This review is about a stay that didn't happen. My husband and I had reservations at McCaffrey House for 3 nights. On the morning that we were supposed to leave, my husband started to feel faint and his pacemaker shocked him. We rushed to the ER in Mammoth Lakes and he was subsequently put on a life flight to another hospital. I texted McCaffrey House very quickly and said we wouldn't make our reservation, fully realizing that we would probably lose our money. By that afternoon, I had a text from Stephanie telling me she had refunded us for our stay. I hadn't asked for a refund, but it as welcome relief. My husband is back home and recovering. Knowing that this is the kind of understanding and concern shown by the owners of McCaffrey House , I cannot thank them enough and highly encourage anyone to spend time there. I'm sure they are wonderful people and the Inn looks amazing. Thank you again Stephanie for your kindness. We hope to someday make it there.

Stephanie is very nice, so I feel bad writing a negative review, but I want to warn others. I had to leave the inn at 10 PM on the very first night I was supposed to stay there; in other words, I didn't even make it one night, in very cold weather, and searched for a place to stay as it was too late to drive all the way home. I don't feel comfortable with a couple of alarming things happening there. The reason I left is that a permanent resident is living in the room next to the one I was put in (after booking a different room) and he is very sick and was literally hawking loogies, and coughing so loudly even two-five minutes that I couldn't work or have any chance of relaxing or sleeping. This is not cool. No one escapes the city for the mountains to be put into that situation. It turns out he recently had COVID-19 or still has it or something, I don't know, but now, on top of not being able to work, which is why I was there, or sleep, and having to drive around in the dark to find a new place, I have to worry about getting covid. It really sucks. On the other side of me, the room I had carefully chosen, there is another "resident" who lives there. So, I was put between a super sick person and another resident. It felt icky when I was told on the phone that I was moved because this room was nicer than the one I chose only to find out that someone is literally living in there. SIGH And, while Stephanie is great to chat with and was, again, very nice. There was a huge issue with the heat, which kept blasting in my room even when it was off. The heat vent is directly above the desk-workspace, so it made it hard to work, but I was prepared to deal with it until hours of hacking, coughing, and hawking loogies happened, which was like torture. I went up there to relax and rejuvenate and to do some writing, only to be put in a really bad situation that the innkeeper had known about all along. First of all, the room I originally requested should not be listed if someone lives in it. And no one should be put near anyone still coughing from a recent bought of COVID-19. It's dangerous. The noise was beyond inconsiderate. I didn't even get a refund for the night I was there until 10 pm in a really bad situation, but did get a refund for the second night. I got no sleep after having to drive around late at night, and then my trip up there was cut short and I had to drive home. As well, the WiFi is sketchy at best. The only good thing about it was the massage with Sarah, but when I got the confirmation email when I booked, it was offered at $85, and then I was charged $95; that's frustrating. Stephanie is a sweet lady who I enjoyed chatting with but the whole operation is so unorganized and unprofessional. It was like staying at a relatives. Uncomfortable in every possible way. There was no way to work or relax, and I was put into a dangerous situation being next to someone who either has COVID-which it seems he does with th

We spontaneously decided to drive up to experience the snow. The McCaffery House Bed And Breakfast Inn exceeded our expectations. Stephanie and Nannette were wonderful hosts and welcoming to our Corgi as well. Our spacious and cozy second floor room afforded a beautiful birds eye view of the snow falling outside with the fire place providing warmth and atmosphere. The breakfast was hearty and delicious and beautifully served in their lovely dining room. Parking is convenient and all the individual rooms as well as the House have good security. We hope to return soon.
Response from Property: So glad you enjoyed your stay - and so thrilled that the snow fell gently on the trees while you were here. We look forward to you and your sweet Corgi returning soon - Stephanie

We stayed at McCaffrey House for a long week-end of ski. I'm so glad we discovered this little gem in the Sierra. Stephanie and the team will prepare you a different breakfast every morning. They are so excited about their breakfast recipes that it becomes a thing and you can't wait to get up in the morning to see what's on the menu today. If your kid is picky, they accommodate with kid food. The House is very well maintained. 20min from ski resort and there are a number of small Sierra towns around to be discovered. The staff is super nice and Stephanie has always good tips for you to visit the surroundings.
Response from Property: Hi Serge - So glad your enjoyed our breakfasts - and the skiing - We have had so much snow fall since you were here it's unbelievable - I'm sure Dodge Ridge will be open well into May - hope you are able to return soon - Stephanie

The location was beautiful and we look forward to seeing it in the summer when it's not under 3 feet of snow! The breakfast was delicious and the owners were friendly. It was nice to have our dog with us too.

My husband and I were lucky enough to get a last minute reservation at the McCaffrey House last weekend. What a lovely spot! Our room was spacious, comfortable and elegantly decorated. It included thoughtful extras such as bathrobes and candies. After a day of stressful driving, we especially appreciated the opportunity to unwind on the deck with a glass of complementary wine. A delicious, freshly cooked breakfast was served on the deck the next morning with a lovely view over a lush, forested area. Our host, Stephanie, was friendly and helpful. I fully recommend the McCaffrey House!
Response from Property: I'm so glad you enjoyed staying at our inn - and I agree with you that we are lucky to live in a beautiful grove of giant pines and cedars. Breakfast on the decks is a favorite for all of our guests - hope you are able to return again. Stephanie

The place is great and the host Stephanie was warm, loving, and very helpful. The breakfast was tastefully prepared and the bed and breakfast is an absolute gem and we would stay here again. Stephanie helped us plan our activities for the day and made us feel very comfortable and welcomed at her place. they have guests who have been coming there for years!

My family and I had an amazing experience here over the weekend. We have tried their in-house breakfast, to go breakfast on the day we skied and their dinner. My kids loved the board games, we loved the wine evenings they so graciously extended before dinner and the entire family appreciated the two dogs on the property. We will absolutely come back! My only slight complaint would be that due to how the house was build one can hear everything upstairs (our room was downstairs) and so we had to wake up quite early even on the day we were not skiing due to the noise. I believe that smaller rooms are upstairs where it might be more quiet. The hosts are lovely and the location is in the middle of nowhere so there is a lot of privacy. It took us about 30 minutes to get to Dodge Ridge for skiing - for reference. I also need to mention that we forgot some articles of clothing at the property and the host offered to mail it back to us. She called and emailed and was incredibly gracious. We will for sure come back!

Fantastic property. Friendly and helpful service. Delicious breakfast. Only (small) complaint is the bed in our room was a bit “lumpy” and my husband felt like he was sliding off at night. We will be back! We enjoyed our stay very much.
