Wow. Had a great stay at American Beech. We were treated like royalty, given a room upgrade and a beverage a check in. Each day we received a continental breakfast in a picnic basket and it was perfect for us - just enough to get our day started. The staff was so attentive and friendly. Our room was spacious, beautiful and clean. I highly recommend American Beech.

Absolutely loved this hotel! Decorated so nicely and edgy! The complimentary rosé was a nice touch, as well as the awesome picnic basket breakfast! We will be returning again and will see what the warmer weather adds to the experience when the restaurant is open as well. The courtyard looked so great, can’t wait to come back.

It was a lovely stay around NYE celebrations. The staff was very responsive, just wish they would seemed a bit happier to be there. Hard to find anyone with a smile. We tried to engage in conversations to let them know we appreciated them but maybe the management team needs to have a team building or take the team for dinner or something. And cheer everyone up!

Looked promising on the internet ..it was quite nice ..different . The staff were very young and didn’t really seem that bothered with making their guests feel welcome ..wrong attitude . The room was fine .. bathroom clean and well equipped. Dinner in the restaurant was very good .. there again , the staff it really very professional- my question as to where the mussels were sourced was answered with - not sure , but definitely from an ocean ! Breakfast was nice .. more than I had hoped for , although 9 is a bit late if you want to make an early start . This hotel is overpriced, needs some properly trained staff and perhaps needs to go more for professionalism rather than a cool vibe .

We loved our stay here! We wanted a quiet, quick local getaway and this was the perfect place. The staff was extremely nice and the room was clean and fun. The breakfast basket delivered to the room was the cutest. We will definitely be visiting again.

Outstanding! I take frequent weekend trips and this was the best boutique I have ever experienced. Service and rooms were lovely. The morning picnic basket with the warm bagel with coffee was fabulous. You must have dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, the seafood pasta was delicious and place was packed with locals, so you know it’s good! Enjoyed the complimentary rose in the patio area. You can stroll downtown after your meal. I could go on—I loved it!

The restaurant is very attractive. We sat in the outside space which was particularly pretty. Seating was comfortable and well spaced. The food was creative and refined. Our shrimp ceviche was light and beautifully seasoned beautifully presented. The sesame crusted shrimp was also exceptional. Everything was done in a special manner. A meal to remember. Thank you to the helpful staff!

Avoid this hotel if you go to sleep before 3 am. Our room was above an empty storefront or so I thought. It turned into a bar at night and we had to listen to people yelling and the door opening and closing until 3 am. In addition, there are outdoor bars with live music on the property. We couldn’t sleep and checked out a day early but the hotel wouldn’t refund our money, relying on something we signed saying we wouldn’t be refunded if we left early. We didn’t expect that the conditions would be so bad that we had to check out, we had not planned on it. We lost $850 and a night of our vacation because the hotel was deceptive in its description of the property. Luxury to me usually means being able to sleep at a decent hour. If you are over 25 or go to sleep before 3 am, avoid this hotel. It’s a shame because the rooms are nice and the property is nice during the day. What they don’t tell you is that you essentially are living in the middle of a bar at night. The management acts like it advises you of the noise on the website. It is deceptive by putting in one line under a room stating where the room is located. That does NOT state you can’t sleep.

Stay away if you plan on getting any sleep. In addition, this hotel is deceptive in its advertising and relies on a policy you sign before you get there to not refund your money when you complain about not being able to sleep. DO NOT make a reservation here if you plan on getting to sleep before 3:00 am. We made a reservation because this hotel was described as a luxury boutique hotel in a cute town called Greenport. The hotel is actually several nightclubs that happen to have some rooms. We were in room 6. Below us was a bar that during the day you think is an empty storefront. Instead, it was a raucous bar with drunk people outside and the door opening a closing until 2:30 am. The walls actually shake when someone opens and closes the door. In addition, there is live music outside until 2 am. We couldn’t get to sleep until well after three am. The room was $850 per night. We tried to check out early because we couldn’t take another night without sleep. The hotel would not refund our money stating that we signed a document stating that we wouldn’t be refunded if we checked out early. They also advised that the website states that the room is above a bar. It is one line that states where the room is located Nothing else. There is nothing on the website that states it is so loud you can’t sleep. So we didn’t have any sleep for $850 a night and didn’t get a refund when we complained and checked out early. Beware of the deceptive description of the property and beware of staying in the middle of a nightclub.

We ate at their outdoor restaurant. Since we had no reservation, we had to place our order at the bar. The staff was very nice. The host made sure we would get our seating area as we ordered. We got the oyster appetizer, I got the mussels with the potato side, and my gf got the burger. Everything was delicious, especially the burger. The only negative was that the pillows were a bit dirty from being outside and there were mosquitos for a little bit. But other then that it was a cute vibe.

We must express our deep dissatisfaction with our stay at American Beech. Throughout our extensive travels, we have never encountered a situation where our accommodations were situated directly above a bar and restaurant, where you could hear every sound. There is no sound proofing or attempt to minimize the noise. The continuous music and loud noise, which commenced at 5pm and persisted until well after 1am, rendered it impossible for us to focus on work or get a restful night's sleep.

Very expensive for a very disappointing experience. The hotel website is misleading and presents the hotel as a boutique hotel , but it is not correct. It is mostly a big huge and noisy bar ( 3 of them)ALL rooms are noisy. It is centrally located, therefore the beaches are far away. The rooms are renovated but the beds need to be upgraded. If you are looking for a relaxing place, this is not the spot!

Have been coming here for years. At least once a year and sometimes twice a year. Unfortunately will never book this hotel again. While the hotel is clean and modern, They have cut staff making finding help when you need it almost impossible. Depending on which room you are placed in, you could be subject to loud music until 1am. And while it does state this on their website many people book through third party sites. The worst part is they are extremely unapologetic and unhelpful when addressing issues and complaints. The staff is probably over worked and underpaid and it comes through in the overall attitude. There are many new and exciting hotels in the area and I am excited to try them.

Sitting in our bedroom, just got off the phone with the manager “Kayla” because there is music blaring into our room. She told us there is nothing she can do for us, that we should have read that it is a “ lively “ hotel and it is noisy until 11 pm. Incredibly inept staff. Way too expensive for what it is. Kayla did say she gets many complaints about this, but we should have known. The General Manager Stephanie would not take our call and would not offer us anything in compensation in fact Kayla doubled down and said that all the rooms are extremely noisy until about 11pm, and it states this on the website…really? Never had this experience in a hotel, I’ve never written a review about a hotel, but I feel so strongly, that I hope people read this and don’t fall into the same trap we did.
