Amazing

Was an easy walk from the port to the hotel. They had a pool but I didn’t get in it. My room was just as described online with a hammock outside the balcony and the water with the sunrise in the morning was amazing. Only thing I would mention is the bathroom door is see through so there is no real privacy in the shower or toilet, also the door didn’t lock. There was a fridge and ac unit.
Overall a nice place to stay.

We really enjoyed our 3 nights stay. The check in process was quick within 5-10 mins and we were given the quiet room type as requested when we booked which is great. Room is big and clean with amazing ocean view and come with your own private balcony and hammock. Shower water pressure and temperature were on point too. We were worried about the Wi-Fi due to the numerous complaints seen online but surprisingly it was great throughout our stay at the highest floor!
Fresh drinking water located the lobby with hot drinks making facility and they also provide microwave which is a bonus. Location is very strategic as well, just get off the ferry pier then walk straight up the road and within 2 mins you will find Rocamar. Supermarket (Super Aki) is nearby too, within 1-2 mins walk only. So as the restaurants, laundry services and souvenir shops which were less than 5 mins walk. We would highly recommend this hotel.
Con: They can improve on washing the towels, though cleaned but still stained.

The only advantage is that the location is good, the bathroom is too basic

Great value. Beautiful views, comfortable. Staff very attentive and friendly. Rm was clean. Saw a bad review by mark s. From Chicago. We were there at the same time. He told me to write a bad review so others don’t want to stay here. Dirty man. Told me we need to keep this place a secret!

Unattended grounds. Pool Green with Algae. No umbrellas. They did buy some at our request. But why did we have to ask? A storm came through. They failed to take the umbrellas down. My wife did. Overflowing garbage. Lying about their names. Lazy....... just lazy. This is difficult because I like this place. But the current lazy generation is here now. I've had to make some calls and drop some names to get things cleaned up here. And it's done now. But why? Do your jobs. So, beds are good, pillows are good. Location good. Some staff, not so good. No visible chanels on tv. All static. Some AC's work. So check before excepting room. Been stayng here for over 10 years. This was quite a surprise to see the lack of enthusiasm and pride. Totally a US model.

This quaint hotel right on the ocean was a gem! It is extremely clean and well-maintained. It’s super convenient to the ferry, restaurants, and shopping. The pool overlooked the ocean and the courtyard was very welcomimg, with its rocking chairs and tables for gathering with friends.

After many, many visits to Isla Mujeres and stays in hotels as well as small casitas, our group of two couples opted for Rocamar because of its location on the malecon and its walkability to the beach, cafés, shops and restaurants we love. We requested second floor rooms and were squared away quickly despite a midnight arrival thanks to Jesse. A very quick room change was effected by 1 pm the next day for our travelling companions who had requested a king bed, and I’d say it was a fabulous upgrade to Room 18! If you’ve stayed there you’ll know why. Many thanks, Alma. A few thing took some getting used to but were quickly sorted. Bathrooms have glass walls but full privacy is ensured by pulling draperies over exposed areas. Stand far back as you adjust your shower temperature where you like it — hot water there is HOT. Our housekeeper was Kandy, a sweet woman who left everything gleaming each day around 11 am in our case. She provided extra towels and even some “Cloro” so I could get a stain out of my new white tee. We made sure to tip her everyday, even her day off, for her pleasant demeanour and friendly conversation. It helps that my Spanish is good. I’d say the hugest plus of Rocamar are its balcony views of the Caribbean Sea and the waves rolling in. Coffee and sunrises just naturally go together here. The sun moves to the southeast by lunchtime, so we would often spend our early afternoons by the small pool or the outdoor tables under shady canopies. The pool was clean and uncrowded; other guests were pleasant and respectful. Our single complaint was handled swiftly by the desk when a family had their small children in the courtyard running and shouting at 1 am. A definite bonus for us was the hotel cat, Misha, a clean spayed female dilute calico. She befriended us and spent most nights on our bed sleeping. She meowed to go out and returned in the evenings after dinner! There may or may not have been tuna involved. :) I hope all guests are accepting of her if not completely mad about her as we are. Look past a few dated things that could use paint. New pool umbrellas would be great but we know they take a beating with the constant onshore wind. We most assuredly will return to Rocamar for what we feel was an economical, safe and comfortable stay.

Original book with Playa Luna Media they over book was send to here Rocamar. Front desk was helpful with check-in assign us a third floor room. This hotel has no beach and not a nice pool. The room we got was dirty and discussing. Bathroom towel was dirty and bedding has stained on it and worst part no hot water. We have to ask for different room middle of night. Second floor room is little bit better. Will not recommend booking a stay for here. We paid $450 for 2 nights. Wish we had other options.

It's time for an updated review on Hotel Rocamar! I have been staying there for 2-3 x a year for many years now and for me it's still as good as the first time, even better because the beds have been updated a few years ago. Excellent location right on the Malecon with million dollar views of the Ocean/Sunrise. I usually get a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor- you can put a request in by email a head of time and although they can't promise rooms they always do their best to accommodate me. I love spending days at the small, but beautiful pool with dreamy ocean breezes. The location is excellent for walking to Playa Norte, Hidalgo, and the Ferry Terminal. Jessie and Alma have been there for years and always go above and beyond to help make my stay enjoyable. Affordable, excellent location, clean. There are many affordable places to eat in the town square which is right out the front side of the hotel. A real Gem, still after all these years!

We got to the hotel around 1pm and no rooms were available. We had to wait until 3p-4pm for a room. When we did get a room, it was not room we booked. I got a queen room with a twin bed that looked like a kiddie bed. I stayed in room 10 at the hotel for 2nights. The open area is a gathering place for people coming in and out. It is loud and no one thinks that someone may be resting. In the morning the staff starts early so all you hear is trash cans banging, talking, staff playing music. We had an ocean view room which the view was beautiful. The downside is the wall outside. The locals come and hang out. The cleaning crew literally came and sat in front our room for about 2 hours laying on the wall, playing music and talking at 6am. I had absolutely no rest at this hotel. The entire island really is somewhere I never have to visit again.

We had a great 4 days on the island. The hotel is located a short walk from the main ferry port but away from the main drag. Everything is walkable but it’s nice to be a little bit away. The room was fantastic, cleaned every day and very spacious. The balcony and the view of the ocean was particularly special.

The location is perfect. 5 minutes to the ferry and the centre of Isla Mujeres is around the corner. Balcony with a nice breeze and seaviews. Nice pool. Rooms differ somewhat. We had 2 rooms, one with a somewhat old airco, the other one with a new airco. I think it could be pretty perfect if they put some extra effort in maintenance, modernisation and orhanising breakfast. We had an agreeable and convenient stay. NB A very good place for breakast is located 50 m away, on the corner.

The hotel Rocamar used to be one of my favourite places to be on Isla for quality vs price but unfortunately the hotel needs a facelift as things are falling apart. Some paint would really help, fixing tiles in the bathroom, doors that close in the bathroom, water pressure in the shower, mirrors in the bedroom that are no longer mirrors and so on are starting to make the place look really sad. I have traveled all over the world and nowhere have I ever been asked to pay for leaving my luggage if more than 3 hours, especially when the hotel needs so much TLC. It's only 100 pesos for extra hours, so it's not the money but the principle that when you have a hotel that is not in the best shape you try to compensate by being nice to your customers. On the plus side, the location is still great, 2 minutes walk from the Main Street where all the restaurants are, the hotel faces the ocean and the views are amazing. I hope the management rethinks its strategy and tries to make their clientele feel welcome and appreciated by doing little extra things that would bring more life into the hotel

My first time at Rocammar was at 2018, I came back again because it was good. This time, post-covid I guess, it was dirty and a bad experience. I decided to switch hotels (Nomads hotel which is great) and absorb the nights I paid. The location is fine and if you are traveling by yourself on a very limited budget it might be your option, but be sure to know it's not a clean place

The reviews are accurate. Some rooms are better than others. This place is built like a bunker and noise from neighbors was minimal. Basement level (1) rooms don't have hammocks and feel a bit exposed since the balconies are right on the malecon. The upper level rooms are the way to go. The beds are decent. The sheets and towels are worn. The bathroom mirror was unusable as it was completely rusted. We appreciated the fridge and coffee maker in the room and access to water to refill water bottles. The common areas are a nice feature. Great location for access to town. Loved hearing the surf. Responsive maintenance. With just a little bit of TLC this could be a gem.
