Hakodate-Onuma Prince Hotel Reviews

I was unsure what to expect as the hotel is slightly remote and we did not have a car. Read that there is a shuttle bus but I request twice on the schedule via trip app but received no response 🤨 Had to request a Japanese hotel that we stayed before prince to help us check out the timing of the bus schedule and we also went to travel information counter and finally got the timing. Phew. The staff at the hotel are very friendly. Special shout out to Peter from Canada who is born and raised in Hokkaido. He is such a nice and warm person who offered us lots of advice around Onuma. Prince hotel is very lucky to have a staff like him!! 👍

The room is clean and tidy. The staff service is good and polite. The onsen is really great with good lake view.

The hotel has a shuttle bus that picks you up directly from JR Onuma Koen Station. The hotel has a large hinterland and it takes time to walk around. It is very pleasant to walk. There are bicycles available for rent. The location of the restaurant is very good. You can enjoy Komagatake while eating, which is very happy.

The rooms are arranged in the shape of wings with the front desk at the center, and the elevator is only in the middle, and the baths (especially the men's bath) are located far from the center, so depending on the location of the room, you may have to walk around the building. I have to walk quite a bit. However, the room is clean and the bath has a view of the swamp, so it's very comfortable. Many of the restaurants at the end of the day serve Western food, and some are closed for the winter, so I decided to go to the hotel's buffet instead. It's quite expensive at 7,000 yen including a main course, but the food is delicious (although I think it's reasonable considering the price) and you can choose between meat and fish for the main course. The Onuma beef hamburger I chose was typical of Onuma beef, with a strong red flavor and deliciousness. The breakfast menu is very standard and the taste is average, but I think the high point was that the milk was Yamakawa Farm milk. It's reasonable for 20,000 yen for one night and two meals.The facilities were comfortable, so I gave it a slightly better score.

Other hotels provide hot spring clothing in different sizes, but here there is only one size, which is a bit challenging for tall people. The hot spring is very good, and there is a large lake in front of it, which is very open. The breakfast was great, very serious and kind.

The Komagatake corner double-view room is great and highly recommended. The open-air hot spring is also great for watching the snow scenery. There were not many guests checking in that day, so the overall situation was very leisurely and relaxing. For breakfast, you can enjoy hand-made rice balls on the spot. You can also enjoy famous local specialties from all over Hokkaido, such as Genghis Khan barbecue. The extra-priced dinner didn’t feel like the CP value was that high (but the hamburger steak was super delicious!

Big hotel in the middle of nature The view from the room is very beautiful. There is an onsen service. The a**osphere is very good. I recommend it.

It was a good experience staying at Hakodate Onuma Prince Hotel. There is a shuttle bus to and from the hotel. The room is clean and smell-free, and the hot spring is great. The hotel is surrounded by green plants, winding paths, green lawns and fresh air, allowing guests to enjoy a leisurely and clean a**osphere.

There is a fixed shuttle bus to Qifan Ski Resort. It's very convenient for us who mainly ski. The hotel is beautiful and the restaurant and bakery are delicious. There are hot springs for men and women. With Onuma Wagyu.

As a surprise hotel on this trip to Hokkaido, I chose to walk through Onuma Park and continue walking to get here. In fact, the hotel has a car to pick me up. The hotel is extremely cost-effective, has a great design style, large rooms, and you can see Komagatake from the breakfast venue. The food is of good quality and there are local dairy products. You can also try the large bathroom. Worth staying.

The breakfast is good, but unfortunately, its hot spring pool is quite old.

On the way from Sapporo to Onuma, high speed and heavy snow all the way, I doubt my life. Fortunately, I checked into the hotel smoothly. The facilities are very old, but the service is good. The hot spring is very slippery, the open-air bath faces a frozen lake, and it is very quiet with snow at night. The nearby ski fields are also beautiful. The hotel has a shuttle bus to the ski resort.

OK, just average

This hotel is located pretty deep in the woods, it's a bit scary to drive there after dark, but once you reach the main building, there's a large parking lot close by. (There are a few buses go to the hotel as well, but beware nothing is within the walking distance) The hotel is quite big but somehow has a cozy feeling I can't really tell why, probably due to a combination of lighting, texture and smells. This is most obvious in the guest rooms. My room wasn't very big. It didn't look fancy, it didn't even have a view (just trees outside). But I still felt comfortable just to be there and I enjoyed my stay. The hotel was also a lot quieter than I expected, with fewer tourist groups than other major hotels I stayed in Hokkaido recently. They do have a laundry room for guests, which is very rare for a hotel at this level. The one thing that disappointed me was the dinner. Yes the restaurant had a good view to the lighted swamp outside, but the portion was ridiculously small and the taste wasn't good enough for the price tag. Because there's nothing within walking distance, I had to drive out to the nearest convenience store to get more food. The breakfast buffet was great though, with a huge selection of items and good taste. The hot spring bath was pretty small, but had a unique setting that feels like it's connected to the lighted swamp outside. When someone enters the pool, water will spill out into the swamp below (I believe). The bathing experience was natural and tranquil. You can also walk into the woods around the hotel to experience more of the local nature (though there are a lots of bugs). Overall I think this hotel feels pleasant and is surprisingly cost effective if you skip the dinner.
