Great local pub, friendly efficient staff, smashing cask ales and food. Definitely go back again. Beers were from Wye Valley Brewery (Butty etc) plus usual keg lager and local ciders. Extensive menu and list of specials. Probably worth booking at the weekends.

Visited following a recommendation in our holiday home. And a great recommendation it turned out to be. The team in the pub were lovely and gave us all a warm welcome. They were very attentive throughout our visit The Wye Valley beer was in good order. Almost too good as I could have had a few more. I was only really stopped from doing this by dinner. Not only was it really very tasty (whitebait/lamb shoulder with mash and seasonal veg and apple and blackcurrant crumble) but the portion sizes where incredible. Very generous indeed. So much so that I couldn't eat breakfast the next day! Also, some incredible local artwork on display/for sale and I a pleased to say I picked up a couple of pictures too.

Beds comfortable plenty of tea and coffee making facilities. Toilet worked off a Saniflow system so a little noise when in use. Plenty of hot water. Food good in the restraunt and breakfast served by the lovely landlady where nothing was too much trouble.

Popped in for a lunchtime drink and enquire for a Sunday lunch, a proper village pub and I frequent plenty!, never knowingly been into a Corporate establishment, why would you? Made welcome & the dogs, both log fires blazing, spotlessly clean, well decorated for Christmas. Lunch booked and looking forward to it. Well done to the Staff and the Community.

Given the recent history of this rural pub, we were very keen to support the venture whilst on holiday in the area. I can only speak as I find and, for me, it wasn’t worth the detour I’m afraid. The building itself is nice enough and what you’d expect of a country inn. But whilst it had been a pleasant day weather wise, seated in the lounge area, it was cold inside in the evening. I borrowed my husband’s jumper and noticed other diners kept their coats on. We arrived at 7.30pm and a waitress promptly gave us the specials board. It was 8pm before she returned and took our drinks and food order. It was another 30 minutes before the food arrived. We both had burgers which sadly were neither here nor there. The chips were lovely mind, what there was of them. Maybe we just caught them on a bad night. The main restaurant seemed pretty busy so perhaps they just forgot about the rest of us.

Excellent Inn in a beautiful location. Staff, friendly and helpful. Service brilliant. Vegan friendly. We had one night here but will hopefully be back as we would like to explore the beautiful countryside. Well worth a visit.

We visited this pub on a Friday evening. There was an excellent selection of real ales and we were met with a very warm welcome. We sat and ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious and very tasty. Despite the fact it was busy the service was efficient and the waiting staff very friendly. Probably adviseable to book if you want to eat. I cannot recommend this pub highly enough.

Stayed here for one night as I was visiting the Hay festival. Hay is about 30 minutes drive from here but the hotels closer to Hay were all fully booked or exhorbitant prices. This one was very reasonably priced. Although check in is advertised from 6 pm when the pub opens I was actually able to collect my key earlier as I had events planned for the late afternoon in Hay. My room was a nice double with an ensuite shower room. The bed was quite comfortable with fresh, newish linen and the room temperature was fine. There was a decent flat screen TV on the wall over the dressing table. There was tea and coffee provided and some biscuits - always a nice touch. The shower was an electric shower but worked fine - strong pressure and plenty warm enough. I did not eat in the pub in the evening, but had breakfast. A full Welsh breakfast was on offer but I just opted for cereal and toast. The breakfast did look nice though. The pub was still open when I arrived back quite late on Friday night but the noise from the bar did not really carry into my room above. All in all a nice stay in a pretty Welsh village
