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. To begin with, the shower in Room 5 was in very poor condition — the water pressure was extremely low and, more importantly, the temperature fluctuated constantly, swinging from cold to scalding without warning. It made showering frustrating and uncomfortable. A friend staying in Room 4 said their shower was acceptable, so hopefully this issue was just limited to our room. Secondly, while we booked three consecutive nights, the weather in April after rain can be quite chilly in the Lake District. Unfortunately, the central heating in our room seemed to stop working around midnight — when we woke up cold at 1am, the radiators were lukewarm at best. We asked the host for a small electric heater, which they provided. The next day, we left the heater on while we went out for lunch, so the room would be warm when we returned. However, the host turned it off while we were out and told us we weren’t allowed to leave it on because “electricity is expensive.” This felt unreasonable — we booked the room for three nights and expected to be able to use basic appliances to ensure a minimum level of comfort. Utility costs should be part of the price, not passed on to guests indirectly like this. Finally, the host’s attitude was hard to interpret — consistently unfriendly, which made us feel unwelcome. We couldn’t help but wonder if our Asian appearance played a part. On the day of checkout, there was no flexibility at all. At exactly 11:00am, the host entered the room to start cleaning, even though we were still in the middle of packing. It was quite surprising (and honestly, a bit shocking) to see someone come in and begin changing the sheets while we were still inside, especially when just a few minutes of grace time would not have delayed anything for the next guest, but certainly affected our impression. All in all, if you advertise yourself as a hotel, you should operate to hotel standards. If you position yourself as a highly rated guesthouse or B&B, then please live up to the expectations that come with that score. Sadly, based on our experience, this place falls far short of the 9.7 rating it currently holds.

I booked a room for 3 people, on the top floor, the room size is okay, there is room for luggage. The facilities are new and the mattresses are comfortable. The landlord is very enthusiastic, and my son chatted with him very happily. I must give him a good comment. Breakfast is also very good, with a set of bread, bacon, omelette per person, yogurt and fruit buffet. The hotel is located in the middle of the railway station and the pier, and there is a 599 bus stop at the door. When I arrived, I felt that it was a long way from the train station, but after getting familiar with it, I thought it was okay.

The service was great and friendly. However, the ventilator in my bathroom was broken, causing inconvenience. And, if you are looking for a AC during summer visit, you might need to change another one. But overall, worth to visit and stay!

Its in a lovely location and close to Ambleside and Windermere. We had requested a quiet room but was put at the top of the stairs, so we could hear everyone coming and going. It was quite noisy till very late at night. We had a bath which was great, but there was no shower gel. It was a very warm hotel, if you love that, then great. I had to leave windows open all night as it was so warm and it was a cold night. However all that being said, the room was great and had everything we needed. The food was really great, hats off to the chef 😁 The staff were all really lovely and friendly. I would very much recommend a stay here.

The hotel is located halfway up the mountain with beautiful scenery, but getting in and out is a bit inconvenient. You either need to drive yourself or take a taxi. The hotel is quite old and has no elevator. Since we arrived early, we checked in, stored our luggage, and went out. By the time we returned to the hotel, our luggage had already been thoughtfully placed in our room. Because the building is old, the floorboards creak quite loudly when you walk in the room. The room has both heating and air conditioning. The breakfast buffet is quite simple, with juice, cheese, bread, yogurt, and some salami-like meats. You can also order an English breakfast from the menu. Unfortunately, the Michelin-starred restaurant was closed those two days, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, the environment is good, and it's worth a stay.

Rum Doodle, well it was our first time at The Lakes and it certainly won't be our last! The location was just right with being part way between Windermere town and Bowness and was walkable to both. There were plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in walking distance as well as lake Windermere itself. We found Rum Doodle with ease and was greeted at the door with a smile and friendly man (the owner but didn't catch his name). We were bought a fresh glass of apple and orange juice to our room which was refreshing after a long drive to Windermere. Our room was comfy, not too big or too small, a wardrobe, seating in the bay window, hairdryer, hot drink making facilities, wine glasses with cork screw and bottle opener. Very modern, clean and well presented bathroom with soft and fluffy towels, and a really nice shower. The bed was very comfortable and welcomed after a busy day exploring the surrounding area. Breakfast was really good with cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt, toast, and then a choice of breakfast which were great too. We had a pleasant and informative chat at breakfast with the lady that works there who gave us the heads up on some driving routes to try and avoid which was really useful. After a day out exploring we went back to Rum Doodle to a cleaned room and freshly made bed with the tea and coffee replenished, so we were able to just drop and the bed with a nice cuppa and biscuit. Then out for a walk, some lovely food and a couple of drinks. We couldn't recommend The Lakes and Rum Doodle enough! Well worth every penny

The price of the homestay for more than 1,000 nights is very general. I went early and the boss was very unhappy. I opened a door and wore a nightgown and pulled my face. This is a family hotel, I didn't notice it when I booked it. The room was clean and it was a 15-minute walk from the ferry in the town. The landlord had a lot of rules: for example, you can't bring food from the restaurant back to the room, put your shoes on the tray, check out at 10 o'clock, and you can't store your bag after checking out.

The local homestay in a well-regulated location is very close to Windermere and a few minutes walk. But it’s a little far from Bowness, and it takes15-20 minutes to walk. This distance is really not very friendly to people traveling on foot. Although it is a homestay, the boss is very professional and the service is in place. I don't know if there is a professional guide. The room was cleaned. Especially the breakfast, it is really rich, there are many choices, you can take some time when you choose. I was tired at night and came back to soak in a big bathtub, which was very relieved. The only regret is that the kitchen cannot be used, and it is not enough to make it delicious. However, it is understandable that after all, cleaning, and the use and supplement of kitchen condiments are not easy to control. Recommended stay.

The hotel is located in the most bustling town in the Lake District, with plenty of shops and businesses. It's about a 5-6 minute walk to the lakeside pier. I booked a king room and a quad room. The quad room was in the building with the spa, and there was a bar downstairs. It felt a bit cramped for four people, and the bathroom was extremely small, plus there was only one. The king room in the main building where you check in was quite good. We stayed for two nights, and the breakfast was excellent with a good variety of fruits, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely time.

Breakfast, ordered a day in advance, is prepared by the owner himself and is both exquisite and hearty. The only downside was that it was a bit hot during our two nights there, and there was no air conditioning. There might be a fan, but we couldn't find one...

This is a family hotel, I didn't notice it when I booked it. The room was clean and it was a 15-minute walk from the ferry in the town. The self-service check-in was very convenient. I chose an English breakfast for breakfast. I found that there was no heating in the morning, and it was a bit cold in the second half of the night. The one-night stay was okay. There was luggage storage and it was close to the station. I hiked to the top of the mountain to watch the sunset. It was a three-kilometer round trip, perfect⛰️

Excellent location, surrounded by many teahouses and shops. Beautiful environment, clean and tidy, comfortable room, and a variety of drinks available. Steve and Hayley were very friendly, and the breakfast was rich, especially the different types of smoked fish, which was delicious.

Traditional friendly guest house. Nice , clean bedroom with en suite shower room. 5 mins walk to Windermere centre, easy access to Bowness. Owners were friendly and welcoming with good knowledge of local attractions. We would stay again if in the area.

The hotel is located directly across from Lake Windermere, nestled on a hillside. There are many small rabbits hopping around, and flocks of sheep peacefully grazing on the grassy slopes next to the hotel. You can also find plenty of blackberries in the nearby fields, which are quite tasty. The external environment is absolutely beautiful, with lots of lavender and other flowers in the hotel's courtyard, where plump bees busily fly around collecting nectar. On the hillside overlooking the road, there are several swings facing Lake Windermere for guests to enjoy, offering panoramic views of the lake just across the way. Next to the swings, there are a few apple trees bearing fruit. Lazily swinging here makes you feel like the whole world slows down. Our room, the Hazel room, was quite spacious, featuring a large bed (I'm not sure if it was two single beds pushed together or one with two mattresses) and a sofa bed. The bathroom was also very large, with both a shower and a bathtub. There aren't many restaurants near the hotel, but fortunately, the hotel's restaurant is decent, and the prices are comparable to other establishments. For public transport, you're reliant on buses, which aren't very frequent. We initially wanted to go to the town and the Lake District National Park, but as it was already afternoon and we missed a bus, we decided to give up. Instead, we explored the area around the hotel and enjoyed some slow time on the swings, which was also a great experience.

The quad room was in the building with the spa, and there was a bar downstairs. It felt a bit cramped for four people, and the bathroom was extremely small, plus there was only one. The king room in the main building where you check in was quite good. We stayed for two nights, and the breakfast was excellent with a good variety of fruits, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely time.

The service was great and friendly. However, the ventilator in my bathroom was broken, causing inconvenience. And, if you are looking for a AC during summer visit, you might need to change another one. But overall, worth to visit and stay!

The surrounding area is quiet and good for walks or hikes. The hotel room itself was quite large and breakfast was decent although the dining room seemed to have difficulty coping with the high number of guests. Overall, fair value for the price.
