Stableside at York Racecourse Reviews

Checked into their Stableside studio for 7 nights. The studio itself was clean and comfortable with a bathroom suite. Privacy though was an issue as, on one occasion, workmen were banging on the studio door trying to gain entry. Next thing two workmen had let themselves in with keys (with staff assistance) later apologising for the intrusion!!! Apparently they were there to check the smoke alarms. Reception had not notified me of this beforehand. Totally unprofessional!!! In fact 24/7 reception manning does not exist at this venue. Won’t be coming back!!!

Went on Fri night got there for round 7.15pm and parking was no problem when we got there someone welcomed us in reception and give details and our key card we went to the room and the room was verru good a big double bed axn comfy bedding and a single bed which was a good size and comfy the ensuite was good as well towel and toiletries provided we went for something to eat and top of the drive way there's pubs what serves meals and a chippy and Chinese slept well and was quiet come morning the breakfast was good full English eat all u want cereals toast fruit and yogurt and u are able to get drinks like tea coffee and hot chocolate to take out or drink in restaurant shut at 9pm and breakfast 7.30am-9.30am would def recommend it and would stay again

We had a triple room, beds were very comfortable, rooms clean, shared ablutions, but very clean, showers very powerful. Brilliant location, a good walk into York itself, but pleasant and went quick enough, the buses stop near the accommodation. Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast filling, bacon was amazing not at all salty.

Nice staff, the security was good, they track you in the corridors. Stayed in cell block A, got a bunk bed and had to share a communal shower and toilet. Fire doors slam badly, take ear plugs. If you have a heart defect, I wouldn’t recommend. Take a generator because there is 1 plug per room. Decent location. Breakfast was good!

Room - small but warm and bathroom was good Breakfast - very good, probably one of the best have had in terms of quality for the price location - About 30 mins walk but their are buses regularly Facilities - Car parking is good and plenty of space Staff - Very pleasant and work hard

This was great. £30 or so for the night, had a bed and sink. Perfectly comfortable if a bit noisy with fire doors slamming. Had shared shower for my room which was clean and nice, aware there are en suite. The breakfast was nice and decent for the price. And not too far from the city centre

Great little Bargin place which is actually on the race course and is used for stable boys on race days. Lovely and clean rooms with a nice new bathrooms. Great breakfast with lots of options and a straight 20mins walk into the centre of 7-10 min drive. Staff was so lovely also. We will defiantly go back.

The room was compact for three , but clean and comfortable with small en-suite . Well equipped. Drinks in the room, but allowed to use the dining hall machine up until 9 pm in the evening. The Reception lady was very helpful. There were pubs for evening meals along the main road up through the secure barriers . The hotel was quiet with free parking . Picnic benches to use in the garden .

Handy for walking into York. Free parking . Bed linen clean but floors not hoovered under beds . Showers and toilets cleaned daily One bedroom window did not open Room doors very noisy Continental breakfast good Let down badly when fire alarm went off in annexe and staff had to be alerted by the guests after standing around outside for at least 5 minutes .

We found this accomodation to be a hidden gem. The room was clean and tidy, the staff pleasant and helpful. Set back off the road ,it’s quiet and secure. The breakfast is substantial. Excellent parking on-site. Would definitely recommend and reuse.

I stayed with my family (2 kids 2 adults) here. The room was fine as we wanted to stay just one night. Parking spaces were available and it was free. Reception staff was fine. Breakfast staff looked stressed. No greet or smile for the customers. One breakfast staff member was eating things from the breakfast, which says the (lack of) food service standards of a restaurant.

I stayed here as I was attending a retirement night out in the centre. I was initially dubious as this is more like a hostel than a hotel but I needn't have worried. Although basic, my single room was clean and adequate for my needs. The buffet style breakfast was also lovely. I had a hassle free stay and would recommend.

We arrived and our booking could not be found. We had one booking which included three rooms non of which could initially be found. We gave all names possible and then after some time they were found with the first name given. The receptionist made no apologies and when we gave our booking reference we were told that it was no good and we don't use them. There was no customer service and we had to ask questions about how to get in later where our rooms were rather than being told the information. There was no welcome and no eye contact. The next day when waiting in reception for our taxi there was a loud argument between the receptionist and another member of staff with swearing and raised voices in front of us and a dining room full of customers. This was very un professional and not nice to watch. Our room was extremely basic and small for a triple room. Big crack down one of the mugs in the room. Overall just very disappointing.

Stayed at Stableside for one night to attend the Christmas markets with my partner and our friends. Lovely room and comfortable beds and free parking! 30 min walk into the city centre or a short bus ride. There are bus stops right outside! We arrived early in the morning and where allowed to keep our luggage in the luggage room. The only thing that stops it being 5 stars is the lack of staff around, you have to go on a hunt for anyone if you need anything. Sign on the desk with a number to call if no one is there but the phone was also left on reception.
