Makena Surf, a Destination by Hyatt Residence

Amazing 180 degree view of the beach, ocean and neighboring islands with breathtaking sunsets. Well-appointed 3-bedroom condo with easy access to beach, and other amenities (pool, tennis), and is close to other South Maui coast attractions, Kihei, and Road to Hana. Don't pay big $ to see turtles - you'll see them daily around the rocks on the beach. The condo comfortably sleeps 6 (King in Master, Queen in bdrm 2, and 2 singles in bdrm 3). If you're planning to spend time in Lahaina, Ka'anapali. Kapalua, plan a day trip. It's an hour plus drive.

Disliked · I booked an oceanfront condo but we were set back from the ocean and other buildings were closer and in front of us. The unit under us was being worked on. We dealt with banging noises, saws and sanders. We had painters on our actual balcony and looking inside our condo and windows. Plastic over our master bathroom window. The pictures shown on booking are not of the unit we stayed in. The units shown showed the 2nd bedroom as 2 queens or 4 bunk beds. This unit was no where in the booking pictures. We were told by the staff they had no other units available for us.

This is a potentially magnificent spot. It is older and needs updating which is being done. There is currently a major construction project going on with rehab of the 2 pools that I am told will be ongoing for 6 months. The problem is that I was not informed about this and this was staying in a construction zone on what was to be my relaxing Maui vacation. Do to the long travel this will likely be my family’s only trip and being put in this position was very disappointing and stressful. I am sure the property will be beautiful when the construction is done, but I would not trust this organization to be forthcoming about what is going on during your visit and would not chance planning a vacation at their property. I was given a 30% refund after complaining, but this did not make what they did ok. Again it was my one chance to come to Maui and I was in the middle of major construction.

Fantastic location and condo.Was clean and very usable. The master bed in the unit we stayed (F305) waas beyond use and after two days of waking up extremely sore we ended up sleeping on an inflatable mattress. We are adaptable, but might not be for everybody. Due to boooking at capacity, the concierge was unable to relocate us. Despite the hassles, this location is amzing and we had great snorkel days about half the time we were there - turtles all over the place!

We took our family of 11 to Makena Surf and had an outstanding time. The place, the beach and the pools were wonderful. We liked how we were out of the bustle of Kihei and Wailea, but close enough to do anything we wanted for meals and entertainment. Kids were 5 to 13 years of age.

Beware - I paid for a platinum level condo but was assigned one of the worst located and out of date condos on the property. Do not book through a travel agent or management company. Book directly with the condo owner for a specific condo.

With less than a month before our planned arrival, Makena Surf decided that our 5 families coming together from around the country to celebrate my father's 75th birthday could not stay in the building we rented as they wanted to perform standard exterior painting maintenance during that time. Not for a hazardous issue. Not for an unforeseen event. For cosmetic maintenance. Needless to say, this has devastated our plans. With less than a month before our planned arrival, we can no longer find suitable accommodations at Makena Surf or other nearby resorts for our entire group, thus meaning that our 5 families will be split between various locales. I understand the need for maintenance and potential unavailability of units, but informing our party of this just 1 month prior to arrival is horrific service. Such maintenance should not be performed unless a resort can notify affected visitors at least 3 months in advance and preferably 6 months so that alternative arrangements can be made (we had made reservations 9 months prior). Simply offering a refund does not come close to compensating our family for the disruption this has caused to our vacation.

Excellent beaches, close to high-end shops, restaurants and grocery store. Furnitures and carpet are bit old. Other than that, no complaints. We really enjoyed the stay. Staffs are friendly and very helpful

My group of 4 girlfriends stayed here for a weeklong golf and pickleball vacation in early December. This is an amazing rental unit as it is spotless and so tastefully updated. The carpets are brand new and the furnishings in great condition. The hosts have furnished the unit with all the comforts of home and you will want to spend all your time enjoying the wonderful views from the spacious lanai. Beach access pool, hot tub, gym and tennis/ pickleball courts are just steps away . Stunning golf courses are abundant in the local area. Check in and check out was seamless and hosts and management staff were all extremely helpful. Our stay in Makena Surf F-206 was a dream! We will definitely look forward to staying in F-206 again.
