Great resort and tucked away from everything. Beach gorgeous and beautiful blue water. Staff were accommodating and friendly. Villa hut we stayed in was cute with a outside shower. Food was delicious.

Xanadu, the sea view is superb. The food is good, suitable for relaxing yourself. The beach is great, the sand is round and doesn't cut your feet. The menu changes every day. It is rare for Chinese people to communicate in English. UnionPay does not support it. The Internet is only available in the restaurant and it is not reliable, but the wifi in their office is good and can be used in emergencies. On the island, you can email them to pick them up, or take the South China Sea cruise ship

The location is awesome- right on the beach. Beautiful sunsets. The staff were amazing, ever ready to assist us. The food was great- the chef was brilliant. There were a lot of activities which were fun. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The resort have their own private boat to go to the mainland so we didn’t have to wait for the main boat to go to the airport. The nurse at the medical Center was wonderful too.Overall had a great holiday !

Excellent kids program, wonderful pool and very fast internet. The pool is very nice. Booking beachfront is a must. The beach is beautiful with very soft sand. Snorkeling off the beach is good. The resort offers a wide range of activities. The breakfast and lunch menu stays the same. The dinner menu changes twice a week. Love the pizza oven and pizza choices. Very nice spa. Yoga is offered twice a day. The landscaping is just outstanding and extremely well maintained. The housekeeping is first rate. Do not travel to Fiji in the month of May. I did twice near the end of the month. 2023 & 2024. If you like cloudy skies, a colorless ocean, nonexistent sunsets, wind and rain, then travel to Fiji in the month of May. You will be very happy.

Whilst the location is beautiful and overall we enjoyed the stay, we did not love this place as much as the others we stayed at mainly due to the lack of friendliness and poor overall service from the office and cleaning staff. The staff at bar and restaurant however were great! Overall, it was our least favorite place to stay in on this trip. Details: Our room wasn‘t cleaned throughout the stay even after asking multiple times but then on the day we checked out the cleaning team firstly left their equipment on our doorstep from the early morning onwards and kept hanging around in front of our bungalow whilst we were packing (on time!) making us feel like we had to rush, rather uncomfortable. We were told we could use the facilities until departure a few hours later but they couldn‘t ‚find any beach towels for us‘…. Food was very nice though as well as cocktails and drinks selection. We also booked in a massage which was amazing and can highly recommend! The pool area is nicely done but not enough spaces with shade including the sun loungers on the beach itself, which made it a bit stressful in the mornings to get a seat.

Overall it was a nice trip. Be aware though that the amenities it is probably closer to 3 stars but I have it 4 stars for the Fijian Staff. They are all wonderful and do their best to make your trip enjoyable. The cons of the resort. On our first night there in point 1 (the room name) the lights around the ceiling would not turn off. I discovered this literally minutes before bed. I could not turn them off. Turns out the light switch was broken. I ended sleeping all night with the lights on. Needless to say this was a rough nights sleep. I told the office the next day and they said they would send an electrician over to fix. They never did. The next night I had to turn the lights off at the interior circuit breaker which turned off the interior lights and the lights to the bathroom. If someone had to go to the bathroom during the night we needed to take a flashlight or use our phones. We had to do this until…heavy rains came and flooded the entire bathroom and about 4 feet into our room with mud and silt from the hillside. At this point they moved us rooms and the first night we were in that room an external circuit breaker and turned off all the electricity at about 1:00 AM. This meant no fans, no A/C and stagnant stifling air for the remaining 6 hours of our sleep. So another poor nights sleep. We thought they might offer us a bottle of wine at dinner one night or sunset cocktails but that did not happen. Also, check your bill upon checkout because they had about $390FJD extra added to our bill. I have to assume this happens quite often because when I pointed it out they were very casual about subtracting it from the bill without even looking at the charges I stated were incorrect. THE PROS: Great staff, Mena, Moses, Nox, Boolow, the security guard, Mellie, the main manager were all great during the day. My daughter hurt her foot on the beach and the manager helped take great care of her which I am very appreciative of. The meal service was great. The bartenders were great. Beach volleyball was a ton of fun and the snorkeling tour and private fishing trip my girls took were amazing. The beach is beautiful. You can literally snorkel right off the beach and overall the resort is very well organized. Rain hampered our trip a bit but there was nothing they could do about that. Drop off and pick up was a breeze and the pool is great to relax and cool off in. Overall. A great stay but double check everything just in case.

Do yourself a favour and book Octopus Island! This resort is located on a stunning beach with the most beautiful staff. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with warmth and friendliness that did not stop for the entire duration of the trip. The staff were incredibly welcoming and kind, and the food was phenomenal. Some of the highlights included tunes and tubing, cooking class, basket weaving, trivia night, and relaxing by the pool. Our group had the most relaxing yet fun holiday at octopus island and we can’t wait to return. We are already planning our next group trip! Thank you to the staff for making us feel so valued and like a part of your family. See you next time, Seqa Na Lega!

Beach bar was under constraction during our stay, daily from 8:00 am to 5 pm. Restaurant, pool, beach areas were all involved with construction noise. The worst thing is: We got no information about this before check-in. There was only a short sorry for this.

This was our second trip to Octopus and my 5th time in Fiji in 33 years. Our group of seven included a toddler and a disabled family member requiring special equipment, assistance on and off water transport and with water sports. Even before we had left Australia, I was heartened by the incredible attention we received from Sharene the manager in addressing all my questions and needs. No request was too difficult and Sharene went seriously out of her way to ensure we would have the BEST possible experience - but that was only an indication of what was to follow. The extraordinary energy, warmth and generosity of Sharene and her husband CJ was impressive and memorable - we felt utterly spoilt and have missed them and their staff very much since leaving almost two months ago! I have not experienced quite this level of hospitality anywhere else in the world (even in Fiji!). We feel part of the Octopus family and a week doesn't go by without thinking about our time there and these delightful people. On a practical note, the beach front bures were well worth the extra cost for the space and in particular for the beach front verandah and day bed. Plus the outdoor ensuites are a lovely addition. One generally doesn't travel to Fiji for extraordinary food - the geographical limitations makes that difficult. However, the food was much improved since our visit in 2007 and was really good. The size and intimacy of the resort is appealing. We preferred it to the larger, more commercial resorts available. We met some lovely guests and still enjoyed having our own space. The staff were warm and seemed happy and motivated. The weather is more constant than on the mainland (where it rains frequently). The white, soft sandy and azure water is hard to beat - well worth travelling up to the Yasawa Group of islands if you want to find good snorkling and stunning beaches. The resort caters well for families and offers a good range of activities and services. We asked for a private, lobster banquet/dinner to celebrate a special event and were very impressed by the effort that went in to making it an incredibly memorable evening, in a stunning location. Under the current management, I cannot recommend Octopus Resort, Fiji more highly.

We spent an amazing nights at the Octopus island staying in a poppies room which was an absolute treat. We were meant to be in New Zealand but flooding in the north island meant we took a flight to Fiji instead and it was such a good choice. Because we stayed so long and late notice we got a great deal with transfers and meals included. The room was lovely. Nicely decorated, Lots of lovely wood. Good it has a fridge with a few drinks in that were included. It has a private day bed allocated on the beach. Most people who were there were island hopping and lots said the food there was the best they’d had had. We were pleased we made the choice we did it was so relaxing. As the food is from a menu rather than a buffet for most days the menu could have been rather repetitive and limited for a vegetarian but they made a special vegetarian menu for my husband. Offering him lots of options. I’d highly recommend getting involved in the activities. The crab racing was very fun. I came first place. The only disappointment was one day the bingo didn’t run which as there is no entertainment I’d been looking forward to. There are a few games to play like monopoly and cards. But it’s good to have your own entertainment like a card game or books. It’s not a party place really unless the other guests are up for it. That worked for us. Went on a snorkel trip that was lovely. Make sure you reapply sun cream as I managed to sun burn my bottom!! They arranged a proper big boat transport for us there as it was a bit rough and we got the island small boat back to the resort. Don’t hesitate to book. It was so lovely.

Everything about this resort was wonderful. "Resort" here is not what you'd envision from typical American, Mexican, or Caribbean resorts. It's more of a remote, primitive grouping of around 20 beach or garden huts scattered on a private and quiet stretch of the island, far from anything and everything. Just outside this small resort is a local village where about 350 villagers live, several of whom work at Octopus. To get to the village, one must pass across to the other side of the island, walking through dense bush in a very remote setting. But that experience alone is an unforgettable memory in and of itself. I spent just a night here and two days enjoying my beachfront bure, lounging in the hammock, walking through the soft white sand, and snorkeling with the most colorful fish and bright reefs—it was all perfect. The highlight, of course, was the visit to the local village—Nalauwaki Village—where the people live very differently than we do, yet have such a wonderful place to call home. They wake up next to a vibrant sea, where they can catch fresh fish daily. They live on an island meant for postcards with bush, mountains, and perfect beaches. Despite their different lifestyle, they are happy, kind, and content—a quest many of us in America chase daily. My beachfront bure was excellent. #16 - request that one! From an outdoor bathroom to a private deck, hammock, beach bed and loungers everything was terrific. I will be back!

We stayed in early January in a family beachfront bure with our two boys (aged 9 & 11). The beachfront accommodation is highly recommended. The hard choices are deciding between the deck, bed or lounge sitting just metres from the ocean in front of the property. The beach itself has golden sand and is surrounded by palm trees and has a reef just off shore. The food is excellent - the menu changes every couple of days - and the beachside bar is a great spot for sundowners. Octopus is a low key resort - there are activities through the day - however as a suggestion there could be a few more aimed at kids older than 5 or 6. The new games room - which opened when we were there - is a great first start.

Our family of 3 stayed there for 2 nights after spending 6 nights at Barefoot Manta resort in early October. I booked a Family beach front bure on their website because other booking site did not have this room category available. I had to send a request for booking first then they confirmed the availability and I paid non-refundable deposit. However upon check in we were given a point beachfront suite, a 2 room bure, which shares a balcony with the Bure next door, and people walk pass our room to get to their room, hence no privacy at all. I knew this before based on reviews so I would not have booked this resort if the family beachfront bure was not available. I complained to the manager on site but was told there was no availability for the family beachfront bure or any other more private bure. They insisted it was not their fault as the office in UK did room allocation. They offer me a free credit for a bottle of wine but I was not happy given that we paid US$1800 for 2 nights stay with mandatory meals and transfer and did not get what we paid for. They should not have accepted my booking request to begin with if they sold out the room category! I wrote an email to the main office but did not receive any reply. Shocking, awful management, I feel we were deceived. Oh the snorkeling was also disappointing as the beach was very rough for both days. We had much better time at other resort which was half the price with much better reef with better service.

So this wasn't my favourite resort in the Yasawas but it was my second favourite and it was a lovely resort. Pros: Amazing spot for yoga at anytime and they have a few led classes. Pool is excellent. Snorkeling... i can't really tell what it should have been. It was ok but we had just had a cyclone go through 2 days prior and visibility was not great. Can't comment on the wifi, but my data plan worked with no issues. Food was excellent but a limited set menu. They had a band playing at lunch and dinner and they were pretty remarkable. Cons: The dorm was not as clean as it could be. They left some of the beds in a used state until someone was coming in to use them. The shared bathrooms could have been cleaner. Water pressure was horrible. Food service was spotty, I'm not sure if they were ignoring me because I was single and they thought someone else was coming to join me or what but I had to flag them down. Only some had service with a smile.
