AI Summary
An AI-summarized snapshot of real guest reviews
Augill Castle boasts comfortable, cozy rooms with luxurious bedding, a well-maintained old castle with amenities like a play area and tennis courts, and stunning views. However, it's considered overpriced with small portions and poor value for money.

Attentive & friendly staff. Three wonderful fireplaces to sit & read by while the rain passes. We had the pleasure to enjoy a well planned out NYE celebration. Super comfortable beds. Location was perfect for a country side retreat. Nearby are breathtaking hikes, historical landmarks and waterfalls.

Went to Augill Castle for afternoon tea and I have to say it was superb. The place is unique in its interior and decor & you are made to feel really welcome. The matre de was extremely friendly, helpful and attentive, asking if we wanted more tea etc. The hotel has 15 rooms & caters for weddings etc & it would be a great venue 👍. All in all a really lovely place to enjoy afternoon tea & you can stay if you want, also the restaurant menu looks superb 👍

Spent a great long weekend to celebrate a special birthday. Great location, authentic castle interior and a wonderful team to look after us. Nothing was too much trouble, special call out to the lovely Jude. His friendly and attentive attitude immediately made us welcome and helped us celebrate in style. Will definitely return again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our family stay at Augill. This was our second trip to the castle, and hopefully we will be able to return again in the future! The breakfast each morning was great, as were the afternoon tea and dinner options. They were very accommodating to our needs, and we were extremely comfortable in the pleasant surroundings. You can't go wrong with any of the rooms here.

The castle was all that it should have been. Quaint yet majestic. I loved the details. Our room had a fabulous fire place and great tub- perfect for a windy, winter night. The food was great and the hosts visible enough to meet our needs yet not intrusive. We will be back in better weather to enjoy the stunning grounds.

We had a voucher to use with four days to go and hadn’t really wanted to drive the 50 miles to Augill Castle in winter but it happened to be a glorious snowy afternoon for the scenic trip into the Pennines. Our afternoon tea was delicious which was more savoury than the norm and with Chris**asy touches. eg. Turkey and stuffing brioche; Pigs in blankets; Baby Chris**as puddings with brandy sauce and much more together with excellent coffee all served by a roaring fire in the beautiful lounge. We hope to go again in the summer. Many thanks must go to the welcoming Jude 🙏.

We arrived and were met by Jude who was very friendly and helpful. He showed us to our room and gave us all the information we needed for our stay. The bedroom was a little dark (the weather didn't help) but was utterly charming. The four poster bed was very comfortable too. There were tea and coffee making facilities. With a good selection of both to chose from. The bathroom was immaculate and had an impressive free standing bathe with an integrated shower, so no good for someone who had mobility issues. Our evening meals were very tasty. We had a predinner drink in the bar and post dinner drinks in the lounge in front of a roaring fire. A lovely night. We've been to quite a number of castle hotels and this one while not large is up there with any.

What a charming place, as we drove through the trees there it was stunning. A romantic stay, rooms are beautiful, everything we needed was provided, breakfast was superb and didn't disappoint. Staff were all lovely and welcoming, the guy behind the bar on our last night, they are lucky to have him, he was so funny and down to earth, we had a great night laughing with him, we look forward to staying there again, we will find out when he is on shift and pick them dates. Thankyou all at Augill Castle for a wonderful stay.

Recently visited for afternoon tea for my mums birthday. Wonderful building. We had our afternoon tea in the lounge. On arrival into the lounge there two other couples and the room was in silence, so when us 3 came in and started chatting I felt a little uncomfortable that there there only us talking and no background noise. However saying that both couples soon left. The afternoon tea itself was ok, one choice of sandwich each, warm scones, warm apple turnovers fresh from the oven, cake and a pan a cottta/posset type desserts. Coffee was nice and hot. We asked the waitress for a wine list, and she said she would be back in 5 minutes to take our order that never happened so we went to find her. Asked her for a bottle of champagne, she didn’t know to open, looked rather scared of it - so just passed the bucket with champagne to my dad so he opened it - I personally think isn’t great and we shouldn’t have to open our own champagne
