Historical English Walls!
Getting here: a one hour train drive from Manchester or Liverpool in England.
Chester has the most complete city walls, the oldest racecourse and the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain, plus a 1000 year old Cathedral with Europe's finest example of medieval carvings - and of course the one and only 700 year old Rows galleries where shopping is a double delight.
The walls make for a great place to take photos of the historical view.

Located at the original entrance of the Deva Victrix fortress, this fortress was a legionary fortress and town in the Roman province of Britannia. The East Gate Clock was added in 1899 to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. It was designed by architect John.
Designed by Douglas. It has a face on each of its four sides, with the year 1897 and the initials VR appearing above and below each clock face.
Small knowledge point
Newgate: The arch bridge carrying the pedestrian walkway function of the city wall, after its reconstruction in 1553, it was once called "Newegatt". There is an old local proverb related to this: "When the daughter is stolen, shut the Peppergate", which has a similar meaning to "better late than never".~
