Doria Hotel Bodrum-City Center Reviews

The hotel is immaculate and our room was lovely with a 6' bed, balcony and stunning sea views across Bitez. The staff on reception (female and male) were very helpful during our stay calling taxis for us (very cheap) and giving information on local activities. The only negative for us was the breakfast buffet which became very repetitive and there seemed to be eggs, cheese and bread with everything! Also the service at breakfast was initially very slow and we had to keep asking for coffee etc before it appeared. Apart from the food manager, none of the waiting staff seemed to understand English which created a barrier and they also seemed to be running around like headless chickens instead of anticipating what guests needed before they had to ask for it (training!). Bitez beach is OK with some nice beachside restaurants and beach bars (best one at Sarnic beach with good food and music) but the resort was just opening so we only saw a little of what will be there in the next few weeks. The beach itself is gritty so we used the sun loungers provided free by the various bars along the beach. Bodrum city was OK but all the action is along the road running alongside the marina area which is packed with dozens of bars, restaurants and a nice open air shopping mall. The resort was full of Turks enjoying the city and very few other nationalities at this time. Footnote: everyone smokes everywhere!
