Amandayan

The room cleaning was decent, everything looked quite clean. The view was pretty good, with the snowy mountains and the old town visible. The service staff were very friendly, but the front desk was just so-so. The room was noisy at night due to the bars in the old town. The toiletries provided were very poor; the toothbrush shed bristles and the razor was even worse than those found in chain hotels. So, the toiletries are a far cry from what you'd expect in a luxury hotel. What was written on the mini-bar menu wasn't fully stocked; I had to ask for things to be delivered, and they claimed they didn't have them before, which was ridiculous. Breakfast was good though, with a wide selection.

What makes Amandayan truly captivating is its seamless blend of the 'Aman aesthetic' with the essence of Naxi ethnic architecture. The hotel is a collection of beautifully arranged courtyards. Stepping inside, you're immediately greeted by time-honored wooden structures, upturned eaves adorned with traditional 'xuanyu' elements, and intricately carved six-panel lattice windows. Every brick, tile, piece of wood, and stone preserves an authentic, ancient charm. The hotel's pathways are serene, with every turn revealing a new sight. Crystal-clear streams meander through the courtyards, and the private gardens in front of the guest rooms, complete with pavilions, waterside platforms, and precious flora, form an elegant Chinese garden tableau. No matter where you are, you feel a sense of secluded tranquility and peace. Though just a stone's throw from the bustling ancient town outside, it feels a world away. Perched atop Lion Mountain, the hotel not only occupies the highest point of the ancient town but also its most central and secluded area. Without needing any transportation, a short stroll takes you down to the bustling Sifang Street in minutes, where you can explore unique shops and bars. The biggest advantage, however, is the hotel's exclusive access to the best viewpoint overlooking the entire Lijiang Ancient Town and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. You can enjoy the radiant sunrise and sunset over the ancient town and the spectacular golden peaks of the snow mountain in an exceptionally private setting. Whether visiting attractions like Mu's Residence and Wangu Tower or seeking out local delicacies, everything is within easy reach. My flight arrived an hour early, and upon landing, I immediately received updated pickup information from the hotel. Each evening, there were exquisite desserts and local characteristic souvenirs. These thoughtful details conveyed a sense of care, making the entire journey feel truly cherished.

Amandayan boasts an unbeatable location, offering stunning panoramic views of Lijiang Old Town, day and night. The service was impeccable. We were even upgraded to a luxury suite! Participating in the hotel's botanical printing workshop and the morning exercise at Zhongyi Market made the experience truly wonderful. The hotel's breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner were all superb! My trip to Lijiang was purely for Amandayan.

Nestled discreetly on Lion Mountain, Amandayan exudes a timeless, rustic charm. Every corner of the property offers a breathtaking view. The Chinese restaurant uses incredibly fresh ingredients, and its dishes are simply delicious. My only minor suggestion would be to add a couple more dining options. I'm already looking forward to my next visit, perhaps in winter!

This was my first stay at Amandayan, and I was thoroughly impressed with everything. As we were a large family and had booked two courtyard suites, the hotel thoughtfully arranged a private courtyard just for us. They even kept the adjacent rooms empty, which was incredibly considerate. Upon check-in, we were offered hot towels and tea, a lovely touch. The service was impeccable; staff proactively assisted with our luggage all the way from the car to our rooms. For dinner, we dined one night at the Chinese restaurant and another at the Western restaurant. At the Chinese restaurant, we had pre-ordered the mushroom hotpot, which was exceptionally flavorful. The Western restaurant arranged for outdoor dining, overlooking the vibrant ambiance of the ancient town below, which we absolutely loved.
