Wonderful stay. A little disappointed about the view from the room but other than this, we appreciated the little touch of the mint on our pillow at night and the great breakfast. It’s a super convenient spot and would choose to stay again.

The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly .Breakfast was fresh and had a little bit of everything .Unfortunately for my partner and I ,we booked the hotel because of it’s amenities ,upon out arrival we got the news that the hotel is doing some refurbishments therefore we couldn’t use the amenities we booked the hotel for .I suggested that we at-least get upgraded as we are unhappy,but nothing of that sort happened .So I was very unhappy that the hotel couldn’t at-least meet us half way.They just said the site I booked at need to take full responsibility for not notifying me of the refurbishment.

We stayed for one night and could not fault the hotel. We had a mountain room view, which was very comfortable and well maintained. It is a stylish hotel with lovely public spaces. It is large by Clarens standards, and right in the centre of town. Staff were friendly, and the food (dinner and breakfast) was very good. We’d happily stay there again.

We picked Protea Clarens for a short stay for one night as we were travelling from Drakensberg over to Bloemfontein. The receptionist was nice, the room - fresh and spacious, we had everything we needed. The view from the balcony was amazing. On top of the fact that there was a guarded parking, we were able to walk everywhere in Clarens, which was super convenient. Can't comment on breakfast as we didn't have one.

This is a gorgeous hotel with a bespoke upmarket feel. The hotel is situated in the heart of the beautiful village of Clarens. We had a mountain facing balcony room, which was an absolute delight. Stunning views of the Maluti /Drakensberg mountain range. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Good hotel. The staff were friendly and it is nice and central in town for shops, bars and restaurants, easy parking, breakfast OK though not outstanding. Everything was clean and beds were comfortable. All good, we would stay again if in the area

My wife and I were very happy with our stay in Clarence the hotel is within two minutes walk of the town centre the staff were very friendly, good vegetarian options for breakfast and good quality Wi-Fi- all at a very good price. They also have very secure car parking.

Beautiful Hotel! Well situated, lovely and comfortable rooms, amazing breakfast and the staff were very friendly, professional and helpful. We also had a beautiful view from our room. Safe and secure parking.

It was lovely to stay in Clarens and at the Protea Hotel but there are wayyyyyy better options available. The buffet breakfast was very good. But the rooms were small and there wasn’t much in the room itself. I would have wayyyy rather used that money somewhere else.

R3000 per night for a room with the shower right next to the bed is insane. The pictures are intentionally deceptive since you have to swipe past 17 pictures before the show one with the shower. Lesson learned!

They didn’t have common SA known teas and served some cheap foreign black tea 😩 Their breakfast chefs seemed inexperienced and under trained. Overall excellent location for the hotel. They could also do with newer towels.

Our welcome was perfect, and giving us a choice of room, assisting with the app, always greeting us with a smile! When my husband lost his driver's license, the staff was there to help us! A place to return to.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Protea Hotel Clarence. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a very nice room, crisp and clean with the most beautiful views of the mountains. We enjoyed a super nice breakfast and a cozy dinner at this beautifully renovated hotel.

We stayed during the renovation. Unfortunately on check in we were given a room right above the construction area. The elevator was not working. Fortunately when we went down to get our bags Kananelo was on the front desk. Such a happy welcoming man with a great smile. He helped us get our bags and offered to bring them to our room via the service elevator. When he heard our room number he immediately offered to relocate us for which we were most grateful. He is a great asset to your front desk area. Breakfast as always was in abundance. There was a cold and a hot area offered every day along with a chef making omelettes etc. Caldin interacted very pleasantly and even enquired how our hike had been the previous day. A nice “family style” hotel. The staff for the most part are really friendly and very helpful.
