If you love the experience of a European hostel with the comforts and convenience of an American lodging, this is the place to go. For starters, Space: the common room which I assume used to be a ballroom is very spacious and serves as dining as well.(btw, don’t miss the complimentary breakfast they offer in the morning.) the ample seating serves as a great atmosphere for meeting other people. While other people complain about how dated the decor is, I think it adds to the homeliness and novelty of it. Plenty of solo use bathrooms on each floor. And the beds are quite spacious. Location:it’s situated right next to Chinatown which is great for when you’re craving a quick Dimsum. It’s also a nice 15 minute walk to the piers. I would absolutely suggest using the trams to get to the west side of of San Francisco ie the bridge or presidio, but I’m a walker so it took me a good 1.5 hours which was a good workout. Staff: they were very friendly and informative as well as helpful so absolutely no complaints there. Security: I believe the doors stay locked after 1800 which require code or fob access. They make you wear a tag to identify you as a lodger which is added security. All in all a great experience, I would definitely come back here for my San Francisco trips.it’s by far one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in.

The Europa is a lovely hotel, its a little tired in parts but rooms are clean and comfortable. Its located on the edge of China Town and the financial district. We felt very safe coming back for a great day of sightseeing. It an ideal location if your running in the San Francisco Marathon as it 7 minutes walk from the start line. Our room was clean and comfortable with a fridge and a microwave in the room, we had a double room with a shared bathroom, One of the toilets had a leak so we used the other one, not an issue. There are some rooms with private bathroom but we opted for a shared bathroom and toilet The Housekeeping ladies were amazing, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Reception all friendly and gave great advice on where to go what to see, the best places to eat and value for money. We had a fridge and microwave in our room and a fridge. The only down side, the window didn't open. We had to change our booking due to covid 2021 to 2022, they obliged at no extra cost. Kept the price the same. For the price it a great hotel as the location was brilliant. If we visited SF again then we would definitely stay there again. I'm not sure if the reception is manned during the night, we didn't see anyone but they could have been in a room at the back of the reception.

This is a special place, no doubt. Every room is individually decorated and provides some retro Mafia/ Italian style interior. Even the group bathrooms are really with such level of detail, especially with it‘s historic armatures. Extroadinary and droll antiques are displayed on all floor levels which makes this place very cosy with a shabby attitude. So what‘s the „cons“? I am generally a friend of shabby, but if shabby becomes tacky than this could become problematic. Some examples. Dust was spread all over the room including lamps, wardrobe, etc. Which led to the impression that my room has not seen professional cleaning for a while. The room was fitted with a carpet which best days were over since a couple of decades. The carpet in my room showed a number of stains, which were ideally referring to some good red wine, but I felt uncomfortable walking in the room without shoes on. Finally the bed linen also showed some stains and I detected black hair on the pillow. So the overall summary is that the stay could have been much cosier and comfortable due to the unique in- and exterior of charming San Remo, but tidiness is key! Another positive aspect to mention is the fantastic location as Fishermans Wharf, Lombard Street and Golden Gate Park can all be reached easily in a couple of minutes by foot. So I really don't know if I liked this place or not, also given the fact that San Remo is not a bargain... Make your own views...

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Zephyr! The location was fantastic, just a block off the main thoroughfare along Fisherman's Wharf so there was easy access to everything...food, shopping, key tourist sites, and transportation. Its walking distance to Pier 39, Pier 33 (where the Alcatraz Ferry departs), and Ghirardelli Square. Its also convenient to several cable car routes and if you're taking any Big Bus Tours, its only a block away from their Fisherman's Wharf departure point. In addition to a great location, we were also very pleased with the hotel itself. Staff was friendly and accommodating, our room was spacious and comfortable and most importantly, it was clean! Another added bonus, the private, outdoor entertainment space. What a fun spot to hang out in the evening with games to play, comfy chairs, firepits & s'mores! I would highly recommend this hotel to others, especially anyone traveling with tweens/teens.

This was the cheapest non hostel, private room hotel I could find in San Francisco. It's much better than other reviews suggest. I was pleasantly surprised. Room quite modern looking (better than the photos, off white wooden flooring) Clean. No bad smell at all. I stayed in a single room that was small, but I've stayed in smaller in Times Square NYC before so no big deal. Single bed was on the big side for a single. Very comfy. I slept so good. Cleaners never came but I was only there 2 nights. The shared bathroom was in good condition. I didn't see one other guest in my 2 nights there. Just some food delivery people dropping to reception. The local area isn't bad. I only see a couple of dodgy people outside. It's in Chinatown which isn't a bad area. Reception has CCTV and a night security guard. Honestly, if you are a solo traveller here you'll feel safe. Little donut/cafe/coffee shop next door to get breakfast. 20 minute walk to Pier 33 (Alcatraz), 1.5 hour walk to Golden Gate Bridge (or $17 Uber). I'm happy I found this place, I need my own privacy when travelling and this was perfect. I'd recommend for solo travellers for sure. Oh and dead silent of a night. I'm writing this from a motel in Monterey and the noise here made me appreciate just how quiet Hotel North Beach was. Just don't expect luxury but honestly, it's not a dump. It's a clean room of your own, safe and quiet. I've given it a 4 not a 5 because it's not perfect but certainly adequate.

Reserved here for 10 days July 26 2022. We thought the place might be OK at ~$200/night. There were remarkable problems. 1) ”Free” parking meant, ”don't use your car or you may come back to a full lot”. 2) There were NO drawers. I am serious. nothing under the TV, no side tables, and nothing in the closet. I have never stayed in a place with no drawers! 3) Did I say no side tables? There were little wooden ”flappers” nailed into the bedstead on each side maybe to place a drink. And one of them was cracked so we had to use a suitcase as a night stand. 4) Three hangers in the closet, and the closet door alternated as a bathroom door depending on your needs. So this place is right on the wharf, location-location, but it sucks. We managed to get out of our reserves for only one extra night penalty and move several blocks away to a Travelodge (Lombard St) which was the same price with none of these problems. Please stay away from the Wharf Inn and enjoy your stay.

Lots of little touches that make this hotel stand out from the rest. The location is excellent, 5 minute walk to the metro station, shopping centre, restaurants and ferry terminal. Free self serve laundry, which was perfect for us as we were in the middle of a big trip. Vending machine downstairs which was very reasonably priced. Free coffee in the lounge area. Staff were very helpful too and more than happy to answer any questions and give recommendations. My only slight gripe would be that the rooms were a bit small, but I’d have no hesitation in booking this hotel again in the future.

Hotel location is good, not far from the subway station, cable car station, Union Square, but there are a lot of black people nearby, rude behavior, giving people a sense of insecurity, travel must be careful. The room has a microwave and refrigerator for your convenience. But the entire building and the room were very poorly ventilated and stinking. The service is very poor. If you don't pay attention, the service staff will yell, the deposit fee is too high, and a baggage fee is 30 yuan. The impression is too bad. You will not visit this hotel again.

Amazing value central hotel, clean and well appointed. We stayed here for 3 nights over the Spring Break weekend. The hotel is a motel style with your own door. We found space in the car park easily. The amenities are good. The beds comfortable. The room was super clean. Housekeeping came every day to replenish towels etc. The location is great. 10 mins walk to Fort Mason and 15 20 mins to Fishermans Wharf. The location felt safe. It's also on the Big Bus tour route, which was handy for us and I would recommend. There is no breakfast here despite the TripAdvisor photo! It didnt matter to us there are lots if fantastic places to eat in SF. We will definitely stay again.

This hotel is under new management so we couldn't see many reviews before booking but it was a great experience! the self check-in was a breeze (we received all the info in an email) and our room was nice and clean. The room is cozy but normal size for SF and if we needed a little more space we just went down to the lobby lounge area. There was wifi in the room and in the lobby area. The kitchen was super convenient to make a quick breakfast. We didn't use the washer/dryers but if we stayed longer we probably would have. We could walk to Union Square and there is also a Trader Joe's a couple blocks away. It was a perfect place to stay for a couple of nights!

We came into the city for a Giants versus Dodgers game at Oracle Park. This funky little hotel was within a long walk’s distance, just over a mile, and had parking $20 cheaper than the stadium! Our room was clean but we had to ask for a second bath towel and there was no decaf coffee available in room, but we could get some for breakfast downstairs. We appreciated the carport which was dated overnight and the staff was super friendly. We would stay there again for a quick visit.

My parents and I enjoyed our stay at HUS. The staff were enthusiastic and helpful. They have an option where they can send you text messages to check up on you. The room was clean and organized. I would agree with other reviews that there was a slight smell to the room, probably because the building is so old. Nonetheless, the hotel was a good value for the money and the location was great! We bought the parking package online that included valet parking, which helped save us 50% of the parking costs. When parking, there are a few curbside spaces right in front of the hotel off of Powell St. We didn't know if we could drive onto Powell St., since the public transit rail goes right through the street, but yes, we are allowed to drive onto that street. Also, the hotel stay required us a $100 deposit that gets refunded when we finish our stay without causing damage.

It is not very good. I thought that San Francisco lived comfortably. I used to have a good impression of the Marriott brand. But this Marriott hotel is too old. When I booked it, I can live for 4 people. As a result, 2 people feel that the room is too small compared to Shanghai. The Marriott is too far away, and the price is high. In short, after booking a hotel, the old hotel is not good.

The location is perfect, easy to access all the famous spots in SF. Overall service was also nice. However, the facilities in the bathroom need to replace with new ones, or, at least, it needs to be fixed. 1. the drain in the sink was clogged, so water went down slowly. 2. I hoped to take a rest from the fatigue of my long journey with a lower-body bath, but it was almost impossible since the tub cap looks like broken, and the water in the tub kept leaking. It was a somewhat disappointing experience considering the hotel is regarded as the best one in SF.

There was no breakfast served, as there were renovations going on but we found a great cafe nearby which served a great breakfast. We also found a lovely seafood restaurant for our dinner. Lovely hotel, in a great location, good access for the city, comfortable with great communal spaces. The staff are all really friendly and helpful, 2 people of note to mention The guy behind the bar is brilliant, knowledgable, friendly and funny, a real pleasure. There is a (really) young lady on reception/check-in, she is lovely and I don't want to knock her, but she needs more training, her default is to say no to everything, not because she is being difficult, I just don't think she has the knowledge or authority to find solutions. It makes it frustrating for me as the customer and I'm sure, for her, trying to deal with people and not resolving issues. It makes you avoid her and wait for someone else to deal with. The Concierge and Valet Parking staff were brilliant, took away all the thinking on parking and restaurants etc. We would definitely stay here again if in San Fransisco

My room and furnishings were acceptable for my four day business stay. The room door has large gaps around it, though. This permits all hallway noise to be heard in the room. Worse, it allows all the ********* smoke into the room. My coworker was two floors up from me and complainedbabout the same issue I had trouble sleeping because the ********* smoke was so thick in my room. I stuck a towel under the room door, where the biggest gap was, but I had nothing to block the gaps on the top or the sides of the door. Without the ********* smoke issue and some noise issues, I would recommend Hotel Icon to male travelers.

If you are adventurous, you can actually walk to the Downtown. I had to check in early as my flight landed a bit advance. They allowed me to early check in at a nominal fee which is totally acceptable. Also the cityscape view from hotel is amazing! I felt the place is safer, all amenities provided (ironing bed, hangers, refrigerator, iron box, coffee and tea bags… so on). I would certainly stay here again and highly recommend checking this out. It was clean, the bathroom was updated and spacious. A small desk and chair. The breakfast had the basics except no waffles. San Fransisco is expensive, this room was not, so you get what you pay for. It worked well for us since we were gone from morning till night. The neighborhood is typical downtown. I don’t know how, but people who work on the front desk either don’t communicate between each other or don’t speak good english. I accidentaly left a jacket in the hotel and noticed it the day after checking out. I immediately contacted the hotel and when they told me they found it, I arranged the postal service to pick it up and send it to me (even though I still don’t understand why I had to arrange everything instead of the hotel sending it to me). I had some trouble with the postal service so I figured out it would be easier if my friend that just arrived to SF picked it up for me. So they called the hotel, quite a few times. Every time the front desk would give a different response (first, that they have the jacket, then that they don’t, then that they DON’T KNOW if they have it….) and then the last: we have it, you can come pick it up. My friend came the next day and got yelled at, that they don’t have the jacket and how SHE DARES COMMING a month after I checked out. I have to mention that I tried e-mailing the hotel a few times, but it seems that they don’t check the only e-mail adress they have. Since it seems that I have to give up my brand new jacket (I live in Europe and I don’t know if I will ever be back there), this is the only thing I could’ve done. The hotel itself is okay, rooms and beds are just fine.

I used to be a frequent guest at the W SF back when it was Starwood but had not visited since Marriott took over the W Brand. I did try and stay last year but before arriving I read that the restaurant was closed and I asked the hotel what they were doing as an alternative, but they had absolutely nothing for Platinum Breakfast (other than 1k points per stay which is a HUGE downgrade), so I opted for another hotel. I had high expectations for this stay as I had previously loved this hotel, but as a frequent traveler in Marriott brands and having one of their Highest Elite traveler statuses (and staying at W Brands lately), I knew service levels were still suffering post pandemic. Unfortunately, it started low right from the beginning. I had confirmed a Studio Suite in advance. When I arrived, I was given a corner room that almost seemed smaller than standard rooms (Room 2109). I inquired about upgrades to larger rooms, and I was told no, because it was a busy weekend, and nothing would be available. I checked on the app and saw that every room type was available for the length of my stay and beyond. I was basically DOWNGRADED. Once settling into the room, then I realized the major issues. Smaller rooms should be easier to clean, right? Well, this one not only had carpet stains, but I quickly found out that the ”Marriott Commitment to Clean” was actually a Commitment to Ignore. Not only were their stains on the carpet and dust and dirt in the windowsills, I found a previous guest's room keys sitting on the counter. Obviously, the room was just ”re-set” and not inspected or cleaned at all. I guess the promised sanitizing was out of the question. We then went to get some ice and noticed that the ice bucket was half filled with standing water. It was disgusting! Thats not the worst part, I then found a pair of women's ”play-style” lingerie slightly soiled sitting on the floor by the sofa. I mentioned the cleanliness issues to the Front Desk, but the representative simply stared at me and then asked if there was anything else I needed? I should have been a bit more insistent that they take it down, but I was so shocked I did not. The room setup, although smaller than what I wanted and pre-confirmed, was also not great. There is no storage at all other than the closet. There are no drawers at all or other places to keep clothes or anything else. If you have two suitcases, you are going to have to keep them out as there is no place to put them in the closet. Other than the Front Desk and Room Condition, we had a nice stay, although the Room is really what we paid for. The rest of the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. The breakfast staff were great, and the food was amazing! Kudos for them for sure! Actually, the only place I was every recognized or thanked for being a Marriott Elite was from the hostess at Breakfast. Location of the hotel is good. As told, left side of the hotel is more safe than the right side as there are not many homeless people on the left side. The hotel provides daily cleaning and refills bath amenities automatically. The air conditioning is quite cool but can be adjusted, nevertheless, the blanket is not thick enough which slightly affected sleeping quality.

Excellent value for a great location. Room was clean and very spacious. Front desk were accommodating and helpful with a quick check-in and check-out. Breakfast had a good selection of different options and had no complaints. Overall would happily rebook and stay here again!
