We as a couple had never before visited Sidari, so we went along with friends who have visited many times. Our base was Stemma Hotel, and on arrival we were greeted very warmly by Paula, and instantly felt at home. Once checked in, we were shown to our room, which was upstairs and friends were allocated in a ground floor room very close by. Very impressed by the size of the rooms and also how spotlessly clean everywhere was. Except for a couple of occasions, we always had plenty of hot water for a shower. The kitchen area was well set out, and although the most we used was the kettle, it would have been fine to prepare a meal of sorts if needed. Was nice to have a full size fridge with a freezer compartment. The hotel sells packs of 6 x 1.5 ltr bottles water at very reasonable cost, and we found this very handy as no having to lug around heavy bottles water from supermarket to the Stemma. The Hotel sits down a lane that’s accessible from both sides, so it’s really quiet which we found was a definite plus, but within a few mins you are down by the sea, and the nearest supermarket (they sell huge freshly baked cakes and pastries and are a delight) and also El Greco and Cappriccio are 2 fantastic restaurants at bottom of lane. Within easy walking to the “*****” too. We were taken aback by just how friendly everyone is at the Stemma, it’s a very well run Hotel, and has staff that are so obviously happy to be part of the working of it. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone, they are more than willing to help ensure your holiday is the most enjoyable it can be. The breakfast is very basic with limited choice, so we only ate at Hotel breakfast time 3 or 4 times in our 10 night stay, but must say the food you order from the bar menu at lunch or dinner time is absolutely divine! Very large portions and so deliciously tasty 😋 and very reasonably priced. The pool area at Hotel has more than enough sun beds, which are spaced out around both the large adult and the smaller kiddies pool, and also plenty of umbrella’s. The pool itself is very well maintained, and clean and while we were there beginning of September it was generally very quiet as most holidaymakers seemed to just want to sunbathe for the most part. One point to note: if anyone has room 110 we hope you don’t have same encounter that we had one early morning (before 6am) got woken up to what we initially thought was a fire alarm but soon realised it wasn’t! Such a shrill loud squawking noise, we hunted everywhere to find where it was coming from, was so loud I was sure it would wake the whole block up! Hubby went outside to see if it was originating from there, opened windows, shut windows, shook curtains, opened cupboard doors etc - was driving us crazy as just wasnt able to locate the unrelenting noise. As a last resort I decided to turn kitchen tap on to see if the noise would make it shut up and weyhey it stopped!! It was then, after a good half hour we realised the creature that was
