Mahogany Hotel Residence & Spa

We were at the Mahogany Residence and Spa hotel which is part of the La Créole hotel...It is the same place and there is no difference or advantage to being in one or the other locations . We had a room equipped with a kitchenette on the balcony. Clean and sober room but really lacking in storage. The bed is comfortable. Our balcony had a view of the interior courtyard, not very chic, but we were quiet. Good points ; The Hotel is very well located near the village of Le Gosier where access to the whole of Grande Terre and Basse Terre is easy, however you absolutely need to rent a car to have an easy time seeing the main attractions of the area. island. The roads are beautiful and it is quite easy to navigate. There are a few restaurants. around the hotel and several car rental companies. The beach is pretty but not the most beautiful on the island. Locals have unlimited access to the beach and sometimes it becomes more difficult to frequent. In the evening there are a few shows but the drinks at the bar are expensive (from $12 to $20 CAN.) for one drink. Negative points We were the victim of a major water cut for 4 days where we had to "Flush" the toilet with water boilers. No hot water for the shower. The Hotel offered no compensation to customers...not even a drink at the bar or a lunch at the restaurant because we had nothing included....Disappointing. Other negative points are the lack of security on the site with young people from the area who come to smoke their pot, listen to music and be noisy by taking the beach chairs reserved for customers and being directly on the installation of the hotel.

The pluses: - the location - the spacious room with kitchen - cleanliness of the hotel and the rooms - beautiful swimming pool - nice little beach - quality massage trea**ent facing the sea The minuses: - under-equipped kitchen (no big knife, cutting board 10x10,...) - the cleaning service starts very early (scrubber which passes near the room at 8 o'clock) - restaurant: dinner meal at 41 euros per person, shameful value for money (example: cold dish at 21 hour) - beach frequented by people outside the hotel (people smoking funny tobacco...) while my wife was forbidden to vape on the outdoor terrace - excursion to the island of biches leaving something to be desired: I don't speak not the weather which was not good but the organization (maybe cancel from the start or revise the circuit depending on the weather, less time in the mangrove and then go to sea) - breakfast at 29 euro!!! Not much to add...

The rooms are quality. Alright. I love their very varied breakfast with a view of the beach!

I would say that it is a decent establishment without any wows with a beautiful beach which may be small but which is still very pretty. For the spa, you have to reserve no free access, even hamam... what really shocked me was the number of cats in the restaurant! Disgusting 🤮 it’s everywhere… the rooms are spacious with kitchen on the terrace, it’s cool 👍

Very nice week at Mahogany. I found that there were few reviews for this hotel. I believe many write their comments under “La Créole Beach Hotel and spa” Allow between 30 and 40 Euro for the transfer from the airport to the hotel, around 20 minutes. Tell the taxi: direction La Créole hotel because Mahogany they don't know that name. The check-in went well, but the room was not ready (3 p.m.), they gave us a coupon for a glass of planter (free) to enjoy at the beach! (Nevertheless nice). We returned to reception and the room was ready and the suitcases were returned to our room! We were in the same hotel as La Creole, there was a wing for Mahogany! The front desk employees have always been nice! THANKS! We took a sea view room. (See photo). The kitchenette on the balcony: wonderful. We had breakfast there every morning and in the afternoon wine and cheese before dinner! There are several small restaurants nearby: across the street or a little after the ****** and the Ti Maki The dinner buffet at the hotel 40 Euro per person. The swimming pool: very beautiful, always clean, beautiful blue lighting in the evening. The beach: don't expect a long beach so you can take long walks, if you wish there are several other beautiful beaches. You can take a small shuttle (small orange electric bus which stops in front of the ****** for 1.5 euros). There is also a big orange bus - I don't know where it goes, nor the price) There are two small markets: one almost in front of the hotel and the other near the Ti Maki restaurant - as well as 'a pastry. Very safe to walk on the sidewalk during the day and in the evening. (in the evening watch out for cars - there are several going to restaurants) Bring mosquito repellent cream or spray. In the evening on our balcony, we were bitten by very small flies. Weird thing: in the toilet-shower room, the shower is not closed, so when showering, there is water everywhere! Luckily they left us several towels to soak up the water on the floor. In the evening, the sound of frogs is quite loud, but you get used to it. Lots of roosters, chickens, cats, dogs and birds. On Wednesday mornings, go to the free rum tasting (Serge), it's worth it. In the evening: there was the piano man around 6 p.m. and around 8:30 p.m. music at the Rhumerie bar and one evening Creole dancing at the beach. Car rental: Hertz across the street, it was all rented, go towards the ******, there is Eurocar, we rented a car for a day, it's worth visiting the surroundings . We took a boat trip (kiosk near the beach) 95 Euro p.p. for the day 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. dinner and rum included. What's good about Guadeloupe: there are no sellers like in Mexico... I recommend this hotel. Everything was magnificent!

Hotel a little aging. The rooms are spacious but do not offer anything that could justify such a high price. As for breakfast, €29 per person for a buffet is also excessive.
