Great location but this “five star hotel” was all show no substance. Breakfast consists of cheap self service coffee machines paltry racks of dried bread and lukewarm scrambled eggs in le cruset pots, and no service whatsoever. The room is spacious but has a wonky clap board four poster bed and the cheap noise insulation windows means the bar sounds below the hotel could be heard all night long. Bed linen was very premium and comfortable, turndown service was nice. Moldy smells in the hallways coupled with industrial paint smells from the recent renovation to the room makes one think of health code violations. Front desk staff seemed aloof and insincere. The doormen were the only staff that were really friendly and genuine. Come and have a peek of the beautiful lobby and stay at one of the many 5 star hotels nearby. This hotel truly was a disappointment.

Very nice hotel with gorgeous decoration and thoughtful service. Chocolates are delivered every night. The disadvantage is that the room is a bit small

In the center of the old town, you can basically go to any tourist attraction within one kilometer. It is very friendly to traveling bosozokus. There is nothing to say about the interior of the hotel. It is almost the same style as Lello Bookstore. Harry Potter is enough. The elevators and guest rooms are a bit Budapest. It feels like a big hotel. The air-conditioning panel in the room is actually touch-screen. It’s very magical~ The service is also good. After arriving, it’s easier to sit and check in. The check-in time is not stuck. There is also a welcome drink. I usually choose the special one. Port wine, and someone knocks on the door every night to deliver chocolates. Maybe the only bad thing is the small alleys on both sides of the hotel, which are basically tobacco shops and bars. Young people gather there at night and make noise, which will probably last until after 2 o'clock. The second floor is being renovated during the stay, which is quite disturbing. Visit the public area on the second floor. If you like retro, you can really try this hotel.

Lovely hotel. Very convenient for Porto city centre. Staff all very helpful. Our only problem was that they were renovating the third floor and we were in the fourth. There was a heavy solvent smell which became very bad on our last day. It was so noxious that we were worried about safety. There were no spare rooms lower down so we moved out and had a refund for the last night.

This elegant hotel is from the old world. Service is old fashioned and personal. The rooms are gorgeous and well appointed. Be sure to get off the elevator on the first floor and descend down the elegant staircase. You'll feel like you are walking down in an old 40's movie.

This is a beautiful hotel in an excellent location. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. The only reason I have not given the fill five stars was because the refurbishment overran during my stay and for one night the smell of fresh paint was terrible. However, the next day the issue was overcome and I had a wonderful experience staying at the hotel.

Best hotel if our 23-day tour thru Spain, Morocco and Portugal. Attentive staff, beautiful Libby/rooms, amazing Valentine dinner and included breakfast. Excellent value!

We had such high expectations for the hotel, since the majority of reviews were fabulous. But we found a hotel under renovation, with constant noise in our rooms, with poor service and zero attention to detail. Although, the hotel itself and its quarters are fabulous and do transport us back to the golden age, the lack of attentive service and warmth from the staff did impact our overall experience. The most disappointing part was the breakfast, which was pretty limited, with poor selection of fruits, hot dishes and pastries, as well as low quality ingredients - mostly, the coffee, which was self-serviced from machines, which I find unacceptable for a five star hotel. The location is pretty good, though, within a walking distance to the major attractions! However, i wouldn’t stay there again.

The hotel is stunning and the staff lovely. The reason there is no 5th star is that the new owner of just 9 months is rude, inelegant, and most of all, lacks all nuance and love of a good Hospitalitarian. This 5 star hotel will not survive without a true Hospitality Leader at its Core and Helm.

Exceptional! They had a cheese spread and wine waiting for us. The staff was so kind and helpful with all our questions. Best hotel my family has ever stayed at. Best memories made in Porto mostly due to the stay at the hotel.

This is a lovely old-school Grand Hotel, and they are refurnishing it, but as always, not for the better. The room service is terrible. On the side of the hotel where I stayed, I heard drunk people screaming all night. The breakfast is average at best. I would skip it for many good options five minutes away.

A lovely hotel at a great location. We were told in advance that renovations were under way and that we would be given a room far from the noise. However, our room was in the 3 floor, very close to the noise, and work continued on Saturday.
