I stayed here June 6th and 7th 2024 I have stayed at dozens of places in Japan over three months, from temples to hotels, guest houses, and hostels. I am not some person who has only stayed at top hotels then got upset when not knowing what to expect elsewhwere. This was the worst experience BY FAR. There is an extremely rude monk running the place. ***** bath only, which is not listed on the reservation sites. To make matters worse, it is only open for four hours a day in the evening. Want a morning shower or bath? Too bad, it is only open 4 hours in the evening. Want a clean bath? Too bad. There was a giant millipede swimming around in the bath. When I tried to show the monk and didnt take my slippers off in the right place of the bathroom he yelled at me. SHOES HERE NOW! I tried to say look please there is a huge bug (in Japanese) and he yelled again SHOES HERE NOW! NOW! I have no idea how such a rude person became Buddhist, he clearly does not follow his own religion. In every Japanese accommodation there is at bare minimum communal hot water for tea and a microwave. Not here though. When I asked about it the monk acted like I was crazy and gave me an attitude. He left the office at 3:30 and disappeared despite a 5pm closing time. Need info? Too bad.

I stayed at two temples in Koyasan and this one was much inferior to the first one. They do not serve any meals. The staff was not very welcoming and cordial. They only offer one option to bath at night and nothing the morning. They also only offer one temple experience in the AM at 6:30. They were not helpful to assist visitors to determine where to sit and how to participate in the service. Would suggest you do your research in choosing a temple. The price was very good and I guess one gets value for what was the price.

Very practical temple. Bus stop and parking in front of it, in the middle of Koyasan. Futons are convenient and the room has its own bathroom. The Onsen are clean and proper. Check in between 3 and 5 pm. Monks would wait for your evening excursions. No dining or breakfast. Only negative point is that the pillows are made of wood or seeds, very tough…

This location is so quiet and serene. It was a privilege to watch the monks morning prayers. Rooms were large. Location was walkable to the various sights. I misunderstood the webpage when I booked and thought that dinner and breakfast were included but no meals are served here. I’m not sure if it is the time of year or whether it is always the same but local restaurants seemed to only be open from 9 to 4.

There is no good service, they do not provide hot water to drink tea despite the cold. When we left it was raining and cold, but they didn't offer to call us a taxi. Disappointed.

Due to the corona virus, they have not been serving food for a while. I had already confirmed and agreed to that in advance, but I never thought that many restaurants would close at 16:00! ️ Feeling a little lack of research. There is no problem because the convenience store is nearby, but if you want to eat at the store, go early. It was nice to have a fresh feeling at work in the morning.

The room was new and very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean, and I'm glad that they made arrangements not to be with other people. It was a pity that I was looking forward to Shojinryori, but it turned out to be a meal at a convenience store because I knew that there was no meal due to lack of confirmation on the day. Even with that, the cleanliness and comfort of the room is outweighed. It was nice to be able to participate in the morning work. The location is also close to Danjogaran and Kongobu-ji Temple, and I was able to go for a walk at night, which was a good memory.
