We picked this hotel based on the excellent past reviews. Unfortunately we got the last room which was small and a few meters from the railway. Every time the train goes by (starting very early in the morning) the room shakes as if an earthquake is coming. Add the noise from the train and the nearby church bells going off until late at night and you will get the perfect sleepless night. The photo shows rooms that face away from the railway and I have to assume most rooms are like that, but I cannot comment on those rooms. My suggestion to the owners is to cancel any room facing the railways or warn the visitors beforehand (namely at the time of making the reservation). The breakfast area was very nice and the area beautiful although relatively hard to reach from Locarno without a car.

A Nice place to be in the middle of Tegna near the typical train station! The owner and his wife are unique persons, very kind and focussed on Service and your well being in the hotel! Rooms are clean and very nice and for our stay for business purposes, it has been a top location to be. Between Locarno & Verscio, with a nice way to go for a swim 5’ away in a very nice scenery! We all recommend.

A beautiful Garni hotel in Tegna. Loving hospitality from Alexandra+Paolo Zanga. Friendly staff -- nice rooms -- nice garden --- train station next to the hotel. Hiking......swimming.....or shopping + much more...are possible here. Thanks. 🌞💗 Gladly again 💗 Susanna + Bruno

The Charmehotel Barbate is a small, family-run hotel opposite the Tegna train station, a few km above Locarno, very easy and climate-friendly to reach with the Centovallibahn. Rich breakfast buffet, modern, clean, spacious rooms, at a fair price for Ticino standards. But the best thing is the hospitality of the owners, Mr. and Mrs. Zanga. We have never been received so well anywhere. The only B minor: the nearby bell tower and its bell - in the morning 6:30 30 (!) chimes. Nevertheless: thank you very much, dear Zanga family, we will be back, to the Charme Hotel Barbate in the spectacular Centovalli!

PLUS: Quiet garni hotel with parking facilities; Rich breakfast buffet, also with own products; very hospitable family that takes care of everything; beautiful and modern furnished room with air conditioning, very good sleeping comfort; Spacious shower/toilet, MINUS: Bed on the ground floor only 1.60 m wide, but still comfortable. TIPS: For excursions (including public transport) ask at reception, as well as for restaurants in the immediate vicinity for lunch/dinner.
