You will need to climb quite a number of stairs up to the fort canning hill. There is a bicycle rental station there where you can just rent the bike and explore the area nearby. It is definitely a very fast and convenient way to explore this town area . You can reach the funan mall by taking a 5 minutes walk from the city hall train station.
