The Station Hotel

I do not normally write reviews, but wanted to warn you. Smelled of mold the moment I walked in through the front door. My “deluxe double room” was a single bed & a room so small I had to take my suitcase into the bathroom to open it. Bathroom had stains from leaks in ceiling, shampoo & body wash containers in shower were empty. Lots of dead bugs in bathroom. Light fixture in bathroom had been half removed, so no place to put a bulb. Fire escape lights flashing all night. Fire safety doors propped open with dirty dumbbell weights,. No one in reception. Stained carpet. Wifi did not work. Electric kettle was full of calcium deposits. It was so bad I moved after one night! On a plus side - it is close to the station. The tap water tasted terrific and the smell of mold was replace by the smell of burnt food. DO NOT STAY HERE. The Marlborough hotel just behind the station is SO much better.

Stayed for 2 days. Room clean. Owner let us stay in staff car park so no parking charges. As hotel wasn’t busy she said we could check out whenever so no rush to get out on the last day. Centrally located so ideal for going out without the need to drive

Amazing big rooms and nice size beds . i did have a problom with the rooms but the staff soon sorted it all out. so if any prombloms they dont mind helping at all ring bell in reception area nice location too

The pillows are amazing. Fluffy towels, great experience The host was great with communication, everything went like a dream. Fantastic accommodation ,even the bedroom floors are comfortable . Key availability is 100 %

What a nigh**are. No Room Key No front door key No towels ( apparently they were in the tumble dryer but never turned up) 1 of our rooms wasn’t ready still at 17:00hrs and had to wait No staff on site over night of next morning Absolutely Shocking

Terrible hotel, incompetent staff, dirty rooms that stink of ****, black mould all across rotting wall in room 9. Bedsheets not on bed in room 15, we reported TWICE and still wasn't sorted when we got back and were told to make the bed ourselves. Incredibly loud noise all night above room 3 which sounds like a boiler, didn't get any sleep. Told our other friends room would be ready in a few minutes when we checked in, almost an hour later we managed to pry the key off of them. AVOID THIS HOTEL, IT SIMPLY ISN'T WORTH IT, pay an extra £20 and stay at the premier Inn across the street

I do not recommend anyone stay here. I did not have any bedding or towels here, so I reminded the staff during check in and they said they would get onto it. Later when I returned in the evening there was still no bedding or towels. I complained to the staff and they seemed to make it my problem? After being insulted by the staff they directed me to the laundry closet where I had to get the bedding myself and make my own bed!!! Never in my life have I had to make my own bed in a hotel, it’s the bare minimum to provide a bed ready made. The room was tiny and noisy. It also smelt damp and my friend’s room literally had black mould in it. Do not stay here, I am amazed they are in business with this level of service.

I’m not normally one to write reviews but I feel I would be wrong not to warn people about this horrific experience. My partner stayed with some friends and went out for dinner and drinks and while out, received a message saying there had been a mixup with the rooms so they had to move my partners staff to another room which is fine as a mixup to happen. However, when they got back later that night there were no staff around whatsoever to give them the keys to the new room. They tried calling a mobile number provided but had no answer. Luckily there was a big group of them so one of the others let my partner and his friend share their room, but this is of course led to them having to sleep on the floor. They also had no access to their belongings, including phone, chargers, clothes, and toiletries, among other things. When they got up for breakfast the following day they went to reception however, there was still nobody there they called the number that was provided and someone luckily answered and told them where they could find the keys to access their belongings. -7/10, dreadful experience, absolutely would not recommend staying here under any circumstances.

My husband and I were met with a woman that couldn’t even offer a smile. When we were given a key to our room (which, by the way, it was like a small maze trying to find our room) we were met with the realisation that you, firstly do not have a chain lock of your door, but the basic lock when it is clicked does nothing. If you turn and click the lock you still can just open it, which did not make us feel safe. You can barely fit in the shower, the bed felt like a pile of springs and our room has a large crack running along the ceiling down onto the wall, and had several dead flies scattered around the room. What people do in hotels is their own business, but we could hear that “doing” so clearly through the walls we might as well have been sat in the corner! Not worth it, there’s a premiere inn across the street, pay a bit more and just go there.
