They pass off Prosecco as champagne. Capalletti a miserly offering. Steak ordered medium rare, served well done, canned mushrooms. Soggy petite four. Such a disappointment. Used to be nice place to eat with good food, shame to see the decline.

What a beautiful establishment, both for just having a meal and for staying over. We had an amazing time, the two young male members of staff who checked us in and served in the restaurant and at breakfast were especially friendly and made us feel very welcome. We chose a compact room, but it doesn’t disappoint, well decorated, finished to a great standard and just what you need for a stop over. Excellent food and wonderful hotel, well worth a visit, my only ****** was the coffee bags, but that’s all down to personal preference

I recently attended the Green Man for my nieces christening. Really nice venue with a private function room and really friendly staff. A special mention to Gemma who went to extra mile to ensure that everyone had a great day Thank you to all involved

Lovely place. Nice and warm. Clean. Cosy. Great internet. Lovely village. Friendly staff. Didn’t have tea in the pub but it looked really cosy. Breakfast was nice. Would definitely stay again. Got to write some more to fill out the word count.

No curtains in room just dusty damaged venetian blinds which failed to dim passing traffic headlights caused a fitful sleep. Large chip out of wash basin. Very small shower room but excellent shower. Evening meal consisted of really tasty, beautifully cooked beef with nice vegetables, however roast potatoes were disappointing - quite hard, not crisp on outside and not fluffy inside. Service from moment we arrived until we left was exemplary. Overall really excellent value for money. Would go again if in the area.

Attended 70/80/90s party night with friends. Ticket price was £20 pp. the bar in the party room was not open meaning you had to carry drinks through from the main bar via the restaurant - with many people at the party night this was poor. Service seemed to be from only one member of staff so drinks service was very slow. When the food came many items ran out before many people in the queue had even got to the front so all that was left was half cheap sausage rolls and a few chips. I’ve never before paid so much money for such a basic and poor meal. Even when the full buffet first came out it was just the same with the addition of a few sandwiches and quiche. The singer was advertised to perform until 10:30 but stopped at 10 just as we were starting to forget how ripped off we’d been and how poor the service was. When the “party” abruptly ended early the only choice was to go through to the main bar at 10pm where they had let the fire go out so it was cold, miserable and with poor service and expensive drinks prices on top made for a rubbish end to a disappointing night.

Regrettably, not one of our most successful anniversary evenings out. The hotel and pub itself is well appointed and our bedroom when we arrived was warm and clean. We arranged to have dinner at 7 o’clock and the menu was good and we chose to have two venison pies. Although very attractively presented the contents of the pies were virtually null. Not much Bambi in these. these. We enjoyed sitting in the bar and then retired to bed. No sooner had we got into bed but we were joined by a tribute band devoted to Tina Turner. We love Tina Turner but we didn’t actually want to have her in the room with us. Nobody had warned us that there was live music on and it was such a volume that it prevented a sleeping for a couple of hours. Given that it was such a very cold night -5, we woke at about 3 o’clock to find that the heating wasn’t working. We found that there was a bar fire in the cupboard and so we put that on and that helped a little. The bathroom, although quite modern and clean only featured a shower directly from above without any other kind of shower attachment. Unfortunately, the water that emerged from the shower was lukewarm, the toilet again had woken us in the night because it was continually refilling and one of the buttons that flushes the toilet was obviously broken and hadn’t been repaired. Breakfast next day put us directly next to somebody who we didn’t know there was no spacing allowed, and we asked to be moved into one of the other table areas. This was done, you could tell with a bit of reluctance. When our breakfast which we had booked the night before arrived, they were warmish but was obviously not freshly cooked and when I asked one of the front of house staff for some brown sauce for my breakfast, I was just pointed in the direction of another room to go and find it. It’s a very simple thing, try and delight your customers. If you just stepped through and brought it to me that would’ve been nice that would’ve saved the morning. I don’t like moaning about other businesses. Hospitality is a hard enough thing to do, but there are so many ways of making it better without any extra cost. Unfortunately we won’t be returning to the green man.

Had a very nice stay here during a Wye Valley walking holiday. Room was spotless with a lovely big modern bathroom. Dog welcome! Also had a nice dinner here - much better standard than ordinary pub grub, it was really delicious and well presented. Staff were friendly - all in all, highly recommended.

Highly recommend this place. Superb in every way. Lovely old pub, roaring log fires, great food. Friendly staff and massive room. Very accommodating and great breakfast. Glad we chose it. Definitely worth a visit
