This was the second time my husband and I stayed at this luxurious new resort style hotel in/near Windermere. It was part of a longer trip, and again we stayed in the posh Winander Suites keyed access building. Breakfast is great as you get to eat from both the breakfast buffet, and also order hot food from the menu. The staff here are always 10 out of 10 excellent for both in the spa and the hotel itself. A couple of them even remembered us from the year prior! It's great having so many dining and drinking options on site... one never really needs to leave. I really enjoy the keyed access for the Winander and additional for the room hallways. There is parking on site and a guard at the gate. I know we will continue to visit here for many years to come!

The scenery is very good! ! The picturesque scenery, as mentioned in many reviews, the hotel itself is a scene. The traditional English manor style, blooming gardens, and tranquil lakeside all make people linger. During this trip to the Lake District, I went to the town center and ambleside. It is not an exaggeration to say that I personally feel that only by staying at the Langdale Chase Hotel can we truly appreciate the beauty of the Lake District. The attitude of the staff is also relatively good. The hotel is about 5 kilometers from the railway station and a taxi is 10 pounds; it is about 2 kilometers from the ambleside pier. You can also take a bus to these two towns, but the bus stop is five to six hundred meters away from the hotel, which is not particularly recommended. If you are not driving by yourself, it is better to take a taxi. If you are taking a taxi, it is best to call the front desk. It usually takes ten minutes. If you are in a hurry, it is best to advance. The toilet facilities are slightly outdated, but there is no major impact. The lake view room I stayed this time was quite spacious with a balcony. Overall, very satisfied!

It feels like a family B&B. You can only check in in the afternoon. It is a separate villa. The hydrangeas in the courtyard are beautiful. It is very nice to have afternoon tea in the small courtyard on a sunny day. It is very close to Windermere Railway Station, suitable for those who are unable to drive by themselves. It is about 20 minutes' walk from the town of Bowness. When I made the reservation, only the loft room type was left. The spiral staircase would be a bit inconvenient. I felt that this room type was only suitable for young people. If you don't have to live by the lake, this price is still relatively high in Windermere. Breakfast is a typical English breakfast, but the service is quite enthusiastic. In addition to breakfast, each person will receive a piece of cake every day. Although the taste is relatively ordinary, you can also bring some supplies when you go hiking. I recommend a Chinese takeaway restaurant run by a Hong Konger in Windermere. The Sin Chew fried rice and curry rice are both delicious haha.

The room is very stylish. Our room was fine except for the street which was noisy. I especially recommend breakfast. You need to book with the front desk before 6pm the night before. It is freshly made in the morning and very delicious! You can't miss it. The hotel is in a good location, walking distance to the train station and Bowness.

The room was lovely, the right size for a couple, generally well thought out & very clean. My only challenge was not being able to sit at the desk/dressing table & see in the mirror. Due to the sloped ceiling the mirror was too low / the stool was too high. A minor inconvenience really. The shower pressure was good though which we enjoyed. Breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked. Staff were friendly & helpful - even recommending walks & restaurants etc. Would go back.

The hotel lobby has a very British aristocratic style, and each restaurant is very distinctive, but my favorite is the breakfast restaurant. It is so beautiful and comfortable to sit by the window, look at the lake through the green lawn, and eat English breakfast. We ordered dinner, which was also very good, especially the appetizers. The room is also very large, and we can see the lake in our room. It is very shocking to get up in the morning and look at the lake under the blue sky and white clouds. The facilities are also very good. It is a hotel that is worth staying in many times.

The scenery around the Lake District is absolutely stunning, and based on the hotel’s impressive rating (9.7 at the time of booking), we were genuinely looking forward to a pleasant and comfortable stay. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. To begin with, the shower in Room 5 was in very poor condition — the water pressure was extremely low and, more importantly, the temperature fluctuated constantly, swinging from cold to scalding without warning. It made showering frustrating and uncomfortable. A friend staying in Room 4 said their shower was acceptable, so hopefully this issue was just limited to our room. Secondly, while we booked three consecutive nights, the weather in April after rain can be quite chilly in the Lake District. Unfortunately, the central heating in our room seemed to stop working around midnight — when we woke up cold at 1am, the radiators were lukewarm at best. We asked the host for a small electric heater, which they provided. The next day, we left the heater on while we went out for lunch, so the room would be warm when we returned. However, the host turned it off while we were out and told us we weren’t allowed to leave it on because “electricity is expensive.” This felt unreasonable — we booked the room for three nights and expected to be able to use basic appliances to ensure a minimum level of comfort. Utility costs should be part of the price, not passed on to guests indirectly like this. Finally, the host’s attitude was hard to interpret — consistently unfriendly, which made us feel unwelcome. We couldn’t help but wonder if our Asian appearance played a part. On the day of checkout, there was no flexibility at all. At exactly 11:00am, the host entered the room to start cleaning, even though we were still in the middle of packing. It was quite surprising (and honestly, a bit shocking) to see someone come in and begin changing the sheets while we were still inside, especially when just a few minutes of grace time would not have delayed anything for the next guest, but certainly affected our impression. All in all, if you advertise yourself as a hotel, you should operate to hotel standards. If you position yourself as a highly rated guesthouse or B&B, then please live up to the expectations that come with that score. Sadly, based on our experience, this place falls far short of the 9.7 rating it currently holds.

Rum Doodle, well it was our first time at The Lakes and it certainly won't be our last! The location was just right with being part way between Windermere town and Bowness and was walkable to both. There were plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in walking distance as well as lake Windermere itself. We found Rum Doodle with ease and was greeted at the door with a smile and friendly man (the owner but didn't catch his name). We were bought a fresh glass of apple and orange juice to our room which was refreshing after a long drive to Windermere. Our room was comfy, not too big or too small, a wardrobe, seating in the bay window, hairdryer, hot drink making facilities, wine glasses with cork screw and bottle opener. Very modern, clean and well presented bathroom with soft and fluffy towels, and a really nice shower. The bed was very comfortable and welcomed after a busy day exploring the surrounding area. Breakfast was really good with cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt, toast, and then a choice of breakfast which were great too. We had a pleasant and informative chat at breakfast with the lady that works there who gave us the heads up on some driving routes to try and avoid which was really useful. After a day out exploring we went back to Rum Doodle to a cleaned room and freshly made bed with the tea and coffee replenished, so we were able to just drop and the bed with a nice cuppa and biscuit. Then out for a walk, some lovely food and a couple of drinks. We couldn't recommend The Lakes and Rum Doodle enough! Well worth every penny

The price of the homestay for more than 1,000 nights is very general. I went early and the boss was very unhappy. I opened a door and wore a nightgown and pulled my face. The local homestay in a well-regulated location is very close to Windermere and a few minutes walk. But it’s a little far from Bowness, and it takes15-20 minutes to walk. This distance is really not very friendly to people traveling on foot. Although it is a homestay, the boss is very professional and the service is in place. I don't know if there is a professional guide. The room was cleaned. Especially the breakfast, it is really rich, there are many choices, you can take some time when you choose. I was tired at night and came back to soak in a big bathtub, which was very relieved. The only regret is that the kitchen cannot be used, and it is not enough to make it delicious. However, it is understandable that after all, cleaning, and the use and supplement of kitchen condiments are not easy to control. Recommended stay.

The hotel is in a great location the staff are very helpful & pleasent however the hotel & rooms are tired & a bit small. There isn't a fridge in the room, the bathroom nightlight didn't work nor did the hairdryer it was also not possible to turn the towel heating rail off so having it on all day & night caused the room to be constantly hot (no air con). The bathroom is small however the shower was excellent unfortunately the shower tray had a couple of large cracks which had been covered over with (discoloured) tape which made it look scruffy. Breakfast was average, the breakfast room looked like it was waiting for an overhaul & the food was limited but ok. Not sure I would stay here again there are other hotels for a similar price that, despite the lack of sea view, are far superior.

The house is located in Windermere, the whole house is well decorated, clean and tidy. It should be a family hotel, with a total of three floors and a room of 7-8. Our room is quite big, a four-poster double bed, a pair of bedside tables, a pair of sofa chairs plus a coffee table, as well as a wardrobe and a five-case cabinet, it feels like we used the tabletop, it is better to change to a desk, because I can squeeze on a small bedside table when I need a laptop . There is also the wash basin in the bathroom can put hand sanitizer and facial cleanser, if you install a small cabinet on it, you can put toiletries and skin care products, etc. The breakfast is very good, it is checked on the menu every night, so that it can satisfy everyone's taste and avoid waste. Very good 👍🏻 We went by car. There are private parking spaces in the yard, and you can park your car. It seems that you can park for free on both sides of the road outside the yard. There is a bus stop at the door. Although we did not take it, we specially looked at the stop sign and it should be possible to surround the entire lake area. We walked to the cruise ship terminal on the first day and it took about 20 minutes. Drived on the second day Grasmell, it takes about a quarter of an hour. In short, it is recommended that visitors to the Lake District stay at this hotel.

It's an old house converted into a B&B, so there's no elevator, so you had to carry your luggage upstairs. The room was spacious and quite clean. ”We stayed at this homestay for three nights. We arrived around 11:00 pm, but the host uncle still welcomed us very warmly!! That night we didn’t really notice the outside layout, but the next morning we saw that the garden is absolutely beautiful. We stayed in Room No. 3 – a very artistic queen/king bed room with a jacuzzi, some snacks, milk, and bottled water. The room layout is exquisite, and you can tell the host put a lot of love into it 💝 Breakfast was also delicious!! There are several set options to choose from – just let the host know the day before. There’s also a small fridge in the room where you can store your own drinks. Breakfast includes bread, small snacks, and orange juice. I really highly recommend it (loved it 😘 – it feels like home). The homestay has only five rooms, so availability is quite limited, but I still want to recommend it to as many people as possible!”

Would highly recommend this spot if you’re looking to stay in the Lake District. The house is nearby the Windermere Station & the Windermere Library making it very easy for us to explore via the bus routes. Very clean & great amenities + Garry was very helpful with us recommendations! Would go back for our next trip!

GGuest UserWould highly recommend this spot if you’re looking to stay in the Lake District. The house is nearby the Windermere Station & the Windermere Library making it very easy for us to explore via the bus routes. Very clean & great amenities + Garry was very helpful with us recommendations! Would go back for our next trip!

The place was amazing and situated in a great place. Very near to a lot of amenities like bars and restaurants plus some shops. The staff were amazing and so polite. We was made to feel like we was at home. Our room was huge and had a great view of the gardens. Breakfast was outstanding and very tasty highly recommend. We will definitely be staying here again in the future

The YHA is situated between two lovely towns, Ambleside and Windermere, offering the perfect opportunity for a variety of walks. The staff were very helpful and polite, and the view from the hostel’s patio was breathtaking. Our room was spotlessly clean, and the beds were very comfortable. Thank you – we had an absolutely fabulous time!

A couple of them even remembered us from the year prior! It's great having so many dining and drinking options on site... one never really needs to leave. I really enjoy the keyed access for the Winander and additional for the room hallways. There is parking on site and a guard at the gate. I know we will continue to visit here for many years to come!

It was part of a longer trip, and again we stayed in the posh Winander Suites keyed access building. Breakfast is great as you get to eat from both the breakfast buffet, and also order hot food from the menu. The staff here are always 10 out of 10 excellent for both in the spa and the hotel itself. The best part was their breakfast, which you order from the menu and was delicious. Dinner reservations are required. I was careless and didn't make it this time, so I missed out. If you go again, please remember to make reservations! Important things can't be said enough.

Upon arrival there was nobody at the front desk so I waited. The woman I was somewhat greated by was far from pleasant and didn’t seem like she wanted to be there at all. Nothing was explained and no information leaflet for me to read through in my own time. When given my room key I started walking through the lobby but couldn’t see any signs for my room number. Went back to the desk to ask where to go for my room and was told ‘just follow it round’. Very unhelpful and unwelcoming, not sure this lady should be at the face of the hotel. Plus side, room was beautiful and well kept/clean. I was also lake side so got to watch the sunrise with my morning cuppa. Very refreshing views.

The hotel is in a great location the staff are very helpful & pleasent however the hotel & rooms are tired & a bit small. There isn't a fridge in the room, the bathroom nightlight didn't work nor did the hairdryer it was also not possible to turn the towel heating rail off so having it on all day & night caused the room to be constantly hot (no air con). The bathroom is small however the shower was excellent unfortunately the shower tray had a couple of large cracks which had been covered over with (discoloured) tape which made it look scruffy. Breakfast was average, the breakfast room looked like it was waiting for an overhaul & the food was limited but ok. Not sure I would stay here again there are other hotels for a similar price that, despite the lack of sea view, are far superior.
