Grand Hyatt Shenzhou Peninsula

Everything about the Grand Hyatt Wanning is great, I'd love to come back! The full ocean view suite was amazing, truly a vacation 🏖️. Watching the ocean from the balcony was quiet, comfortable, and very chill. We didn't even need to leave for two nights; the hotel has four restaurants, and both breakfast spots were delicious.

First time vacationing in Wanning ⛱️, and the Grand Hyatt definitely lives up to its five-star reputation. We stayed in a triple room which was spacious and comfortable, and the staff were very patient and helpful.

I gave it a 5-star rating, though I originally wanted to give 0 stars, or even a negative rating and tell them to get lost. All 5 stars belong entirely to the hotel staff and the restaurant. First of all, the food at the restaurant was genuinely amazing. Both the Chinese and Western dishes were exceptionally well-prepared—truly standing out compared to other hotels I've stayed at, which is really saying something for Sanya, a place overflowing with seafood 👍 The hotel staff were also super nice. Even though I knew they were working overtime during the National Day holiday, both the front desk and the shuttle drivers were extremely patient~ Finally, the reason for the negative rating: We booked a two-leg stay. The first leg was for right before the holiday, but due to a family member's work and a sudden change in our itinerary, we temporarily switched to Sanya as our stopover. At noon the day before departure, we contacted the hotel to coordinate a check-out/cancellation, but by 8 PM we still had no answer, with them claiming they were "communicating with the group headquarters" and that off-duty time had already begun. At the very same time, friends of ours were also trying to coordinate a cancellation for their booking in Wanning, but theirs was resolved quickly and fully refunded. The end result was that we weren't told until we had already landed in Hainan the next day that a full refund was impossible, and they deducted 80% of the cost for the first leg of our trip. I understand cancellation policies, but I completely disagree with the arrogant attitude of this hotel group, and I will never stay at any of their properties again.

Facilities: The hotel is very new and spans a vast area, with winding paths leading to secluded spots. The courtyard of the rooms is beautiful. Cleanliness: Very clean, spotless. Service: Very enthusiastic and responsive to all kinds of requests. The front desk staff (Hao Bo) was excellent, and the service was on point.

This was the worst Grand Hyatt I've ever stayed at. Over 2000 yuan a night was absolutely not worth the price. From check-in: The day before, they called to ask what time I'd arrive, and I said around noon. The hotel said the room would be ready by 1 PM. The next day, I checked out early from another hotel and arrived promptly at 1 PM, only to be told by the front desk that the room wasn't ready and I'd have to wait two to three hours! I expressed my disagreement, and a girl with braids at the front desk unhappily said there were no rooms. Then, a man came over and suggested giving me a room that had just been re-caulked. Excuse me?! Am I supposed to smell caulk?! After some more fumbling, they eventually gave me a room on the first floor. Regarding management: There was absolutely no management to speak of. The hotel has a gate near the beach, and anyone can just walk in. There's no security checking if people are hotel guests. Forget about privacy, there's no guarantee of safety. Plus, outsiders were coming in to find changing rooms and freely using the hotel's pool! Breakfast: It's divided into two restaurants, Chinese and Western, and you can only choose one. The Western restaurant was super small, with just some bread and ham. I don't know who came up with such a strange arrangement. Hygiene: Eating at the buffet on the lawn in the evening, the cups felt like they hadn't been washed at all – sticky to the touch. And then check-out: I waited a few minutes and no one paid attention to me. Then, someone rushed over, took my room card, and only then did I leave. Not to mention any farewell gifts. Overall, neither the price nor the service lived up to the brand. I will never stay at a Hyatt property again.

After a lot of online comparisons, I looked at many hotels and finally chose the Grand Hyatt Shenzhou Peninsula. We stayed for three nights, and both the adults and children were incredibly happy and loved it. The entire hotel has a strong Southeast Asian style, with all villa buildings (there's a shuttle service within the hotel for convenient transport). As soon as you enter, the vacation vibe hits you. The entrance pathway especially reminded me of the W Hotel in Bali – it's hard not to like it. The hotel's breakfast is incredibly rich, offering both Chinese and Western options, and served until 10:45 AM, which is very friendly for those who struggle to wake up early. All the hotel staff are exceptionally polite and have excellent service attitudes. Additionally, the hotel has indoor and outdoor swimming pools, though the kids preferred swimming outdoors. In the evenings, there's live music, and swimming while listening to songs is truly wonderful. The beach is right across the road from the hotel, and I personally think it's better than the Westin's beach. About 100 meters to the right of the hotel entrance is Alamauna Town, which is very convenient for dining, though the prices are comparable to Shanghai – not cheap, but still a joy to try local delicacies. It's also very convenient to get to Xinglong Town and Dong'ao Town from the hotel. Choosing the Grand Hyatt definitely won't disappoint.

Snowy was incredibly sincere in helping us arrange an excellent room, and her attitude was wonderfully warm and attentive – she genuinely cared about her guests. She did her best to meet our needs within reason, unlike some hotels (like Indigo, in my experience) that might brush you off, claiming they lack the authority, even when there are plenty of empty rooms. Grand Hyatt made both my elderly parents and my children incredibly happy; they kept saying, 'This hotel is so much better!' and 'This is better than the last one!' We borrowed a wheelchair, but it wasn't even needed as the shuttle service was so convenient. When I accidentally broke a cup, I contacted Snowy, and she not only waived the compensation but also told me to be careful not to get hurt. During our stay, she frequently checked in on our needs and took great care of us. Every staff member was enthusiastic, making our vacation feel truly complete! The room was very new and spotless! Grand Hyatt will definitely be our first choice next time we visit Wanning.

Our final stop on our Hainan trip was Wanning, where we stayed at the Grand Hyatt Shenzhou Peninsula. Before we even arrived, our butler, Cherry, learned that we were on our honeymoon and that it was also my birthday. She proactively upgraded us to a first-row ocean view suite. During check-in, the only welcome amenities left were a luggage tag and a coloring book. Since we weren't really interested in either, we asked Cherry if she could arrange for a beach bag instead, which she did. She also swapped out the drinks in the mini-bar that we didn't like for ones we preferred. The night before check-out, she even sent up two large coconuts for us! We're so grateful for Cherry's care and attention over these two days. We highly recommend asking for Cherry if you stay at the Grand Hyatt in the future!

Grand Hyatt is fantastic! The room space and layout are super comfortable, and the environment is very relaxing. The service, facilities, and activities are all excellent. I'll definitely be back. The breakfast was rich and delicious; both the elderly and children loved it! Cherry's service was attentive and warm, answering all our questions. I'll choose to stay here again next time and have already recommended it to my friends!
