W15 Weligama Reviews

Very poor. It’s hard to find an outlet in the hotel. The room is almost not soundproof. The room rate of 800 to 900 is worth at most 200 to 300. You can’t swipe your card before leaving. Even visa master doesn’t work. What a four-digit pin code. It’s ridiculous.

Background to the review: Sri Lanka got its independence more or less same time as Singapore. Since then, nationalists came into power (and went), decided to get rid of the English language in favour of their Singalese language (Singapore embraced English because they knew how important a common business language is), a civil war came and thirty years later went, and well, Sri lanka is what we have today. A beautiful country, amazing people, horrendous diesel pollution but excellent food! We decided to stay three days at this hotel and what a surprise it was. This is an excellent hotel, right at the beach (no beach boys here) wth comfort, excellent food and perfect location. The rooms are big, A/C included, large double bed, and excellent restaurant at the beach. By the time we get down for breakfast, the sea is full of surfers (most of who were from Russia), and there are surf schools all along the shore. Food is excellent, and there are different themes depending on the day. One evening, fresh fish was available (I took tuna steaks) and enjoyed them. The same evening a musician who was perfect in both Sax and violin, entertained us non-stop. A real treat for me who loves jazz. Patrons are young (which is cool), and although you hear the music in the room, it's not bothering at all.

We stayed for three nights in the executive suite, paying top dollar (more than $350 to be accurate), only to discover there was a huge festival in the hotel on our entire third night. There was extremely loud music, hundreds of people, and no place to sit. Upon our return to the hotel (after having to go elsewhere due to the festival), they asked us to pay an entrance fee, and we were even told not to use the pool! Shame on you, W15!

Beach front restaurant with good vibe, service was excellent and food is good but not excellent I think. Best place to chill in the evening with friends or family. Also it's close to many surf spots and you can have a surf and chill at the same time. I Highly recommend this place.

Location, food, bar, pool and the pool table. Loved the fact that the surf school was right behind the property. Surfing, chilling, eating, using pool and bar area was seamless. Live music was great. Waiter (Dhanuska), Bar Tender (Kasun), and Pizza Chef (Udar) were all great, providing great service. This is the first hotel with no room slippers! This came as a surprise! Take away breakfast for whale watching was awful.

Stayed here with some other friends and was a great spot away from Mirissa, but still a very short tuk tuk. Very close to a variety of restaurants and bars walking distance and whilst our room was basic, the bigger rooms looked great! So nice to sit and have breakfast literally on the beach, pool table and enjoyable music all afternoon. Would definitely stay again!

W15 Weligama is a gem on the southern coast of Sri Lanka. It's location on the beach amongst surf schools is the ideal location for those wanting to take up some surfing lessons and believe me you'll want to. The vibe of the hotel is well set from their daily DJ's, Pool Table, Pool and their fabulous cocktails made by their friendly and talented bartenders. Andrew and his team did everything to make the visit the most memorable part of the holiday. The staff were very attentive and always helpful and friendly. The food was fantastic and flavours authentic. The Executive Suite had an amazing view of the ocean, was clean, spacious and well designed. The bed was very comfortable and bathroom had a nice design. Would definitely stay again! Thanks again Andrew and team!

My brother and I stopped in weligama on our journey down south. Spent 2 nights at the W15 and the bar was set high. From the courteous staff to Andrew the manager. They accommodated us and made us feel as if we were at home the whole stay. In fact we loved our stay so much on our way back we decided to extend the holiday and spend 2 additional nights here. I would highly recommend the W15 and will be back here the next time I'm in the area.

We just enjoyed 2 weeks at W15 Weligama. 10 rooms only and great outdoor facilities. Restaurant with impressive selection and quality for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Super service by waiter Dhanushka👍, and GREAT JOB by resort manager Andrew👏👍!!

Would not recommend anyone staying here. The design of the rooms is okay, however the cleanliness of the room and smell in the bathroom could have been better. The overall maintenance of the facility could have been better. The service is slow in the restaurant and the DJ is playing loud music all evenings until 11 pm (nice if you’re out for great vibe, not if you want to sleep). The pool looks dirty. The only good thing is the location, close to the beach.

We stayed here for a night. The location is beautiful - right next to the sea beach. The food is awesome and the breakfast choices completely overwhelm you in a nice way. We had freshly made pizzas for dinner and they tasted great. The room was big, spacious and very modern. The staff was extremely helpful in telling us directions and useful tips to go around the place. There is a marketplace about a kilometre away, where you can get your required stuff. There is a money changer right across the road (part of a jewellery shop). While the hotel accepts credit card payments, one would need local money for all other payments. Also there are multiple activities like surfing classes - which are very affordable. I would definitely come back here whenever I am here next.

We went into W15 from the beach for dinner. We are a family of 4 and we thought dinner was the best we had in Weligama. Prawn curry was great, and not much more expensive than more local places. Would highly recommend. We didnt try the cocktails as the bar was being refurbished.

Stayed for 2 nights on BB basis with my family in a Deluxe room. Room was cosy and was well maintained. Had the required amenities. Music by DJ is played from late afternoon till 11pm but it didn't really bother us probably because of the location of the room was away. Music was nice and there was an addition of an expert violinist that upped the atmosphere. Breakfast was just awesome and hats off to Udaya (the person who attended to us) and the Chef for providing splendid meals. Need to mention Mr. Andrew who was friendly and always checked how we were faring whenever he saw us. Beach was just excellent and awesome spot for surfers. Definitely a place to return to.
