It is connected to the bustling streets and commercial areas of Times Square to the north and is a small "oasis" in the high-rise city center. Bryant Park. Whyte, the most influential commentator on urban, human, and open space, to change this situation. Whyte came up with a bold idea to design an empty square and put 2,000 chairs on it, which was immediately opposed by the government, who believed that all the chairs might be taken away on the first day. The initial idea was put on hold for more than a decade until the new manager, Mansell, realized it in the early 1990s. It's amazing that not a single chair was lost.
