New Gardens is a good mid budget hotel, air con was super cold, there was always hot water and the fridge worked well. I was on ground floor a stones throw from pool, bar/restaurant area. All staff were brilliant and really friendly. Food was defo above average for DR and very reasonably priced, I had breakfast included and this was always good and plentiful. Hotel is very "guest friendly" but not an issue for me. I was the only single female checked in but I felt comfortable, safe and welcome. The other guests were all male but they were friendly, always spoke to me, and the girls they were with were always polite. I would defo stay there again, but I would request a room in the back away from the road as this was very noisy.

I usually stay at New Garden but its cheaper to stay here weekly...... Good vibe..... Decent room with a balcony....cool bar down stairs...... Every morning I get the Dominican plate for 200 pesos.... My only issue with this hotel is..... If you get a room on the side of the street..... You can hear the motorcycle all night going by.....and its 10min walk to the beach and strip.....and at night one of the security dudes are cool but the other one seems to flirt with every domician girl I bring back.......

This is a great little hotel in a great location. A short 1-2 minute walk to beautiful Playa Alicia and 3-4 minutes to the bars and restaurants of Sosua. The rooms themselves are a bit on the basic side, but it was very clean and the beds are comfortable. Bring your own shampoo. Tiny soaps are provided, but not washcloths. I was here in August, and the AC struggled a bit to keep the room cool. The pool area is beautiful. I loved having a room where I could walk out of my back door right onto the deck of the pool area. The owners/managers of the hotel are fantastic. Great communication before my stay and very responsive to my needs throughout the week. I messed up and took a swim with my cellphone in my pocket. Andrew knows what he is doing, and he took my phone for a day or so, and made it functional. I ended up buying a new one when I got home, but I appreciated his efforts going above and beyond to help me. The restaurant was great and convenient for breakfast. I ate here every morning and I loved the fresh fruit. This puts those chain-hotel breakfasts in the USA to shame. Overall a really nice place, and I would love to come back and visit again!

Resorts have too many rules and are mostly for families down here but I gave this place a try because of the location...... Its a calm relaxing spot near the party strip.....nice pool with a great view.... Nice restaurant..... And for the single travelers they let you have one guess at a time...... More of a up scale singles hotel but I really enjoyed my stay.....

非常棒的酒店,沙滩海水满分,性价比超级高! 除了卫生间的设计有些不合理的地方,其他超五星! Excellent hotel, excellent service! Great experience! Can’t ask more for a five star all-inclusive hotel. The entertainment team is amazing! A minor problem: the basin in the bathroom seems too small as the pressure of the water is quite good.

My family traveled for spring break, and below are the notes I made while there: Good: Very little patrons. No lines. Easy access to all amenities. Super Pool Villa size is quaint and private. Butler service is very nice. Food at WokWok is the best regarding flavor. Experience at Spacewalker was fun and the tables were appropriately spaced from nearby families (ie not on top of people) My children lived on cheeseburgers and fries everywhere. Side menu wine list is sufficient and reasonable. The dolphin excursion was worth the money...have a mojito there! Bad: The beach is not turquoise and solitude. Rather it is rough and sand ends up in every orifice. Super Pool Villa should be a heated pool....it’s always shaded so too cold to enjoy. No hot tubs any where on-site. In general, the people visiting are not friendly...I smiled and or engaged with everyone and got a smirk about one in ten people. Attendants to room ring bell 3 times rapidly and then enter before you have time to answer. Turn down service at 9pm...way too late. Definitely best for children under 10. The preteens do not have much to do and are policed out of the kiddie areas. Let me rephrase, if your child is over 10 then do not come here! Zero fresh fish options! It rained our whole trip...there are no options if it rains I.e. no theater, no game house, no sheltered fun places for adults and kids....unless you are 4! The pool swim up bar is a joke....they sing and dance and wait until you wave them down for a drink and then wait for your tip. If no tip, then you wait longer next time. Call the bar tender Papi and give him $1 and you will get better service....so embarrassing really. The countryside is dirty. Driving into the property from the airport had trash and debris all along the road. There is a portion of land unoccupied beside the hotel (immediately adjacent to the cabanas) where the beach side is riddled with trash bags and discarded trash....no one picks up trash. In general the property seems dirty. Everywhere we walked there was trash or the public bathrooms needed service. Do not expect greater service if you book the Super Pool Villa...you will get the same service in any room. The beach side service sucks! There is no food allowed and the service attendant appears about every hour ...despite me tipping heavily! I just don’t get it? The towel card situation is ridiculous!!!! Food is the Golden Coral of the islands! I don’t even like to discuss price in my reviews, but I will make an exception here....for the money we spent here which was about 15k for one week, we could have gone anywhere in the world and we have regretted all that we spent at Karisma Nickeldeon Punta Cana! I would recommend the Karisma locations in Mexico hands down! We have been to the El Dorado Royale, Casitas, the Palafitos, and Maroma. All of the aforementioned were amazing! But this Punta Cana experience has been a dud to say the least.

Stayed from 10th of March to 21st of March 2020, in all-inclusive version I must start by saying is a lovely resort; there is a great variety of food and alcohol. Stayed on the adult side of the hotel, which was great. Looking to just relax out from European winter this is one of the place to stay. Positive points: • Staff very respectful, helpful and happy. • Enough sunbeds available on the beach. No need to book them at 6 am. • ~13 restaurants available on both part of the hotel. • Pools are cleaned daily. • Rooms are daily cleaned and fridge refurnished. • An army of gardeners keeping environment green and friendly. • Fresh juices bar on the beach is excellent. This has been said weather conditions of the Rep Dom help a lot to be in good mood….. There are also negative points and two jokes. • Villa 44 we had our room need to be renewed. Room doors are not hermetic anymore. • Room itself have been designed in the 90th , and aren’t anymore up to date • Fitness rooms is the 1st joke. As soon 6 peoples are exercising, fitness room on adult side is full. Fitness room on family hotel site can accept 8 peoples maximum. If both hotels are complete there are +/- 1’500 peoples • Tried to have a run on the beach but got charged by 7 street dogs. So I gave up, ran on the golf beside the resort but again street dogs appeared. • Lobster festival is the 2nd joke. USD 55/person for one and half big prawns. Having complained to hotel management about, they did not care to it just answering you don’t want it…. just let it. Strange reaction for a manager…. Demotivated ? • Due to Corona virus crisis, many customers have cancelled their booking. For economic reasons management decided to close family hotel site on March 19th and moved family with the kids to adult side, then the nightmare started. We have paid for a service we did not fully received. That a lack of respect to customers • To postpone check out from noon to 6.00 p.m. hotel would have charged us USD 50. A new joke. Seaweed are cleaned all around the day, unfortunately they are always coming back. Bathing in the ocean is just a dream.

My partner wanted her girlfriend from Canada to enjoy her vacation in the Dominican Republic & as she arrived at the Punta Cana airport, I highly recommended that we stay at the excellent Westin Punta Cana Resort & Club. During this pandemic the sanitary security of an establishment has become an absolute must & the Westin does a truly great & safe job. Temperature checks are mandatory for all guests checking-in & should someone have fever the hotel arranges for a COVID-19 Rapid Test. There are hydro-alcoholic disinfectants throughout the whole hotel, plus all staff uses masks & areas are constantly being disinfected. Ingrid Herrera, the General Manager, greeted us personally upon arrival & as we are good Westin customers enrolled in the Bonvoy reward program she very kindly upgraded to a Junior Suite overlooking the sea, free of charge. The beach is one if the best ones in the Caribbean, spectacular restaurants with great service for food & beverages, súper comfortable & cosy accomodations, a full & very functional gym, an Impressive pool, friendly bars & a full service cigar shop. On weekends they have a live band that plays local & international songs, plus most days there is a theme activity like Dominican evening, barbecue day, etc... On top of all of this, the value for money is unbelievable at this time & a real must to get away from curfews & closed Businesses at home. This is really a safe piece of Caribbean paradise for a well deserved vacation!

We moved from a hotel in Cap Cana that was very nice but were looking for a different experience since we are trying to find places close tho the US for a getaway from the cold months in New England. We hit the jackpot when we found Tortuga Bay Hotel in Punta Cana. . The check in process was quick and we went immediately to our room...WOW, Stunning views and the beach just steps from your room. We had a golf cart that gave us the little bit of freedom to roam the resort.. Every part of the resort was immaculately cared for. All the food was delicious and the Six Senses Spa devine. Everyone on property knew our names and always greeted us when we went to any of the restaurants. We WILL be back!

Because of the early flight and the hotel is near, I chose it! Old-brand hotel chains, management, service, facilities and equipment, hygiene and supporting facilities are all very good! 1.1 km from Punta Cana International Airport, about 5 minutes by car, the hotel has a shuttle bus to the airport, you can make an appointment in advance! Because the flight was too early, I didn’t have breakfast, I don’t know what happened! Slippers and toothpaste are not provided in the room. All the cups are disposable! The hotel is not on the beach, there is a burger shop and several restaurants nearby, two banks! There is no small supermarket, the water and snacks in the hotel lobby are super expensive, 4 times the price outside! The price is average!

This was our first time at an Iberostar and my first time in the Dominican Republic. Overall: clean, well-located, amazing beach, great staff, ok food The Room: Ours was in the middle of the building, second floor facing the pool, we could see the ocean from our balcony too. We could hear the entertainment in the evening but never found it too disruptive. Our room had been updated sometime in the last few years. I wish the bathroom had been bigger or that the toilet was separated but it wasn't a huge issue. The bed was comfortable enough though still on the harder side. The Food: The food was fine, a lot of variety but things were often not labeled correctly. Quality was good but not amazing. The a la carte restaurants were also ok but not amazing. I had no stomach issues at the resort whatsoever from either the food or the filtered water they serve. The Beach - AMAZING what a fantastic location and great swimming. It does drop off fairly quickly for folks travelling with little ones but it's a nice sandy bottom. It can get rough but we swam even on the red flag days. Despite the signs, everyone reserves chairs so it's best to get out in the morning and do so if you want a prime spot in the busy seasons like march break. The beach vendors can be annoying but are generally respectful when you say no. We also felt comfortable leaving our bags on our chairs while swimming. The Staff - helpful and friendly regardless of whether you tipped or not (though we almost always did.)

One of the complaints of this resort is it's due for an upgrade. Don't disagree. Dreams is older and it shows. But for me, that's part of the allure. It's kind of shabby chic island living that felt POSITIVELY right. I thought the resort was top notch. The beach was awesome. Not as many beach lice hogging chairs and cabanas as I've seen at other resorts. We took long, long beach walks. The resort’s meandering pool was so nice and relaxing. Our room was great as was the location of the room in the resort. I would always recommend Building 6. The Preferred Club was FIRST rate. Seriously, the Preferred upgrade is so, so, so worth it! The staff throughout the resort was friendly, engaging, helpful and attentive. I thought the service was excellent to the point where for the first time in a long time, I almost ran out of tip money. A shout out to Daniel in the Preferred Club and Guillermo (sp?) in the Oceana. Food was OK but that’s alright. Not bad but nothing to write home about though the Teppanyaki grill at Himitsu was fabulous – we went twice! Not much for entertainment but again no complaints there…we were there to decompress, relax and watch life meander past us…which is so easy with a nice, cold beer in hand. The Preferred Club check in process was less than desirable. I felt mishandled especially with respect to my privacy/security. And AMSTAR was HORRID! My travel agent and Apple Vacations are addressing AMSTAR. Bottom line- I'd go back to Dreams in a heartbeat and hope to return. I'd handle the check in process differently and avoid AMSTAR like the plague.

Los corales beach village has apartments built right in front of the beach, make sure to get one of those if you are a beach person. There are mini-markets, restaurants, pharmacies, gift shops, within 5 minutes walking distance. As for room conditions, I must say that both my wife and myself were expecting for a lot more than what we got. The room is not as depicted in the pictures, instead of two king beds, we found one king bed and one queen, we got a regular sofa instead of the L shaped sofa portrayed, and there is no A/C in the living room... Also, the apartment is not fully equipped. No washing machine, no dish soap nor sponge to do the dishes, we had to call reception to get matches to turn on the stove, the pots for cooking do not have a lid, no salt, no sugar... The apartment serves your most basic needs like running water, hot water, A/C only for the rooms... but it is definitely screaming to be renewed.

We were there the week of March 11-18 and in that time the COVID-19 virus changed the world outside! Here is a review of our stay putting aside the issues that the world was experiencing. Check-in was slow and we had to leave our luggage at the front for 3 hours before our room was ready. Room as clean and that's all we could ask for. It was maintained daily with no issues. Restocking of fridge was done occassionally but if you call room service, they will run you down some warm beer! Resort is huge! You have to take a trolly from the the front to the back where the main pool/beach is. Walking in that heat can be a bit much so having it was nice. The trolly comes frequently so not an issue. Beverages were available at all bars and not an issue. Food at the buffet was great. Something for everyone. Displayed nicely and plenty to be had. The table service for coffee/tea in the morning was not so good. Nobody came and if you did get someone, they didn't speak English, would leave like they understood and maybe come back with an order by the time you were done your meal. They were usually very good about bringing water though. Beach is absolutely beautiful and there are lots of chairs/huts but you have to get there early (before 8) to towel your chair for the day even though there are signs everywhere saying you can't do that. Otherwise, you are out of luck! Same with main pool. Al la cart dinner at the Garden Grill was our parties favourite. Greek was very nice too. The beach lunch buffet was also very good and beautiful to sit at for lunch. Now for the "bad" Language - unless you speak French or Spanish you are SOL. As soon as they heard English you got no service/help/assistance of any kind. A lot of shoulder shrugging. The entire group felt this way. We met a Spanish person who sat with us for a meal and the service we got with her with us totally changed! The front office staff are not consistent with what they tell you and they make it seem like it is language barrier but they spoke it perfectly when we checked in. One of our group won a bottle of rum at a bingo game and were told to claim it at the Bavero lobby between 8-10 at night. When we claimed it, nobody seemed to understand or know what we were talking about. Then, very odd behaviour after dealing with the person in charge who did know (left the area, came back, went to a room, in and out of that room etc) and then suddenly a different lady shows up and hands us a t-shirt while holding a bottle of rum and said we only won a t-shirt. Funny thing she could speak English then and tell us the rum winning was for "older" games. We tried to say that wasn't right but she wouldn't budge. We all suspected she walked away with the bottle while handing us a worker shirt as our prize! The biggest disturbing behaviour was that of the younger males working on the resort. The two t

This is a very nice resort. We were greeted at the hotel just after midnight by a nice young man. He gave us our bracelets and directed us to our room. We got a room with the swim up pool, so worth it. Nice lounge chairs outside and drinks brought around for you. The restaurants were all nice. The steak place was our favorite for food and service. The service at the sushi restaurant was the worst but the food was good. It seemed they did not have enough employees working the sushi side and the waiters were concerned if you ordered too much food in their opinion and would not let you order more. Very embarrassing. Now for the rooms. Our butler, Luis, was great. He made all our steakhouse reservations without fail. The maids do need some training though. They frequently did not re stock the wash clothes and never stock beach towels even though we had a swim up pool. Our butler had to handle being us all that we needed. The spa is a hard 3 stars. The employees did not refill water jug all the time nor did they make sure there were towels to use. We went one time and the spa was cold. Employee just sitting at front desk. No patrons but still they can't check the towel supplies or jacuzzi heat. Not impressed. Other great things about this resort is nice pools and entertainment. Daily pool exercises, dance classes, and other fun activities. We were in the corn hole game, very fun. Now the bad. The smokers have ruined this place. The restaurants have no doors or windows because there is a prevailing breeze. They put the smoking area right outside the restaurant and all that stinky smoke goes right inside and ruins your meal. It's like this everywhere. People smoke everywhere so you can't get fresh air anywhere. The lobby is filled with smoke too. They should give smokers a designated area to smoke that doesn't affect non smokers. Also people smoke on their patio and it blowseems right in your face. This was an adults only resort but now we need non smoking. Worst ever. People also hoard the lounge chairs by the pool all day! Towels run out 5 minutes after they are put out. Sucks.

We had a very nice stay in the hotel. Positive: Beautiful big suite, the staff, specially the second in command, the dep. general manager Amilcar gave us the red carpet treatment!! He did everything possible, to make our stay a great one! I also would like to mention the friendliness and the professional service of the following staff: Junior, Magnarestaurant Ines, Pool Gustavo, Chez Isabel restaurant Marcos, Club Manager Amlcar, deputy General Manager Orlando, cook the kitchen Ledelkis, waitress the kitchen Jose miquel, magna restaurant Yoel, magna and lobster house Jhourdan, Magna Club Mitherlina, house keeping Ariel, room Service Eliezer, magna and chez isabelle Please give them a big muchas gracias Unfortunately during the period we were in Punta Cana, Corona started to spread around the world, we mentioned to the general manager that she should inform the staff not to shake hands with the guest, which is very friendly custom of the people of Dom Rep, but in times of Corona absolutely intolerable. Unfortunately it was apparently not advised to the staff as it did not change. We also asked for disinfection fluid for the public areas, restaurants etc, nothing really changed.

My wife wanted to take me away for my birthday. I suggested a return trip to Esmerelda. Check in took awhile but I knew where the closest bar was, so no big deal. Kelvin set us up very nicely. Naomi Taveras & Alexandria poolside servers, Rosemary greeting us at the buffet all smiles. Jhon Torres is my new fav. bartender. Suggested a few excellent rums that I haven't tried before Early evening entertainment was geared more toward kids which many were on school break but was more adult oriented after that Ate at 6 themed restaurants which were all great. Only thing that wasn't great was that our room was very warm at night The thermostat would not go below 22 or 23C Our fav all inclusive we've been to and will return

We made our second visit to this hotel in March 2020, and it did not disappoint. It was renovated about 18 months ago, and we were pleased with the updates. We paid for the Superior Junior suite, and as returning guests, we were given a prime location overlooking the center courtyard, equidistant from the beach and the hotel lobby. The following day when we returned to the room, it had been decorated with balloons and towel art, and a welcome package from the manager was left for us. We have also stayed at the Riu Palace Bavaro in the same complex, and the Republica further west, but this hotel is our favourite. The room was clean and well equipped to start, and housekeeping kept it that way. Our maid kept our room clean and tidy, surprised us with a new piece of towel art every day. Towels were changed twice a day, the mini bar was replenished every day. Riu Palace Punta Cana has a wide variety of dining options, including buffets for every meal, snacks available in between, and 5 themed restaurants. Krystal was our favourite, although the dinner buffet was a close second. The buffet offered beef tenderloin one night, roast turkey, pork tenderloin, roast lamb were features other nights. There was always a nice assortment of seafood from various types of fish, shrimp, oysters, clams, paella and more. For the less adventurous, there was always hamburgers, hotdogs, and fries. You’ll never go hungry here. We enjoyed the Lobby bar in the evenings for games of cards and dominoes, along with cappuccino or nightcaps. But the hotels best feature is its people. From a smooth check-in with Nathan, the housekeeping staff, the waiters at all the restaurants and bars, the barmen, and everyone else we met, we were received with smiles and treated as friends. The hotel’s 3 pools compliment the beach, and are a pleasant change on a breezy day. But the beach is prime. It is one of the best in the islands and the beach at the Riu has lots of loungers and lots of space for all - whether you want ocean side sun like us, or a shady spot under a palm. And you don’t have to be there before sunrise to get one. You can walk for miles - and we did - and you never reach the end of the sandy beach. We will be back.

We have been to other RIU hotels in Punta Cana numerous times. This year we decided to give a RIU Republica a try. The resort is large and gives a feeling of two resorts joined in one. The newer part is farther away from the beach but not a problem. Maximum 5-10 minute walk from the farthest part, and there is a golf cart taking people to the beach if they don't feel like walking. Overall we enjoyed our vacation. There was always enough space in the restaurants and on the beach, no towel shortage. All the staff was courteous helpful and smiling. The food in the main buffet restaurant was excellent and had a lot of choices. We did not go to any of the specialty restaurants even that there was not a problem to get in, and without reservations. Most were buffet anyway. There was also a jerk chicken shack for lunches at the entrance to the beach with very good food. The entertainment during the day was just OK. Evenings were good and bad depending on the night. It was hard to find out what is on, and there were two theatres to choose from. After few days, we discovered the there is a program inside the elevator but we walked up and down the stairs. Not a good place to post it. The best part of this resort is the variety of everything, and many choices how to spend your day. Three pools (2 with swim up bars) in older section and another three in the newer ones. All with different atmosphere: rowdy, quiet, Latin etc. For each its own. Latin pool was our favorite. There were also huge waterslides in the newer section. Trips to other RIU resorts were offered twice a week to join pool parties there, and some people enjoyed this. We have seen it in the past so we did not go. The average age of guests was younger than in other resorts. But there were also people in their 60s and 70s also enjoying themselves including "body sliding" on the swim up bar counter! The theatre has very good sound system, but the stage is far back and has a low ceiling. The layout is poorly designed so theatre becomes crowded quite fast. The second theatre is much smaller and only good for some live music performances. The beach is great as everywhere on this 20 km strip. However the beach was crowded over with palapas so a bit squashy. Seems the resort planted some palm trees there so in future it can open up and still provide shade, but this may take another 10 years to happen. The waves were very strong and there was some undercurrent - not for weak swimmers. The beach was actually the weakest point of the resort due to its separation by dunes and crowdedness. We will definitely return to this resort if the price is "right".

we had reserved a resort stay with their Macao. when our driver pulled up at the resort a lady met us and said because a slowdown due to the corona virus the resort was shut down, this was very disappointing since we had celebrated our 40th anniversary there and were now celebrating our 51st. we were rerouted to the Riu palace Bavaro. the desk clerk was very unsympathetic to our story. our travel agent said she would contact the Macao and they would make it a special occasion. I asked about a room upgrade explains we were to be treated to perks. the desk clerk said he knew nothing about that and we would have to contact reservations. the room they gave us has to been the worst room the had. it was over the main lobby. when you looked out our front door we were looking at nothing but roof. not even over the roof but on top of it. when you went out the patio doors the same thing. the smell of sewage was very strong. I went back to the lobby and threw a fit. a manager. came out and was very apologetic and had us put in one of their rooms that was in there vip area. we had a beautiful large private pool . the room was big and had a jacuzzi in it and we had a large hot tube on the deck. the room was over looking the beach and palm trees. it was truly one of their best room. maybe I'm expecting too much but there was no anniversary fruit and wine and no towel art like we expected. some of the restaurants were closed but the open ones had really huge variety, it was all presented beautifully everything was proper temperature and tasted great. the dessert tables looked like pictures In gourmet magazine. all the pool activities were canceled, we saw one show, the rest were cancelled, and that was the Michel Jackson show and it was wonderful.there was no shopping because all the shops were closed but a small sundries store. we we suppose to be there for 7 days but after two days we received an evening call that we had to be packed and reddy to leave at 10:am the next day. we were told all Americans were being ordered home by our government, the resort was to close the next day (Sunday). in the meantime Americans from other resorts were brought to the Bavaro. some were to stay the night until their planes came to get them. we we told our government was sending us empty planes to pick us up. I really wanted to stay but they said there would be no more planes and the resort was closing the next day and we would would have to leave and fend for ourselves.

I come to the DR for work every couple of months and have stayed in a wide variety or resorts in/around Punta Cana. The staff was very friendly but I wouldn’t say that this resort is any better than most in the area. Expect music playing until late so a Great place if you want to go out and dance until 1:30a on most nights but I’d imagine it could be a little much for some folks who want a peaceful vacay. I brought my wife with me on this trip and we both enjoyed it.
