We made a decision to upgrade our itinerary right before we left home and I’m so glad we did. The beautiful setting up the mountain from the town of Paro was a respite of complete comfort with an outstanding staff. Khara and Kuenga at the desk were kind and very helpful as was the sweet woman in the gift shop. Jigme, in the restaurant, couldn't be more warm and attentive. I’m sorry I don’t have all of the names of everyone who made us feel so welcomed and cared for. It was hard to beat the incredible meals, the lovely pool, spa and yoga classes. Also, my son thoroughly enjoyed the ability to play archery and darts on property. After hiking during the day, there was nothing like coming back to the peaceful and quiet setting of Uma Como Paro with a staff that went out of their way to care for every need. It was hard to leave!

We had a wonderful stay at the beautiful COMO Uma Paro hotel. The grounds are lovely with the villas spread apart to allow for the utmost privacy. The food was delicious. We highly recommend a hot stone bath followed by their signature massage. Our "butler" Cee-Ring was the best! He took such good care of us, teaching us archery, darts, a celebration dance, delivering dessert and special drinks to our villa, and making sure we had snacks on our hikes. But it was his warm sense of humor that was so special to us. We highly recommend COMO Uma Paro!

We stayed in this charming property on our first night and again during the last leg of our trip. Rooms are cosy with charming views over the valley and rice fields. We looked forward to mealtimes as the food was one of the best we had ever experienced in 3 decades of travel. The chef was accommodating with requests and we sorely missed the fresh and delicious offerings (8 months post stay). We especially enjoyed our interactions with Ms Nidup, who remembered all our dietary preferences (especially my daily banana bread) after just one day. Her cheerful smile was highly infectious. A minor grouse is that the duration of the “introductory lecture” on the country’s charms could have been shorter. While we appreciate the enthusiasm and persnal touch, most newly arrived guests would have been fatigued by the arduous flight(s) and still struggling to get use to the altitude, and sitting through 20-30 min of plesantries would not be on top of their list of priorities.

We spent a long weekend in Como Paro coming from Como Punakha. We are a Spanish couple living in Dubai and we enjoy travelling staying at top hotels around the world. Both Como hotels are amazing, beautiful, mixing traditional architecture with modern finishes inside the rooms. Both locations are beautiful and we got amazing villas in both. Food was very good at both hotels as well! I must say the best thing about both resorts is the people, from the butlers (Dorgi in Paro and Sonam in punakha) took amazing care of us. And our guide C-ring and our driver C-ring did a wonderful job explaining all the history and culture of this amazing country. We would love to come back soon to Bhutan and we will definitely stay again in COMO.

Hotel is centrally located in Paro and close to Paro shopping area and international airport. Reception and hotel staff is very welcoming and polite & extremely humble. House keeping and service is extremely good. Mr. Kailash Rana, F&B Manager and his team was prompt and helpful in serving meals of our choice and liking.

From the moment you are Greeted by the Uma Staff at Paro airport, you know that you have chosen the Right Hotel. You are then driven to Uma, ( mere 10 minute drive) and you realize have arrived in Paradise. From the Welcome, one quickly realized that the Staff , from Top Management down, were sincere people….not Yes Sir, No Sir, but genuine people, really wanting you to feel at home. All speaking excellent English. We were taken to our Amazing Villa, and chilled out after our long journey. The following days, we were driven, with our Guide, to Monasteries, Amazing scenic vantage points, and I could go, on and on. Time flies and our visit to Amazing Bhutan and the Fantastic Uma Como came to an end. We shall return… Thank you Uma for your kindness and care🙏🙏🙏🙏

I chose the 6 day itinerary with COMO hotels, staying at both Como Uma in Paro as well as 2 nights in Como Punakha valley. I still can’t decide which was my favourite. Both have beautiful locations, natural and beautiful rooms and architecture. The staff is wonderful and makes you feel at home as soon as you arrive. The food is delicious and healthy with both local and western food options. The guides and drivers are absolutely fantastic and fun, and the itinerary was made for us to see the best highlights of Bhutan - they are knowledgeable, interesting, attentive and always accomodating little whims and wishes all along the trip. Loved every single day of it! The only little wish I would have, would be for them to increase the Spa spaces and facilities, they have 1-2 treatment rooms so Book ahead for that wonderful massage once you are done with hiking for the day:) I could imagine a little jacuzzi outside with that great view to relax in, and a steam bath or some more real COMO Spa features, that would make it just that little more perfect! I greatly recommend both properties highly!

High quality report that loses a star relative to its fellow high end hotels in Bhutan because the experience while trying to be personal feels more corporate. There’s no “ vibe “. The amenities are there but it feels more like a show. You are offered archery, you don’t witness it. You are on gorgeous grounds but it’s disconnected, like being on a golf course vs “ feeling “ the country you are in. Pros: The villa comes with a butler which is a wow experience and the views are stunning. The hot stone bath was fabulous as was the massage. Con: The bar and dining room had a dullness. And in a serene place as this, perhaps ask guests to restrain from video chats in public spaces.

From the beautifully maintained grounds with the colorful prayer flags in the front, to the organic garden on site used for hotel meals, to the staff who cheerfully accommodated every need or wish, to the beautiful Como villa we stayed in with the beautiful garden views, to the wonderful views out the dining room windows as we enjoyed the fantastic food and wine, to the friendly manager who happened to be the friend of a friend of my traveling partner, but who chatted with and welcomed every guest. I couldn't have asked for anything more! It was so good, we stayed in Bhutan an extra day just to have a little more time to relax at the hotel!

I was lucky enough to receive an upgrade to a villa with private butler - such an amazing surprise and an fantastic experience for my last two nights in Bhutan. Special shout out to my butler for amazing service and all staff were warm, welcoming and helpful. Accommodation is brilliant - love the Como Shambhala toiletries, slept really well, love the bath salts. The food choices and tastes are outstanding. I had a signature massage, which was great. Look forward to returning.

Speechless is what I am as there are truly no words to describe our three days at Uma Paro under the gentle and delightful watch of James Low who, although the General Manager, is so much more than that. He is the essence of the hotel and has been so for almost 10 years. And then there is Dorji, his right hand person, who epitomizes the warm embrace of her country. My wife and I thought we were only going to Bhutan because of the Tiger’s Nest. OMG, we couldn’t be more wrong. The Tiger’s Nest is only one part of a transformative package. Coupled with our guide, Subash and driver Dawa, our time spent in the country and at Uma Paro and Uma Punakha will hopefully be repeated soon with more of our friends who wondered why the H we were going in the first place. Although we did not meet the Head Chef who, like James, also oversees Uma’s sister property (Uma Punakha), she is in a class of her own. As you can tell, I believe the people of Uma Paro, the property itself, and the execution of the vision are without peer and I say this after being more than an incidental traveller. Good on everyone involved. It’s hard to believe that a mildly jaded and disappointed traveller like myself could be so transfixed by everything - every experience, every embrace, every taste, every breath of air that Bhutan and the Uma Paro hotels in Paro & Punakha offer. I return to my tag line ….. I am humbled.

The Uma, Paro, was as exceptional as the Uma Punakha but with a difference. The Uma Punakha had the views, the Uma Paro has the luscious, green parkland setting with amazing wildlife walking around your villas. I stayed at the Como Villa, as well as one of the rooms in the main building. Everything was just as you would expect from a luxury hotel. Delightful, friendly, helpful staff. Excellent food. There is even a large vegetable garden which they grow and then cook their own produce. It's impossible to single out staff members. The General Manager James, really treated you like an old friend - and I saw this with every guest. He really is the icing on the cake of the Como group in Bhutan. But then all of the reception staff, the waiters and waitresses in the restaurant, the head of food and beverages... I don't know where to start. I didn't stay long enough to try the spa treatments, despite my villa having a dedicated treatment room. But I have no doubt these are excellent. It's a short drive to the town centre by taxi - and there are no equivalent hotels nearer the town than this. So definitely don't be put off that it takes 10 minutes to get into town. Absolutely a highlight of my trip to Bhutan.
