Initially, I was torn between choosing between Kai Beppu and Harumi, and I'm so glad I ultimately went with Harumi. From the service to the facilities, this onsen (hot spring) ranks as one of the best I've visited in Japan, alongside Izu, Arima, and Karuizawa. Enjoying a hot soak with family, then relaxing on the balcony listening to the ocean waves while sipping a drink—it was such a perfect evening. The service was excellent, and the breakfast was outstanding, featuring many local specialties. I'll definitely be back!

After reading other reviews, they were all overwhelmingly positive. Having stayed in numerous hotels, the ANA InterContinental Beppu definitely ranks in my top three. First, let's talk about transportation: Beppu Station is quite small. Remember to exit from the West Exit (this was told to us by the hotel shuttle driver; apparently, many international guests wait for a long time at the East Exit only to find out it's the West Exit). The hotel is about a twenty-minute drive away. Next, the service: What was really surprising is that more than half of the hotel staff are non-Japanese. Every single foreign staff member spoke excellent Japanese, with perfect mastery of honorifics. Finally, the room facilities: The onsen (hot spring bath) is small but beautiful. The infinity pool isn't very deep, making it suitable for children. It was still a bit chilly in March, but luckily, there's a warm pool nearby where you can soak for a while. The restaurant offers great value for money. Children aged 6-12 get half price, which is around 2,700 yen. In the evening, there's an all-you-can-drink option for adults at 5,000 yen, including sparkling wine, house wine, shochu, and beer.

This trip exceeded my expectations and was very satisfying. The room was incredibly spacious and clean, with large floor-to-ceiling windows offering beautiful natural views. The private hot spring in the room was also a major highlight. Even though it was pouring rain, the staff were all incredibly polite and welcoming. Dinner was abundant and delicious. For breakfast, you have to go to a sister hotel in the same group next door, but the selection was excellent. The only thing to note is that it might be a bit inconvenient if you don't have a car, but you can take bus route 50 directly from Beppu Station.

The hotel provides pick-up and drop-off service to Beppu Station, which must be reserved 2 days in advance. Don't follow what he wrote above to Beppu University, otherwise it will waste an hour in order to take a stop. The hotel is in the middle of Beppu University Station and Beppu Station. 3 kilometers from various hell attractions,1.6 kilometers from Hulu Hot Spring. It is all walking. Country city walk still has a different tranquility. The highlight of the hotel is eating, dinner and breakfast, very exquisite and delicious, and the food is worth the fare.

They offer a selection of yukata for guests, and the styles are really beautiful – highly recommend taking photos in them. The hotel is located on a mountain, so I'd suggest taking a taxi. The room views are absolutely stunning, and there's a small private onsen tub, though it might be a bit snug for three people. The beds are traditional tatami, which are very comfortable to sleep on. Breakfast is incredibly generous and features traditional Japanese fare.

I was a bit nervous after booking this hotel, but it turned out to be an excellent choice! The hotel is a traditional Japanese courtyard building with six rooms. It's about a 15-minute taxi ride from Beppu JR station. From the moment we entered the courtyard, we received a very warm welcome. Since we booked a room on the second floor, the staff kindly carried all our luggage to our room during check-in. You absolutely must try the dinner and breakfast included in the stay – it's incredibly good value for money! The food for both dinner and breakfast was absolutely delicious! Dinner was especially generous; we couldn't even finish it all. Plus, the wagyu beef served at dinner came with a special certificate, which was a fun touch 🤔 We arrived at the hotel at 3 PM and went straight to the hot springs after checking in. There are three private onsen: two outdoor and one indoor. I personally preferred the two outdoor ones; their design and layout are pretty similar, so either one is a great choice. You can also adjust the water temperature yourself, allowing you to soak for longer. Female guests can choose their favorite yukata at the front desk; the patterns are all beautiful and perfect for photos. The hotel's service was the best I experienced on this entire trip. The staff member who served us dinner and prepared our futons in the evening had a hearing impairment, yet they provided the most satisfying service my family and I received on this trip. Knowing I had to catch a train the next day, they proactively informed me that taxis in Beppu were currently in high demand and helped me pre-book one. I highly recommend this place for its private onsen, delicious food, and excellent service.

Tielun is the hot spring hotel with the most thoughtful and meticulous service on this trip👍 The front desk lady, the manager and the training guy are all very friendly, and the service can be described as home away from home. It is a foreign guest-friendly hotel. The facilities in the hotel room are very clean and sanitary, and everything is available. The accommodation at night is very comfortable. Especially the hot springs, which are a major advantage of Tielun. There are hot springs on the first floor and the top floor. The facilities in the hot springs are also unexpectedly complete. The hot springs on the top floor can overlook the coastline of Beppu and the city of Beppu. The Hell Hot Springs attraction, Umijigoku, is a five-minute walk from the hotel, and there are two bus stops next to the hotel. My friends and I both think it is great value for money.

The Japanese-style room is very stylish, the private bath room is great, the room is heated, the breakfast is super delicious, and the staff is very friendly and kind. The overall stay is first-class and cost-effective.

The stay was decent overall, but there is definitely room for improvement. While the general experience was okay, the room cleanliness wasn't up to par—specifically, there was an unpleasant odor coming from the cups and the bathroom. Additionally, the door leading from the balcony to the hot spring room couldn't be securely locked, which was a bit concerning. With better housekeeping and maintenance, this would be a much better place to stay.
