Reviews of Empire Hotel Hong Kong－Wan Chai

The hotel is in a good location and it's well priced for a 4 star hotel in Wan Chai. However I accidentally booked the wrong night and was not able to receive a refund.

Convenient located within walking distance of the MTR station. It’s near the entertainment area and the main exhibition centre. Reasonable price and sufficient room size for two person. I would recommends for friends and families.

- Check in cannot be done before 15:00, even if a room is available. Lobby is full of people sitting and sleeping, waiting for their room. Check out is 11:00. - Room is average size for Hong Kong. - The bed pillows smelled extremely bad. - Bath drain did not work, water was constantly draining. - Air conditioning was very noisy. - TV channels are very few (none international) and extremly spaced between each other. You have to flip through the channel guide for a while. - They supply coffee and tea but no bottled water. - Breakfast was average but served in a very uninviting basement location. - Front Office service was disengaged. - They have" green practices" encouraging you not to change your bed linnen (good) but also asking that you do not deconnect the electricity in your room when you leave, so it stays fresh and air conditoned (bad). Overall I would not go back. Only the good location is a plus, otherwise service and amenities are subpar.

The room was acceptable for the price—nothing extraordinary, but reasonable overall. However, there was a slight musty smell when I first entered. The air conditioning helped reduce it, and after a while, I’m not sure if the smell faded or if I just got used to it. Aside from that, the stay was fine. If the odor could be addressed, it would make the experience much better.

The location is good, stayed at 11th floor, not really affected by any traffic noise. Lots of food choices nearby and walking distance to Wanchai station and Tram stops. Though without impressive window view, still could have a glimpse of something “only HK has it”.

Very good position 500mt. From the subway. Big room space. Good breakfast western and Chinese style. The staff was very helpful. And kind Clean very good Bear the bus stop to the airport A11 5 minutes walk Recommended!

Absolutely Outstanding Stay! Our experience at the Hong Kong Empire Hotel Wan Chai was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the warm, friendly, and genuinely helpful staff who made us feel welcome and taken care of throughout our stay. The room exceeded all expectations — it was spacious, spotlessly clean, and incredibly quiet. We couldn’t hear any noise from the street or neighboring rooms, which allowed us to fully relax and enjoy a peaceful rest. The bed was extremely comfortable with soft linens that made it hard to get up in the morning! One of the highlights was the breakfast, which truly surprised us in the best way. It was included in the room rate and offered an impressive variety of delicious, high-quality options — plentiful, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. We left feeling completely refreshed and very happy with our stay. We will definitely be returning on our next visit to Hong Kong. Highly recommended!

Very close to MTR Station and bus stop. Comfortable and clean. Many good restaurants within walking distance.

Good service! Very helpful reception…I needed a new comforter in the middle of night as my child accidently spilled drinks on the comforter and they were very helpful and attended to me very fast..definitely would recommend in future..

The location is great, in the center of Wan Chai which is the center of HK island. Yet, the amenities are quite limited: no gym, no rooftop, & even no water machine. For those who have a very short stay in the city center, this hotel is still worth trying, given that brands of the same level such as ibis or Holiday Inn are not available.

Business trip. Strategic location. It’s considered not a new building. Overall is good. Worth the price.

1st impression when arrived at the hotel was, it's a busy hotel in a busy district of Wan Chai. It's a bit dated, but renovation is taking place as I stay. Breakfast in the morning has plenty of choices, The dining room is massive. Afternoon tea starts at 3-7, which was more than enough of time . But the selection of food was another matter. From promotional video, there were more variations, like egg tart, tea cakes, and at the lounge, there're no cocktails as expected nor spirits drinks . Not even basic G&T , whisky sour. Only soft drinks ,tea, coffee, and choice of red and white wine. There's no staff in the lounge to facilitate guess needs .I have to check with the staff at the front desk to realise that changes had taken place in the past year. That's a big disappointment as I paid the extra to use the facilities and benefits which happened to end without notice nor compensation. Room is spacious and clear view ,partly Seaview. Plenty room for 1 person, and the air con was working perfectly until last night-my last night in staying. Around 03:20 ,I was getting up to go to the bathroom. Just then, I felt the slippers were getting wet. When checked ,realise that there's water leaking from the ceiling. I rang the housekeeper to report the incident. Maintenance staff arrived and fixed the leakage within a space of time, app.an hour. Overall, it's an experience. I wish they looked into my suggestions, and maybe I'll be back to check it out.

I have to say, this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. When I booked the hotel, I was really looking forward to my stay, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a big disappointment. Upon arrival, I was given a room where something was broken and making loud noises. The front desk staff called other employees to check it out. They looked at me strangely and then told me I’d be moved to another room. After a short wait, I received a different room. The scent used in the room was very unpleasant for me, though I understand this might be subjective. The room was extremely old, the furniture was damaged and worn out, and some parts of the wall were decayed. The bathroom was also very run-down, with several poorly done repairs and a flickering light that was quite disturbing. Whenever someone nearby was taking a shower, I could hear the water running – and often even voices from other rooms. There was dust in several areas of the room – not just a little, but quite a lot. The worst part was what I discovered on the last day. I woke up with back pain and noticed a stain on the mattress, which I believe was urine. Absolutely disgusting. When I later complained through customer support, the hotel refused any refund. I truly feel like I did not get what I paid for. The pictures of the hotel do not reflect reality at all.

the room was sooo cute 😍 they even gave a free bottle of red wine (for free) as a gift for our anniversary. its all good. one thing tho, the swimming pool if closed. 😭😭😭 im not sure why... nevertheless, the stay waa good. location is superb. lots of restos in the area and just 3mins walk to the nearest mrt station. thank you empire hotel! 🚩
