Taipa Island in Macau, redolent with the scent of money

Regarding Taipa (also known as Dragon Head Bay, Tam Chai, and formerly known as Long Huan and Chicken Neck), in Portuguese it is called Ilha da Taipa, and in English it was once known as The Typa. It is one of the offshore islands of Macau and one of the four major parts (regions) that make up Macau. This time we stayed at the MGM Cotai (New MGM), owned by Pansy Ho, the daughter of Macau's Casino King, Stanley Ho. The MGM Cotai, acclaimed as Macau's 'most beautiful jewelry box', opened on January 29, 2018. The hotel interior is vibrant and full of artistic sense. The MGM Cotai hotel lobby is surrounded by four specialty restaurants led by star chefs: Bi Ying, specializing in superior meats and fine wines; Mitsuharu Tsumura at the helm of Aji, Macau's first Japanese-Peruvian cuisine restaurant; Graham Elliot in charge of Coast, inspired by the West Coast lifestyle of the USA; and Janice Wong MGM by Janice Wong, a world of desserts full of surprises. Opposite MGM is the luxurious Wynn Palace, owned by the world's Casino King and legendary figure, Stephen Alan Wynn, also known as 'The Father of Las Vegas'. Wynn Palace offers a free cable car service. To the west of MGM is the Sheraton Hotel, and further west are the famous City of Dreams and The Venetian. It is said that this lion is covered in 24K gold leaf. The City of Dreams belongs to Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited, owned by Lawrence Ho, the son of Stanley Ho and his second wife, Lucina Laam. On March 16, 2006, Stanley Ho resigned as chairman of Melco International, with Lawrence Ho succeeding him as chairman and CEO. Lawrence Ho is quite remarkable, having received the 'Leader of Tomorrow' title from Hong Kong Tatler, the 'Best CEO' award in the 'Conglomerate' category from Institutional Investor (an American magazine), the 'Director of the Year Award 2005', and the 'Outstanding Director Award' from the Hong Kong Institute of Directors. At the entrance of The Venetian Hotel, a new elevated loop has been built, from which one can overlook the surrounding famous buildings: The Venetian, Macau University of Science and Technology, Crown Towers, and Morpheus Hotel. The Venetian, Sands, Parisian, and other big-name hotels are lined up in a row. Yes! They are all his!
