Introduction
Some information may have been translated by Google Translate
In Zhangye, sunset is an indispensable highlight of the travel experience. Zhangye's unique Danxia landform will show its charming charm at sunset. Standing on the observation deck, you can see the setting sun pouring down like molten gold, dyeing the mountains with a warm and mysterious color. Red, orange, yellow, purple and other colors are intertwined together, like paint on a palette being splashed at will, but just right to form a shocking picture. In addition to the Danxia landform, Zhangye's grasslands, lakes and other natural landscapes also show a different style at sunset. Here you can slow down and feel the infinite charm of nature.

Rainbow Mountains 🌈- Gansu, China

Getting There - take the bullet train to Zhangye railway station. Danxia scenic area is about 45 minute drive west from the city. Attractions - Danxia scenic area- rainbow mountains. this is an area of natural beauty which can partly be explored on foot (limited trails) and by hop on hop off tour bus. To buy your ticket you must bring your passport. The best times to go are sunrise and sunset! Hotels - we stayed at Kaoshan tents which are walking distance from this scenic area. The tents have fans, locks on the doors and towels and slippers provided. The showers and toilets are cleaned regularly making this a great ‘glamping’ experience. Food & Restaurants - We ate at Kaoshan tents as a great buffet breakfast was provided (waffles, eggs, Chinese options). In the evening, at an extra cost, you can have a DIY buffet barbecue which was a highlight of our stay. #campingglamping

Stay at the Rainbow Danxia!!! Dongzhong Villa!!! It's so beautiful that it makes you cry.

👉🏿Stay at the Rainbow Danxia When you see the landscape in front of you, do you feel like you have entered the Danxia landform of the Northwest? However, this mysterious red cave is not a scenic spot, but a uniquely designed and comfortable forest villa. 👉🏿Tianjing Lake is located in the core area of the Rainbow Forest Scenic Area and is a fascinating scenic spot. The lake is as flat as a mirror, and the water reflects the blue sky, white clouds, and green trees. It is like a beautiful natural scroll, hence the name Tianjing Lake. 👉🏿There is a unique homestay hidden next to Tianjing Lake. The only four suites are uniquely designed, some are as warm and cute as squirrel nests, some are as mysterious and wonderful as caves and karst caves, and some are as colorful as the Rainbow Danxia, giving people a magical feeling of being immersive. 👉🏿The homestay also provides guests with a private butler throughout the process. The intimate service and high-quality hardware facilities make the experience absolutely beyond imagination! 👉🏿The room rate includes double scenic spot tickets and a carefully customized breakfast. In addition, the room also prepares grassland special snacks such as beef jerky, mellow dairy products, and sweet camel milk cakes for guests, which are very suitable for couples and parent-child families to vacation here. 👉🏿The room is fully equipped!!!

Real rainbow mountain!

As I stood before the majestic Mati Si, also known as the Horse Hoof Temple, I couldn't help but marvel at its uniqueness. Nestled on the rocky walls of a mountain in Zhangye, this Tibetan masterpiece stood as a testament to human artistry and devotion. Unlike any other temple I had seen before, Mati Si seemed to defy gravity itself. The temple complex was intricately carved into the rugged cliffs, seemingly hanging on to the sheer rock face. It was a sight that left me in awe of the incredible human ingenuity and determination that went into creating such a remarkable structure. As I explored the temple, the relaxed atmosphere engulfed me, transporting me into a realm of tranquility. The soft whispers of the wind caressed my face, carrying with it a sense of serenity that seemed to be inherent to this sacred place. The gentle rustling of the leaves and the distant sound of chanting monks created a symphony of peace that resonated deep within my soul. Every step I took revealed intricate details etched into the rock walls. The vibrant colors of the frescoes depicted scenes from Tibetan Buddhism, telling stories of enlightenment, compassion, and spiritual journeys. The delicate sculptures of Buddhist deities seemed to come alive, their serene expressions radiating wisdom and tranquility. As I reached the highest point of the temple, a breathtaking panoramic view unfolded before my eyes. The vast expanse of the surrounding landscape stretched out endlessly, the mountains standing tall and proud in the distance. It was a moment of pure bliss, a feeling of being connected to something greater than myself. Mati Si was not just a temple; it was a place of pilgrimage, a sanctuary for those seeking solace and spiritual awakening. The combination of natural beauty and human craftsmanship made it a place of profound significance. It was a reminder that even amidst the chaos of the world, there are sanctuaries of peace and tranquility waiting to be discovered. As I reluctantly left Mati Si, I carried with me a deep sense of gratitude for having experienced such a remarkable place. The memory of the hanging temple, the gentle whispers of the wind, and the awe-inspiring beauty would forever be etched in my heart. Mati Si truly was a hidden gem, a Tibetan masterpiece that left an indelible mark on my soul. #trip #China #chinalife #chinatravel #adventure #zhangye #danxia

Zhangye Sunset: A Stunning Visual Feast

Zhangye Sunset: A Stunning Visual Feast

Zhangye sunset: A stunning visual feast The Zhangye sunset is a treasure gifted by nature, especially at the Colorful Danxia Scenic Area. The blending of vibrant colors and the sunset's afterglow creates breathtaking beauty. This guide will help you easily encounter this awe-inspiring scenery. - Best Viewing Spots: The Colorful Danxia Scenic Area is the top choice. Viewing Platform No. 4 is known as a "photographer's paradise," with its undulating mountains and rich layers of color. At sunset, the shadows and light on the mountains create a dramatic contrast, resulting in stunning photos, whether panoramic or close-up. Viewing Platform No. 1 offers a high vantage point and a wide view, overlooking the entire Danxia Scenic Area. It's perfect for capturing panoramic shots and experiencing the awe-inspiring sight of the entire area bathed in orange-red hues during sunset. - Viewing Time: Late summer and autumn are the best times to visit. The weather is clear, the light is abundant, the mountain colors are more vivid, and the temperature difference between day and night is significant, making the sunset viewing experience exceptional. Check weather forecast apps for specific times. Generally, from 6pm to 8pm, the sunlight turns golden yellow, which is when the Danxia landforms are most saturated with color. During summer (July–August), the sunset is later, usually after 7:30pm, with fewer tourists and a more ideal shooting environment. - Transportation Guide: If you arrive by plane at Ganzhou Airport, transfer to the Tourist Express Line at the West Bus Station or take a taxi directly to the scenic area. If you take the high-speed train, get off at Zhangye West Railway Station and go to Zhangye West Bus Station to take the Tourist Express Line. If you take the train, get off at Zhangye Railway Station, take a bus or taxi to Zhangye West Bus Station, and then transfer to the Tourist Express Line. You can also choose to drive. Enter "Zhangye Colorful Danxia Tourist Scenic Area (North/West/East Entrance)" into your car's navigation system. The scenic area has parking lots available. - Travel Preparations: Bring a wide-angle lens (16–35mm) to capture panoramic views and a medium telephoto lens (70–200mm) to highlight the layers of the mountains. A polarizing filter reduces light reflection and enhances the contrast between the blue sky and the Danxia landforms. A graduated neutral density filter balances the brightness difference between the sky and the ground. The scenic area is at an altitude of approximately 2,000m, with significant temperature differences, so remember to bring a light jacket. Also, there is little shade in the scenic area, and the walking distance is long, so take sun protection and hydration measures. - Travel Tips: Arrive at the scenic area 1–2 hours in advance to allow enough time to find the best shooting spots. The "golden hour" is from 15 minutes before sunset to 15 minutes after sunset, when the light is soft and the colors are most beautiful. Use long exposure to capture moving clouds and add dynamism to your photos. Try shooting from different angles, such as overhead, low-angle, and side shots. Use the railings and steps of the viewing platform as foreground elements to add depth to your photos. Follow the rule of thirds, symmetrical composition, and other principles to arrange elements such as mountains, clouds, and people in the frame. - Local Cuisine: After watching the sunset, try some local specialties. Zhangye Sao Mian features flavorful minced meat and chewy noodles. Chao Pao resembles firecrackers and has a smooth texture and rich flavor. Beef Xiaofan is a nutritious and delicious soup rice dish with beef, tofu, vermicelli, and other ingredients. Let your Zhangye trip satisfy both your eyes and your taste buds.

Silk Road gateway : Zhang Ye

Silk Road gateway : Zhang Ye

I believe many people have never been to a city in China called Zhangye. If you ask me what Zhangye is like, I’d say it’s a gateway on the Silk Road, filled with hidden surprises. There, you can experience sudden snowfall in the mountains, explore rolling sand dunes, and discover charming, locally-inspired cafes and unexpected sights. This city is rich in ethnic character and natural beauty. Best of all, it’s not crowded, so you can set your own pace, embracing a slower, poetic lifestyle steeped in local culture. When you’re tired, just settle into a cozy cafe for a coffee break. One day, you could explore the mountains; the next, marvel at the stunning colors of the Rainbow Mountains, which look beautiful from every angle. The most delightful surprise? They even have sand dunes here. To truly understand the meaning of the Silk Road, a stop in Zhangye is essential on your travel journey.

A Visit to Rainbow Mountain 张掖七彩丹霞景区: A Dream in Color 🌈🏜️

#travelinginchina #Zhangye张掖七彩丹霞景区 #china Seeing Zhangye Qicai Danxia Scenic Spot (张掖七彩丹霞景区) with my own eyes had been a lifelong dream. When I finally arrived, I couldn’t stop crying—it was that breathtaking! The rolling hills, painted in surreal shades of red, orange, yellow, and purple, looked like something straight out of a fantasy world. ✨ Located in Gansu Province, China, this UNESCO-listed geopark spans over 300 square kilometers and is famous for its layered rock formations, created by millions of years of sediment deposits and tectonic activity. The result? A landscape that looks like an artist went wild with a paintbrush. 🎨 We were definitely not alone—this place is popular! 🚶♂️🚶♀️ Thankfully, shuttle buses take visitors to different viewpoints, making it easy to explore. The best times to visit are sunrise and sunset when the colors are at their most vivid. Pro tip: bring sunglasses because the bright hues under the sun are almost blinding! 😎 If you ever get the chance, go. Photos don’t do it justice. Standing there, surrounded by nature’s artwork, was one of the most magical moments of my travels. 🌏❤️
