This small, boutique hotel is centrally located in Nice, 300 m from hotel Negresco and Avenue des Anglais. The rooms are charming, the beds are comfortable and everything is nice and clean. The staff is very welcoming and polite. They were multilingual and very helpful. We had breakfast (simple, but tasty) in the small garden every morning. We will definitely be back.

The hotel is in a perfect position situated a quick 5 minute walk from Promenade des Anglais and the decor of the rooms can only be described as quirky! A plus and very unusual for France is the addition of a tea tray in the room - a nice touch when staying during the winter months. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and we look forward to staying again when visiting Nice.

We had a wonderful time. The hotel was of its location, very French and delightful, just the place for a short break in the south of France. Location was great, easy to walk everywhere and staff were so friendly and helpful. We will go back!

The Hotel Villa Rivoli was just perfect for us. It dates from the Belle Epoch and has so much charm and character. Every member of staff was so helpful and went out of their way to give, or find out, useful information for us. We had the breakfast option, which was more than ample and unhurried. Hotel location was just off the sea front, near the Musee Massena. Tram stop Alsace-Lorraine was less than 5 minutes walk away, so very easy to get to from the airport. We where in Nice during the Carnival which really added to the whole holiday experience.

Nice older hotel. Previously had been a private residence. Loaded with charm. No elevator, so you get your cardio workout by climbing the stairs. Breakfast is available, or if you prefer, there are restaurants and patisseries within walking distance. Located two blocks from the beach. The staff are very nice and helpful and most speak English.
Response from Property: Dear Mrs. Elizabeth, What a pleasure reading you ! Merci for your very positive review, as well on behalf of the team of the Villa Rivoli. Indeed we don't have an elevator ( we had to choose in between keeping the wonderful staircaise of 1890 or putting a lift instead), but we do have as well rooms on the ground floor, or we can help with the luggage.... Dear Elizabeth, it was really nice having you with us ! Wishing you a wonderful summer, with best regards of Nice, yours, The Villa Rivoli Family

We came to Nice in winter for the fourth time and have finally found the hotel we will come back to next time! The location is good, just a short walk to the seafront, we had a beautifully decorated room of good size and we really liked that it has character and a style. The people were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed breakfast dans la salle. The wifi was not great, that's all.

A lovely boutique hotel with lots of French charm. It’s conveniently located a couple of blocks from the Promenade des Anglais and about a block from Rue de France, which has lots of great restaurants and shopping. The tram and the train station are both a short walk away as well as Gambetta bus stop, which will get you pretty much anywhere in greater Nice and beyond. My daughter and I loved our stay here & highly recommend. Breakfast every morning was delicious. Beds were comfy, bathroom large, air conditioning which was so helpful in the recent heat wave. The staff is very kind and helpful.
Response from Property: Dear Guest, What a pleasure reading you. Many thanks, as well on behalf of our team ! Indeed we are 3 min walk away from the Promenade des Anglais , close to the pedestrian street and all the major points of vue in walking distance. We are happy that you appreciated the quality of our beds ( french company : epedar) as well as the quality of breakfast. Looking very much forward welcoming you soon again, with best regard of Nice, the Villa Rivoli Family

My friend and I stayed at Hotel Villa Rivoli 10 nights during the 2023 Christmas season & both of us loved it. The staff is uniformly kind and helpful – they really want you to enjoy the hotel and Nice. The Hotel Villa Rivoli staff knows the territory & obviously cares about their guests. It’s a small hotel experience that you simply can’t get in a modern rental unit/Air B&B. What could be better than the smell of freshly baked croissants? Les petits déjeuners (breakfasts) were memorable, and the staff is happy to prepare a hard or soft-boiled egg to accompany the buffet of meats, cheese, cereals and fruit. Breakfast is served in a special breakfast area adjacent to the sitting room with the fireplace. There’s a garden just outside. The hotel is very well-located & it's safe to walk around both day and evening. Hotel Villa Rivoli is close to the shopping district, only a few blocks away from the Promenade des Anglais, and about a 10–12-minute walk to the train station. Monaco & Cannes are a short train ride away. A few cultural tips: the hotel is a block and a half away from a charming old movie theater that shows a variety of artsy films in various languages. It’s within walking distance of the Old Nice Opera, which offers world-class performances (tickets can be purchased in advance, online, from anywhere). One consideration for those who are noise sensitive: this hotel was formerly an old home and the rooms are not sound-proof. We didn’t have an issue with this because our neighbors were considerate. The rooms are very nicely appointed and immaculately clean. We would be completely delighted to stay at Hotel Villa Rivoli again.

We really loved staying in this beautiful Belle epoque house a short walk from the Promenade des Anglais in a wonderful old neighbourhood packed full of similar houses reminiscent of the grand old days of Nice! We are very interested in art and architecture and this was our perfect holiday. The walls were decorated in a lovely toile fabric. Comfortable bed. Neat, clean, tidy. Had a kettle in the room so we were able to have tea which was important to us. The room was just warm enough. Pleasant and friendly staff. Would absolutely stay there again. It felt like a home away from home. I felt I was back in the 1920's and didn't want to leave ! That has never happened anywhere else, even in Paris. Thank you so much xx

A sweet hotel with very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Room was on the small side, but fine for our 2 day stay. Close to the tram link to the airport, and to the beach too. Decour a little on the tired side, but this did not detract from our enjoyment. Would book this hotel again in the future.

This hotel has French charm and style. The room was comfortable and the staff very helpful. Nice is a great city break, with the beach, market, harbour, old town, galleries, and numerous bars and restaurants. Despite some wet weather, we had a great stay.

Our experience with this hotel was unfortunately nothing but disappointing - and 4 days shorter than planned. When we checked in, we were met by a very humble and seemingly concerned receptionist, who was able to tell us that we had been allocated a room in the basement. They apologized, and tried to tell us that they had no other rooms to offer us (without us even asking, which should say something about how bad the staff KNOW these rooms are.) The basement room is small , low under the ceiling, smells of mold, and is FULL of cobwebs on the brick walls. What still worried me most was no possible escape route if the door to the hallway had been blocked. The windows could only be partially opened, and were blocked by bars on the outside. In other words, an extremely claustrophobic room without any kind of daylight, and a lot of noise from the street that we got straight into our ears. It's amazing that this hotel even uses this floor below ground for hotel rooms for paying guests, when it shouldn't be used for anything other than storage. The hotel otherwise looks good enough from the pictures, and the staff are pleasant and humble. In any case, this was an incredibly disappointing start to our honeymoon, but luckily we managed to find an okay Airbnb to stay in for the remaining days.

First, the upsides. The hotel itself is in a classically beautiful building. Surrounded by numerous cafes and boulangeries, it is just two short blocks from the tram stop, and within a few blocks of the beach. The staff is friendly, helpful and accommodating. However, the room we were in -- "tradition," the mid-size option -- was tiny by almost any standard. Barely enough room to move around. The bathroom and shower reminded me of the spaces on sailboats, which are cramped by necessity. The walls are paper thin. We could hear conversations and water running in adjacent rooms. Vehicle noise from the street was considerable and more or less constant. The garden, unfortunately, was a haven for mosquitos more so than people. We sat there for five minutes and were forced to leave.
