The hotel has old school grandure, set in the heart of the Altstadt. From the ease of parking the car directly behind the hotel, to finding our lovely room on one of the top floors which had a double aspect of the historic centre, the stay was excellent. The room was really very comfortable and it was delightful to sit in bed and see the town below with the pleased aesthetic nature of the Altstadt. The windows were double glazed, so no trouble with noise in the evening. The breakfast was delicious, beautifully laid out and with a very good choice. The lady who served us, Alma was charming and her hard work had not gone unnoticed by myself and my husband. Thank you Alma. Also the front of house gentleman who checked us in was extremely helpful during our entire stay. If you want to explore Nuremberg from a central position and you want comfort in a grand setting, this is a very good choice of hotel. We would definitely return.

Fantastic location, we were able to walk to all the sites in old town including the castle. It is also a quick walk to the train station. Tons of old world charm!

The good is the location is great. Right near the Hauptbahnhof so easy to transit from the airport or regional train lines. It’s a short walk to Hauptmarkt and anywhere in old town up to the north. The breakfast was also good with lots of selection. The bad: the customer service is significantly lacking comparing to other German hotels and cities. I arrived early morning to drop off bags, knowing that you can’t check in until 3. Called someone (male) down to the desk and before any greeting was abruptly questioning why I am trying to check in. I wasn’t, but their site says they offer luggage storage. I go off adventuring and come back at 3 and waited in an armchair. The receptionist (also male) ignored me. I left it about ten minutes as might be busy, no just ignoring me. So I ask to check in. He says he isn’t sure if the room is ready and leaves reception to physically walk upstairs. If you advertise 3, be ready for 3. PM his is one example of how the service was perfunctory and not warm and welcoming and customer focussed like so many other wonderful experiences I’ve had in Germany. Also while the hotel has some charm due to the history of the place, there is a difference between vintage splendour and vintage unkempt. This hotel is the latter. So much potential, but clear they are just trying to make a buck with as little upkeep as possible. Everything is threadbare. Probably wouldn’t stay again, for the price.

Very small room. Noise from the street all night. If you want to sleep at night don't stay there. Also parking is limited and expensive.

Great location! Loved being able to walk for a morning latte in the historic central town. Hotel rooms in front were a bit loud perhaps but it was a Saturday night and there were tons of people out until about 11:00 pm, then it was quiet. Did not bother us at all. Hotel feels historic; breakfast was great! Staff professional and helpful. Loved best sitting out front on comfy chairs, watching people go by and having a beer / glass of wine. Would definitely stay again!

We've been staying at the DK just about every year since 2002 (the pandemic was the only reason for the hiatus). As many other reviewers have already noted, the location simply cannot be beat, the staff are excellent, and it's a clean, safe, comfortable home base for your trip to Nürnberg. However, as I walked down the hall this December it finally occurred to me why we love this place so much... unlike the cookie cutter hotel chains, it literally has its own personality, like an old, trusted, beloved friend. A lot of that is thanks to the friendly and competent staff, but the building itself, the antique decorations, the stone staircase, the quirky alcoves, the exposed sandstone wall blocks, even the lovingly worn tapestries and rugs immediately transport you back to a slower, more civilized era of travel. Although the modern amenities are all here, no one is rushed or stressed out, nothing about the place screams Trendiness! or Now!! Rather, every room, ever hall whispers quiet class, subdued elegance, come and relax and chat for a bit. And as trite as the cliché is, yes... "Old World Charm." There's even a parlor(!) next to the breakfast room where guests can read a newspaper, play the piano, lose themselves in a reverie, or check their smartphones and social media accounts. Trust me, after a day spent exploring the medieval city or an evening in the hustle and bustle of the Christkindlesmarkt, this is a wonderful thing... no matter how old or young you are. Our kids have grown up thinking of the Deutscher Kaiser as "our" hotel. I hope we - and they - will keep returning here every year for the next 40 or more, and I hope very little, if anything, will change about it.

Lovely historic hotel in the heart of old town. 5 minutes from the train station. Great communication with the hotel before and during our stay. Suite 17 was roomy and quiet. Comfortable beds and all amenities you need. No air conditioning, but that was not an issue during our stay. Would definitely stay there again.

Very nice hotel. Lovely staff, especially the man on the front desk. Very, very helpful. Immaculate - spotlessly clean. Historic building. Excellent location in the old town but 3min walk from the station. Comfortable rooms. Would recommend

We stayed at Hotel Deutscher Kaiser for just one night, but were treated well. We arrived around noon and our room wasn't quite ready, as they had a couple staff call in sick. We checked our luggage and toured the local square. Arriving back after an hour and a half, our Hotel Manager upgraded our room to a nice suite. We very much appreciated the kind gesture. He also recommended a very nice Italian restaurant in the area and although we didn't have a reservation, got us in for dinner. The room was well appointed, quiet, and with a nice bed resulting in a great sleep. The breakfast in the morning was a bit less than we experienced on some of our stays this trip, however, the service was good and the food tasty just the same. Highly recommended

A wonderful boutique hotel in a historic property in the middle of the old city. Easy walk to all major attractions and close to the main station.
