Tau is the real thing. If you are looking for an authentic and enriching African Safari then TAU Game Lodge is the place you are looking for. The staff spoils you and the Rangers insure your see the animal up-close and personal.

This was our 4th visit in 20 yearsto Tau game lodge in Madikwe. its a very special place; The Rangers,game drives and sightings are exceptional. We saw the magnificent 7 close up during our trip and enjoyed the luxury accomodation, food and wine but most of akll the knind and helpful staff, several of wjhom have been there since the lodge opened 30 years ago..

We arrived in Tau game lodge on the 18th April 2024, for a three-nights and four-days stay. In total during this time, we did six safaris. We were guided by a superb ranger, Herman, who not only could find out locations of different animals, but was also helpful in identifying the trees/ shrubs/ insects and birds. The stay itself was very comfortable. Difficulty, if any, was in the outdoor shower, where we spent some time to look for any baboons barging in, and consequently were anxious showering. Food was great, and so was ambience.

The watering hole is right outside your lodge, the drive onto the reserve is breath-taking. There is a crocodile who sits right outside the fence, basking. The local food is very good. The flight on the small, single engined plane to get to the lodge is quite scary.

This is my second visit here and I still am not tired of this wonderful place! The fact that all of the rooms and main lodge sit on a waterhole makes for 24/7 game viewing. Rooms are clean and charming with private balconies on the waterhole. The staff are very friendly and kind, the food is excellent, guides are so knowledgeable about the wildlife too! You can see the big five here plus so much more. Elephants are everywhere. The wild dogs were a highlight for me. It’s very affordable and the short drive from Gaborone Botswana was very safe. Dreaming of going back!

Wow! Just wow! Tau could not be positioned in a better place. On the edge of a huge waterhole the scenery is ever changing. Don’t bother taking a good book! You won’t have time to read it. The wildlife at the waterhole is mesmerising! Superb food, excellent service and overall a beautiful location. Game drives are a bonus as you could stay all day on your balcony and watch the wildlife come to you. We saw almost everything we wanted to over our 5 night stay - just missed the leopards! Any negative? The deluxe rooms are a little dated but not a major issue. However, Wi-Fi everywhere surely should be a given in a 5* establishment? I understand that guests are on holiday, but in the crazy 24/7 world we live in, most people (I think) would value Wi-Fi in their bedroom. This surely is an easy fix? Overall, I would not hesitate going back. In fact, can’t wait! Bravo to all the Tau team!

We had a lovely time seeing the animals in their environments. The ranger was quite experienced and resourceful. The truck was comfortable. The provisions were delicious. The meals were delightful. The spa services were affordable and well-executed. What a relaxing time we had!

We had an excellent 2 night stay in Tau game Lodge during the low season. We were there with only 5 guests so we got all the attention. The lodges are very nice with a great few over the small lake were animals the whole day were coming for a drink and a bath. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was good. Our ranger Patrick did a great job and we had got all the time at animal sightings. We had a really great time at Tau Game Lodge!

Tau is one of our favourite places to go when we want to get away, relax and be treated special. The staff is friendly, efficient and professional in everything they do. The grounds are beautiful. The waterhole can keep you mesmerized for hours. And the game drives have never disappointed us, along with the rangers who are the best.

My wife and I celebrated our 40th anniversary at Tau Lodge and this was a very good choice. We were well received and taken care of by the friendly staff. Whilst we did not see all the Big Five, sighting the lions and cheetahs was exceptional.

It was a beautiful stay everything you ask for at a safari . The work they did for the bush diner That was epic. The animals in front of the restaurant wow! The explanation of the ranger and toke the time for everything!

TAU GAME Lodge was unbelievable and exceeded my expectations. From the rooms right opposite where all the animals meet at the lagoon, to the two safaris per day where you get up close and personal to the wild animals. To the wonderful food, service and staff I rate this place 100%.

First time in Africa and on a safari! It has been an amazing breathtaking experience!! Being so close to the animals, having meals while watching the wildlife! And also the chalets were so nice and compfy with a breathtaking view into the vast open spaces with animals. Also the view from the shower was fantastic. Going on long safaris twice with a great guide Patrick was such a fantastic experience!!!v I took home so many unforgettable memories!! Thanks to Tau Lodge and the wonderful team!!

It was a perfect stay with a very good staff. We loved spending this 3 days at Tau game Lodge for our first Safari. We felt lucky and our ranger Iggy was very nice. Thank you Tau Game lodge, we'll come back.

We spent 3.5 days at Tau Game Lodge and had the best experience. This was our first safari experience and it couldn’t have been better. We loved the game drives, and our ranger, Israel, was excellent. We had seen the big 5 (and more, including the elusive leopard) in the first 24 hours! Israel made sure the game drives were informative and that we got the most out of our bush experience. The service at the lodge was par excellence too, as was the spa. The food was very good and varied (notable, as we are vegetarians and the chefs catered very well). The watering hole by the lodge is a hive of activity, and our balcony and the meal deck provided an ever-changing view of the amazing animal life in the reserve. The only two constructive areas that I can mention are - it would be nice to have Wi-Fi in the chalets + the outdoor shower, while quirky, can pose a challenge on cooler mornings!
