If you are looking for an authentic place to spend your vacations at Himmafushi this is the place to stay, hands down. Yeah, there might be other fancier hostels with yoga and that king of things you may find anywhere in the world, but you won't get a place that 100% belongs and is ran by a local like in Jailbreak Surf in. Amin (the owner) is a legend. Always making sure you are comfortable, super friendly and the most just owner I have ever met anywhere in the world. Even though we have agreed on a price previously (which was already a under price value) by the end he spontaneously suggested a discount because we did not use the boat trips we were entitled to. Great rooms with vent and AC, very clean, and spacious bathroom. The food is more than adequate and tasty in general, even though a little more variety in the menu would be welcomed. Absolutely recommended, even without taking the price into consideration. Given that the price is so just, it is a gem.

Had a great time at Jail Break...the location is central and a 5 min walk to the bikini beach. There are also free bikes that you can use to get around the island. The place has a chill vibe with a lovely common area. The room I stayed at was big and spacious and priced reasonably. The host Amin is a lovely person and helps out in any way possible. There is a free boat service that takes you snorkeling & surfing.

We were 3 couples with children for 12 days and only 1 of us stayed. Being humble does not have to be at odds with hygiene. The photos have nothing to do with reality, the rooms smelled terrible, the bathrooms even worse, the entrance to my room was full of discarded cardboard, garbage bags, clotheslines full of old underwear, the sand at the entrance full of poop of a cat that is only covered with the same sand, they leave you a metal bottle to fill with water (dirty and o******) They have a water dispenser that instead of changing the dispenser bottle they refill it with small bottles with how dangerous it can be to reuse a bottle without cleaning or anything, just to say that I was there one day and in the next two days 3 of the 7 people were sick with gastroenteritis, I do not recommend it at all, that is not a vacation. You may think that I am someone very demanding or that I had a problem and I post this comment but no, I have been a surfer for more than 25 years and I have seen and been to many places. I felt totally cheated
