We booked 5 nights at HSM Sandalo hoping for a relaxing beach getaway. However, things quickly turned unpleasant when we found ants in every room of the apartment as soon as we checked in. When we informed the receptionist, he gave us a big can of insecticide and told us to spray it even though we had two young kids including a newborn with us. The AC was also not working so it was hot and muggy in the room. The last straw was when we found a large cockroach crawling in our apartment. We requested the room to be cleaned thoroughly and when we asked if they were able to get the cockroach, the receptionist simply answered “the cleaners just clean”. When we got back to the room, we found the cockroach in the bathroom. At this point, we decided to move hotels and asked for a refund of the two remaining nights. The receptionist refused and told us to deal with it through Booking. We’ve contacted them multiple times via Booking and as of Oct 25, 2023, they have been unresponsive for 10 days.
