As always, lovely staff and atmosphere. My only complaint is the portion down-sizing during the time we’ve been going there. The best scotch eggs but now with less meat and curry sauce. The chicken Caesar salad served on a dish not much bigger than a saucer - 4 little shreds of chicken for an extra £4. The cheese board for £10/£11 - one piece of cheese only. I love the place - so some generosity with portion sizes would be appreciated.

Wonderful pub restaurant with a great atmosphere. Proper pub feel with open fires and comfy corners and lovely furniture. Good selection of beer and wine. The menu was small but perfectly balanced and our food was perfect. Amazing cheesy leek sauce.

Ray and his staff take this hotel to another level. The rooms are beautifully designed with gorgeous linens, fluffy white towels & so comfortable. Roaring fires, attentive staff, and food worthy of the Michelin reviews. Our 2nd visit in 6 months , fantastic.

I’d like to say a massive thank you to Ray and the team, for a most wonderful stay, amazing Atmosphere in beautiful setting, log fires burning on a windy night, food was brilliant (and the drinks 😉) tasty full hearty English breakfast in the morning to top it off. Would definitely recommend. And if you have the chance to stay in the Blenheim suite, you’ll not be disappointed, hopefully see you soon

We went to the Harwood Arms to meet our son as it is about half way between us and London. I have never been here before and it was an absolute find! The premises are delightful having benefitted from work having been done. The pub, itself, is so warm and welcoming on the chilly day we went, with wood burners blazing in the bar and eating areas. The dining room is beautiful, unusal and warm. There is a Josper grill in the open kitchen which lends an air theatre to the place. We had the most unusal and delicious food. Rabbit chops- little tiny ribs of rabbit coated and fried, scotch egg with a yolk runny and golden, Leeks cooked on the Josper with romesco sauce, confit rabbit and prune rice (again cooked on the Josper) with the rice just just right and all the yummy slightly burnt bits just begging to be scraped off to be enjoyed and steak frites. We are lucky to live in an area where good food is not difficult to find but The Harwood Arms is just that bit special. I cannot wait to go back to try some more of the Catalan inspired rice dishes. The staff are also professional, welcoming and knowledgeable. We were also able to watch the rugby!

This beautiful hotel/pub/restaurant is amazing… arriving at the harcourt arms we had a lovely warm welcome by Hugo who checked us in and even took our cases from the car up to our room. We where staying in the Blenheim suit for 3 nights this was for my hubbys birthday. Having 4 children and horses at home this was exactly what was needed… We was told that they where having trouble with the heating and they had provided us with plug in heaters and if we needed more we only had to ask… well we didn’t the room was so warm and heating was fixed that night anyway. Bed was lovely and the room it’s self was amazing. Regards to the bar well log fires burning away beautiful wine magazines and assistance when ever it was needed. Hugo was amazing always there to help fill our glasses up and give us info on the local area. The FOOD my god… we have eaten in many steak restaurants but no where has been as good as this…. We had steak every night we was there, you couldn’t fault this one bit, the winter salad and triple cooked chips wow it was amazing. The breakfast was also on point. You can see the effort and hard work that has been put into this beautiful place and we will 100% be back. Sam & dan X

When we lived in the UK about 30 years ago, The Harcourt Arms was a local for us with great food, great atmosphere. So on a visit, we decided to take 4 friends for dinner. We had been there a couple of days earlier for a light lunch, which was nice, even though the pub was deserted except for one other couple and their dog. Enjoyable soup, bread etc. However.......the dining experience two days later was not pleasurable. Instead of seating us in the pub area, we were taken through to the dining area relating to the 'hotel' extension. there was a large party of 20 or so already seated. As our visit went on, this party became more and more raucous, with a child of about 3 running up and down until I sternly told him to stop and go back to mummy. There were several members of the party who clearly didn;t know how to behave when there were other patrons present. We ordered our food....my order came with an incorrect side, and as we started to eat, it became clear that not only was the food unimaginative, it was obviously from a frozen supply of chicken kiev, french fries and most of the other food. it came with just a sprig of watercress, no vegetables or sauce, Most unappetising and we all left some of our food. Nevertheless, we carried on and ordered 4 desserts......3 appeared but the 4th (Plum and grapefruit Eaton Mess (weird combination!)). Then, out of nowhere, the waiter appeared with a bill, which on inspection turned out to be for a totally different table! After a wait, when the rest had finished the desserts, the aforesaid Eaton Mess appeared. After a couple of spoonfuls, that too was left. We did get an apologu of sorts and they didn't charge for the desserts but all in all it was an unpleasant experience and we, as hosts for our friends were left embarrassed. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this establishment....it's gone from being a charming Oxfordshire pub, to an extended building, pretentious, wanna be Cotswold type place.
