Yunnan University Science Museum

Yunnan University (Yunnan University), abbreviated as YNU, is located at No. 2 North Cuihu Road, Kunming City, Yunnan Province. It is a national key university jointly built by the Ministry of Education and Yunnan Province, with the ministry as the main sponsor. Yunnan University was established in 1922, originally as the private Donglu University. In 1930, it was renamed Provincial Donglu University, and in 1934, it was renamed again to Provincial Yunnan University. In 1938, it became the National Yunnan University. In 1946, the Encyclopædia Britannica listed Yunnan University as one of the 15 most influential universities in the world. After the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1950, it was officially named Yunnan University. In 1958, Yunnan University was transferred from the central Ministry of Higher Education to the management of Yunnan Province. In 1978, it was designated by the State Council as one of the 88 national key universities, and in 1996, it was among the first group of universities included in the national '211 Project' for key construction. In August 1951, the Aeronautics Department and some specialties of the College of Agriculture of Yunnan University were merged into Sichuan University. The Aeronautics Department later participated in the establishment of Beijing Institute of Aeronautics, now known as Beihang University. The Yunnan University Science Museum was funded by Mr. Xiong Delong, President of the Bear Group in California, USA, with joint investment from Yunnan Province and Yunnan University. Located on the main campus of Yunnan University, the Science Museum corresponds to the Yunnan University Library (Yifu Building). The foundation was laid on February 5, 1994, and it was completed at the end of 1995. It is a comprehensive and intelligent science building integrating academic exchange, scientific and technological research, scientific achievements exhibition, computer network consulting, and teacher computing. The Science Museum building has six floors, with offices above the third floor and a conference center on the first and second floors. ⏳Visiting Time: Free admission, the visiting time is 1 to 2 hours.
