The Lake Isle Restaurant with Rooms

My Husband and I stayed in Room 2 which was absolutely amazing. Really well thought out room with an absolutely out of this world bathroom. Total luxury! Beautiful rooms & restaurant with super friendly management & staff. Will certainly return. What a gem!

First visit and did not disappoint. Fabulous from start to finish. Room was spotless with comfy beds and a spa bath. Food outstanding, both supper and breakfast. Service exceptional. Fortunate to live close enough to be able to return in the near future

3 night stay early September. Perfect for attending Burghley Horse Trials. The Lake Isle offers stylish rooms along with a wonderful restaurant. Our super king room was very pleasant. Attractive decor, very comfortable bed, powerful shower and jacuzzi bath. We are in the restaurant on the first evening and were very impressed with the food. The food was fresh, well seasoned and attractively presented. The staff were very friendly and quietly efficient. Breakfast was the best we have ever enjoyed in a hotel. Overall a very enjoyable stay and we will book for next year.

We wanted a short stay away from home and found exactly what we wanted. The accommodation is simple but well presented and reasonably priced. We also enjoyed a fine evening meal in the restaurant that was high quality and also reasonably priced. We think we’ve found a gem and will return whenever we’re passing.

Spotlessly clean rooms. Spacious rooms. Very comfortable bed. We were in room 1 which had a very large bathroom with a big bath in and a rainfall shower. Tasteful decor (if a little lacking in character). We booked the dine, bed & breakfast and this was well worth the extra money. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. The breakfast is a real highlight. A choice of food. We had a two course breakfast, fruit , yoghurt & muesli to start and then a cooked breakfast. The sausages were delicious. You really got the sense that the staff were really well trained and couldn’t do enough for you. I would 100% recommend staying here and would stay again without hesitation.

We visited as a family group of fifteen people for our annual pre-Christmas meet up, and took dinner in the restaurant and eight of the nine bedrooms. Everything was outstanding - from the beautifully decorated dining area and bar to the quality and presentation of the food. We pre-ordered from the a la carte December menu, which had a wide selection of choices, and everything was delicious and promptly and warmly served. The staff were most amenable in catering to our large group, and breakfast next morning was similarly efficiently served and beautifully cooked to order. Our bedrooms ranged from the small cottage to the deluxe suite, but all were very well equipped, spotlessly clean, warm and welcoming. I would have no hesitation in recommending Lake Isle - so much so that we have already booked again for 2024.

We popped in for impromptu dining to be met by unfriendly, bordering on hostile, front of house If we hadn’t already ordered drinks we would have walked straight out, uncomfortably feeling we were either too much trouble or perhaps not quite the “clientele” they were looking for (in which case don’t take the walk-in) We were rushed to our table which was as shame as it would have been nice to grab a drink first from what looked like quite an exceptional wine list the restaurant decor is tired, tatty and entirely the opposite of the food which was absolutely fantastic, clearly a talented chef supported by a faultless waitress We left well fed but let down by the overall experience There’s a great Bistro literally over the road - No 23 if you want to experience the polar opposite that delivers welcoming customer service and great atmosphere bad luck or bad management, you decide…

A birthday treat that delivered. An imaginative menu with a special offer for the month plus a La carte. Food was beautifully cooked and presented and the service was attentive but unobtrusive. I was impressed by our waitress apologising for interrupting us when she came to ask whether we were enjoying our meal. Although the room is not particularly large tables are well spaced and other people’s conversations do not intrude. Don’t expect to rush … for food of this standard be prepared to wait between courses.

After staying at th Lake Isle in July for our wedding anniversary, we decided to return as the experience was so wonderful. We stayed in the ground floor room outside which is perfect for us, it's clean and comfortable. The main reason we returned so quickly though is the food which is truly amazing. The beautiful restaurant adds to the perfect experience. We were certainly not disappointed on our return visit. The staff are delightful and attentive. Overall we had a fabulous stay and will certainly be returning.
