Think the luxury factory at this hotel has gone down - for the price range a quaint agriturismo would have been better!

This hotel is a destination. Luscious and well kept grounds. Many beautiful areas to sit and relax. stunning bar. The whole place is like a Sardinian ethnography museum set in a flower garden. That said, this is not a five-star hotel, so measure your expectations. If your need the latest upgraded bathroom, this place is not for you. But if you are looking for stunning views, incredible gardens, flowers galore, and authenticity, this is your place. I've stayed in some very fine hotels over the world, including 5-star hotels in Paris but I'll take this place over them any time and hope to be back some time. Highly recommended for people who love arts and authenticity.

My husband and I stayed three nights and had a fantastic experience! The hotel and grounds are beautifully situated near the Supramonte and filled with gorgeous flowers and décor. It was quiet and peaceful. The hospitality was very friendly and accommodating. Our room was comfortable and spacious. We utilized the tub and terrace each day. The food was delicious. We felt there were many options for food/drink, and also many areas to sit and relax. Our only feedback is there was a large bus tour group also staying at the hotel during our visit and they were noisy. This is not a reflection of the staff or hotel, but think visitors would appreciate limiting large groups to maintain the exclusivity and quiet nature of the hotel. We will definitely recommend this hotel and consider staying here again on a future trip!

It was a very rustic place! Flowers were beautiful! When we booked this the pictures were beautiful! We arrived and were very disappointed in the room and what it should have been like. We had soaking tub instead of a hot tub outdoors. This was the most expensive room of our trip and sure didn’t compare to all our other hotels we went to. Dining was another experience breakfast began at 8:00 am and everyone rushed in. I felt bad for the servers. We had the same experience for dinner everyone came at one time. That was our second night. Our first night we had a fabulous dinner outdoors in this beautiful environment! This was on the grounds. This lovely lady owned the venue and her daughter also worked there with other severs. She came around to all the tables to see how everything was. Several times. We were very impressed. Every part of this experience was elegant! At the end of the night she said there was a surprise. We went through these doors and there were young Sardinian men singing in a circle. They had beautiful voices. We were told that there aren’t too many of them left doing this. We listened while having dessert. This was an amazing experience!

After watching the series about “Blue Zone” Live up to 100 on Netflix, I decided to visit Sardania. When I was planning about this trip, I can across this hotel, and I must tell you, it was a lifetime experience. Simple hotel, but extraordinary service, food, activities. I must thank the owner Giovanna, whom you can see everywhere in kitchen, in reception, in housekeeping, in maintenance, she takes care of everything personally. There is beautiful art gallery of Giovanna herself, from where I bought some art. Gabriella and Margharita were excellent at reception, who helped me planning my 6 days itinerary. Margharita’s English was excellent which we rarely get to see in Italy. She is also well learned girl. Food was amazing, very local and tasty.

Beautiful location. Funky design. As in if Club Med married a hippie commune. Hotel needs to be redesigned and renovated to meet most guest expectations. Streamline, simplify and reduce the number of rooms from 70 to perhaps 24? The swimming pool was the hotel’s best feature. Large and long, gets great light all day. Again, beautiful location but needs a redo.

The hotel is unique for sure and you can read all that on other reviews. Maybe because it was off season… not as many experiences available. Dinner in the restaurant was just ok. Staff was not that friendly except for the front desk who doubled as check in check out and booked Tours. There did not seem to be a dedicated concierge desk. This place is popular with the active senior crowd.

This place is a really magical rustic resort. It's built into the hillside, every nook and cranny has been designed. It feels as though you are in a tiny art village. The owner has added her artist touch to the hotel. Each room is dedicated to a different artist and no two are alike. You can feel the Sardinian culture and they offer many opportunities for experiences to dive deeper into the local culture. We were able to hike in the valley and have lunch with a local Shepard, and learn how to make pasta. They offer a number of dining options and the food was incredible! The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

We stayed here for two nights and we wished it could have been more. The property and the grounds are very attractive. Sardinian art is displayed all through out the hotel. Our room was not big, but comfortable and we had a small balcony. There are multiple common areas to congregate or just relax. We loved the rooftop bar with nice countryside and mountain views. The hotel must of have been built in phases, as there are a number of different buildings, so it was a bit confusing to navigate. We also ate both nights in the hotel restaurant and the food was exceptional. There were plenty of traditional Sardinian dishes on the menu. The breakfasts were also good.

Stayed for three nights in one of the cottages near the art shop. Our room was spacious, well equipped and even had an outdoor bath in our little garden. The decor was tastefully Sardinian and had coffee and tea facilities. We ate all three nights in the hotel, the first night in the “Bread Nest” where our tasting menu was prepared and cooked by two ladies using a wood fired oven. All courses had a bread base and were delicious. We ate in the main restaurant the second night and had the amazing suckling pig. On our last night we tried the vegetarian tasting menu sat in the vegetable garden. During both tasting menu nights the food just kept coming and a carafe of wine and bottles of water were included. All of our meals were very good value for money. Breakfast was ample with plenty of choice. The pool area was very pleasant to relax in and has a bar area close by. The Magico Tablao bar was very stylish, had a great atmosphere and served amazing cocktails and also three different excellent craft beers ( bottled). All staff were friendly helpful and professional. It is worth just wandering around the hotel to see all the different areas where works of art have been tastefully placed. We could find no fault with hotel at all and would thoroughly recommend it.

This is not your average hotel by any means. It is really a hotel for art lovers who enjoy exploring a wonderfully quirky property full of lovely nooks and crannies which you'll find beautiful art, furniture and crafts. There are little hidden corners all over the property. We stayed for four nights and I don't think we quite finished snooping around. Even through there are quite a few rooms, it never feels crowded because it's so spread out and people are all doing their own thing. It's wonderfully located both for exploring the coast and doing amazing hikes and things in the region (I highly recommend Su Gorropu gorge. We hiked down, clambered around on the big rocks and then hiked back up (which was a bit too much (5 hours) but lots of fun!). The hotel sets up very reasonably priced excursions such as the Tiscali hike or the boat trip to Cala Gonone caves and beaches. I would book early and do as much as possible. The region is very rich and there is a lot to explore. Our room was lovely - we opted for a room with a view - the Junior Suite Deluxe - which was quite nice - the rooms are all different here so it's hard to know exactly what your room will look like. It was quiet with a lovely view over the valley. It was not overly luxurious in the traditional sense of the word but absolutely beautiful and full of art and gorgeous antiques. I wanted to buy up everything in it. We did the Bread making dinner experience which was really quite amusing. We were there when a group of Ferrari-driving racecar tourism people were there so they were enjoying the bread making dinner as well which meant we couldn't actually see the bread making. (Make sure you ask for a table where you can see what is going on). Anyway, we just went with it and ended up having a wonderful time and a glutenicious meal. There is a beautiful boutique which is very tempting and a lovely terrace for cocktails before dinner. The dinner in the regular restaurant was pretty good, nothing to write home about and we drove into Nuoro one night for an excellent meal at il Rifugio. There are some resident cats on property and one had just had a litter of 5 kittens who were absolutely adorable and kept everyone entertained. (It was all we could do not to adopt one). The staff is wonderful and very responsive about questions for activities and things (especially Gabriella). It's really a great hotel for people who like to discover and stay active. That said, the pool is lovely and plenty of people were having drinks and just hanging out there as well. We would definitely go back. It's really a destination type place, not a typical resort though, so do not expect that!

I want to live here. I have visited some spectacular places in my life and this might be my #1. Remote, rustic, charming, stunningly beautiful, relaxing and pretty much the definition of "lovely", Su Gologone is heaven on earth. My husband is from Sardinia (we live in the US) and booked a full week for us here on our last visit to the island, knowing I needed a real escape and complete break from work, and it's the perfect place for that. We spent a lot of time just relaxing on the property – lounging by the pool, chilling on mountain view decks, and indulging in some of the best food I've ever had in my life. (If you go and it's on the main restaurant menu, get the raviolini finochietta. Best meal of my life. Promise.) We also spent time exploring the region which, for me is the best of both worlds with mountains and beaches. We had a rental car (that we picked up after landing in Cagliari) and gorgeous beaches were only 30-45 minute drive from the hotel. Surrounding towns were 15-30 minute drives and definitely worth exploring to enjoy the culture and slower pace of life. One of the coolest things I realized when we left and headed back to the city is that I didn't see a stoplight for a week. Can you believe that? Amazing. Also amazing are the hotel staff. The level of care, attention and friendliness is top notch. You can tell it's a family-owned operation because that's how we felt while we were there – like we were staying with family. It just feels like you're in a truly special place so, yes, Su Gologone is a 10 out 10 for me.

We were travelling around Sardinia with friends &, due to reviews, decided to base ourselves here for 4 nights. We knew after 1 that we couldn’t stay that long. We had booked a promo offer of stay 4 pay 3 (nights) which was not refundable but to their credit they refunded some but not all. The property is tired, old, unkept & dirty. Given we stayed at the beginning of the season it’s strange they didn’t take the off-season to clean it up. We walk around the hotel & we’re told several time NOT to take photos in certain areas. Our rooms were upgraded but were poor; the bathroom had no window nor did it have a exhaust fan. The shower was in the bath which is fine, but there was no shower screen, no overhead shower shower just a hand shower which is also fine except the fitting the handle sent into was broken & coming off the wall. The facia of the bath was also coming off & exposed all the underside of the bath. The room was dusty, dirty & dank. The bed was old & on the soft side. There was also a large wedding on when we were there so it was crowded, noisy, smokey with lots of kids running around & shouting screaming. We heard good things about the restaurant but the smells emanating from the dining room put us off. Breakfast was comprehensive enough but the staff were snarly if you dared asked for something. When checked out I showed some photos to the front office staff & Bastiano got extremely aggressive & was quite offensive. Other front office staff were fine. I’m not sure if we’d just copped a bad stay, which happens but couldn’t get out of there quickly enough. It’s a shame as they were extremely accommodating at the time we made the booking, perhaps they should have advised us of the event (wedding) that was on then but it was more about the place being run-down, dirty, dusty & dank that led to us leaving 2 nights early. Maybe future guests will have better luck but I can recommend the Su Gologone Experience Hotel if/when you visit Sardinia.

I cannot imagine why anyone would rate this hotel low. It is absolutely stunning, in the most incredible location, staff so friendly, excellent food, a brilliant pool and the most magical bar! I can only imagine some people think they're booking the Four Seasons or the Ritz. This is not a super duper shiny hotel with 7 stars and butlers. But what it is is an incredibly beautiful, authentic property that celebrates Sardinian culture, sustainability and amazing views. I have travelled all over the world and this is one of the best places I have been. It is luxuriously rustic and I would love to go back one day.
