The largest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia. Interestingly, it is not considered a single temple but a whole complex, as each standalone structure is recognized as a full-fledged temple🛕 Prambanan is located just 15 km from Yogyakarta and is a highly touristy spot. Be prepared to be approached by crowds of Indonesian kids asking to take a photo with a white person😂 I can't provide information about public transport, but you can take a taxi for about 500-600 rubles one way🚖 The complex is open from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Within the park, besides Prambanan, there is also the Buddhist complex Candi Sewu. Not many people have heard about it, which makes it even more impressive as tourists rarely set foot there. By the way, the main photo in the post features Candi Sewu😌 The Hindu Prambanan was, in a way, a response to the Buddhist Borobudur. However, their histories share a sad similarity: both temples were buried under volcanic ash after the eruption of Mount Merapi in 1006 and were forgotten for centuries⏳ Actually, Prambanan's fate is slightly sadder.
